I think, and it's just my opinion, that things were more relaxed in the early days of the church, hence why we say Joseph Smith and not President Smith. These men liked to be called by their first names, not the titles we put on them. After the church was more formally organised, then we see President Taylor, President Hinckley. Just my opinion. I am almost finished "Rough Stone Rolling" and it has some interesting insights into Jospeh Smith and his mental make-up.

I wouldn't say that you are the most hated man in the ward. You are the most avoided man however. Last Sunday the Exec. Sec. came and sat down beside me as me and my wife sat down. I said to him "Oh no, now what." Of course I said it in a joking manner. He told me that they were calling new Sunday school teachers, but that they wouldn't take effect until the new year. I thought this was a little odd as I am not the Sunday school President. It all became clear when they called 2 more teachers to teach the class that I was currently teaching. I figured I was being released, but I have yet to hear from anyone as to what is happening.

That would make it quite an interesting trip.

HA!! I got you all beat. Right now I'm in Northern Alberta on a construction site, lots of deisel trucks running, for an Oil plant that will take the oil and surrounding sand out of the ground, pump millions of tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere, and possibly have a spill or 2. So far they have clearcut a forest for the plant, built 2 new camps/hotels on forrest land, and built a new road to access the plant. All the generator here are running 24/7 just to keep us warm in our little trailers and so that I can have the internet to tell you all about it.:D:D

I would kill for -23 right now. I'm in northern Alberta where it is currently -39'C!!!!! Good thing I head home today, although this weather is supposed to end up there in a couple of days.
