  1. You mean an actual revolution instead of the First American War of Secession?
  2. And this: https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/florida-baby-daddy-biology-test-question-170601652.html
  3. Only when you apply YOUR cultural views to EVERYONE ELSE'S culture. (Back to Google...the human mind is an interesting, if somewhat fragile thing. Lots of details to this. Might be busy for a while.)
  4. Well, maybe not legally in most countries. (Off to google the laws regarding brainwashing in various places.)
  5. Depends on conditions. In a very remote area, he'll be limited to line-of-sight, but that can be improved a lot by getting a good antenna as high as possible. Communicating within the group should be fairly easy, but for real emergency situations, consider a satellite phone and/or an EPIRB.
  6. A civil issue, and one to be determined in court. Not a valid reason to refuse the order to leave. What they did was directly analogous to refusing to cooperate during a traffic stop and getting arrested for that.
  7. Unless someone else in the family has a radio that will do 220, it'll be pretty dead in most areas, but at that price, you can get one for each person.
  8. Must be a really important date if they're so determined to put off the wedding that long.
  9. Just going to leave this here... https://twitchy.com/samj-3930/2018/04/23/doh-katie-pavlich-thanks-jessica-valenti-for-the-accidental-psa-on-homeschooling-and-shell-hate-it/
  10. Only a tiny bit. Roughly as much as, say, if Jim Jones rescued a kitten.
  11. The short version is, when the person in control of the property tells you to leave, it's time to go. Barring some rare extenuating circumstance, (minor child in your care not being allowed to leave with you, or leaving immediately would exacerbate an injury are the only two I can come up with off the top of my head) you leave and take it to court if you've got a problem with it. Whether the manager did anything wrong or not, the loiterers were in the wrong from the first time they refused to leave when told. The people claiming the police were part of the problem need to sit down and shut up.
  12. Think about the unintended consequences, though; millions of lawyers suddenly having no divorces to handle would have to go seek out frivolous lawsuits to fill their time. Like suing clergy for remaining true to the Bible.
  13. What if it has really good nachos?
  14. Oh, so that's what they charge extra to put on the receipt in case the bishop finds out you're there.
  15. And then there were certain religions which shall remain nameless, that apparently just discovered some really good drugs. I mean, when most of their scripture makes Ezekiel sound sane by comparison...
  16. If you don't already have one, look at the Baofeng radios on Amazon for a cheap handheld. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J2W4JUI/ref=sspa_dk_detail_4?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B01J2W4JUI&pd_rd_wg=c67z0&pd_rd_r=DXY46K5B78S89VF2V65P&pd_rd_w=q6mxL About $20-25 more than the dual band option, but with other hams in the family, you can all get on 220MHz and have it pretty much to yourselves in most areas.
  17. But if all you have is a shotgun...
  18. A lot of the surplus ammo you can find in .30-06 or .308 is steel core AP. Sometimes it's mixed in with other projectile types, but easily picked out with a strong magnet. Also, a basic single-stage reloading setup for one or two calibers can be had for a fair bit less than a good rifle. Even cheaper if you can find the press and dies used. Just don't skimp on finding good case lube or you'll spend most of your time trying to peel ruined brass out of the sizing die. Of course, if you really want to punch through body armor, .45-70 (if you can. get a .45-110 so you can shoot either round) with a 510 grain bullet may not penetrate, but the dents it left in the clay backing strongly suggested the wearer wouldn't be getting up any time soon. It's also known to be pretty good against engine blocks, buffalo, etc.
  19. Not necessarily no role, but a lot less of a role. There are still a number of rights and privileges of immediate family that would need to be considered; making medical decisions on behalf of an incapacitated spouse, for example. Also, the default control of property not explicitly held jointly could be come an issue, (my cousin wasn't on the deed to his wife's land until her father died and they inherited more, as they'd never seen a need to deal with the paperwork until then) or even picking up a prescription medication for one's spouse.
  20. They found an easy way in. Fairly standard tactic; attack the weakest links to establish precedent, then gradually expand that precedent until you can force it on everybody else. Basically, Army's claim is that a chaplain can't refuse anyone any service on grounds of any of the protected categories...which includes religious affiliation. AFAICT, a Catholic chaplain wouldn't be allowed to deny anyone the Eucharist just because they're not Catholic. I'm thinking someone in the military needs to arrange a religious ceremony that includes a pig roast and then put a Muslim chaplain in charge of it.
  21. ...for declining to participate in a marriage retreat that included a lesbian couple. Even though participating would have violated the rules of his sponsoring organization, which the Army requires him to follow. http://www.bpnews.net/50721/army-chaplain-fights-charge-of-unlawful-discrimination https://www.armytimes.com/news/2018/04/19/army-chaplain-faces-same-sex-discrimination-claim-lawyer-says-he-was-following-army-guidance/
  22. Likely most of it; while you technically need a hunting license to go pop a few rabbits or squirrels for the table, I seriously doubt that most people would bother if that's all they're doing. And you have to figure there are a lot of people like me, who only bother to renew in years we actually expect to have the time and place to hunt; that's maybe 2-3 years out of every ten for me. Helicopters are pretty much made of sensitive spots, and an old .30-06 Enfield or Garand is an armor piercing weapon by most standards.
  23. Maybe he figured anybody on a plastic bike is too young to get a ticket, so he was waiting until your mommy lets you ride metal.
  24. School zone and a good hill. Had a trooper blip his siren at me a few days ago. Didn't actually stop me, but I did slow from 28 down to just a little over the 20 speed limit.
  25. "It is proposed that we sustain the counselors in the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators." Guess you might want to call up to Salt Lake and have them smack Eyring around, make him get on your agenda. Along with everyone else who's delivered a substantially similar line since at least 1971 that I could find in the time it took to warm up my donut. Now I've got tastier things to do.
