In the time leading up to my endowments, my life began to fall apart. My ward is really stretched so trying to get anything arranged is a killer. My official temple is a 4.5 hour drive away. I ignored the murmurings from the RS sisters of ‘You can’t go by yourself’. I just made an appointment and got in the car and drove. When I got back, I got a lot of ‘What! You went all by yourself?’ But if I had waited for someone to be free to go with me, Satan probably would have completely destroyed my entire life!
I think Satan exists and he hates people going to the temple.

I can relate but in a different sense. I never once baptized a person in my mission that didn’t have a crisis the week before their baptism. Also lost a lot of people a week before their baptisms too.

I am enjoying this forum.  It is diverse and quit well mannered.  I am a member of the LDS faith.  Served a full time mission.  Married with three kids.(teenagers)
I love God and need him every hour indeed. I love the Savior Jesus Christ.  I hope to learn more about Him, y'all, and myself on this forum.
    Thank you!

I have discussed this with friends and we marvel at the timing it was revealed.  As the people of this country were beginning to start pushing for homosexual unions with the equal rights of married folks.
Now we are past the tipping point on this issue.  Majority in USA favoring the world's redefined marriage structure.
The fact that it came before this blitz attack on marriage tells me it was revelation.
Now my point is that the church released the Living Christ.  What is coming concerning our faith in a real living being that literally died for us all.

I remember when I was 4 and loved every girl in the neighborhood. I got in trouble once kissing the neighbor girl when I was 4. As I also reflect, I idolized my dad. I saw my dad love my mom, saw them hug and kiss and I thus wanted to do the same. I dont remember having any sexual feelings or those chemical attractions related at that age, I was just acting upon a strong influence in my mind of what I thought I was supposed to become. I am thus of the firm belief that our sexual attractions are based in large part off of very early perceptions of growing up and how those closest too you have a very strong early influence on shaping ones sexual identity.

That same-sex couples would be sealed in the temple.  That isn't just a "small step" in doctrine.  How can you be Mormon and wish the church to move away from God?

Given that there are members all over the place who think "it's only a matter of time" before the Church allows same-sex couples to be sealed in the temple, I'd say we very much need it.  If the world is fighting against families, the Church must defend them, and it must start with the membership.

The original post wasn't condoning anything, it was an explanation.  It's only a sin to those who serve God.  Most of the rest of the world views it as normal.

I agree to some extent.  School is government.  Government should not teach the topic of sex to young tender minds.  Neither people nor organizations can agree on appropriate or inappropriate forms of sex.
The problem and conflict is public health issues with STDs, teen pregnancy and misinformation..
The public needs to be informed about these health issues and schools just happen to be the best location and age that need to hear this.  So opting out of those health lessons is allowed.  These lessons can be mingled with worldly views on masterbation, homosexuality, and abortion.

" Here you are actually admitting that you are unwilling to accept any theory that doesn't fit your existing model."
You are correct. But we are all in good company.
Evolutionists have their "gap of the gods" -- phenomena which are inexplicable under evolution. A scientist will consider the imponderable contradictions of quantum mechanics with reality, such as the "spooky interaction at a distance", without wincing. Because they have tested it to their satisfaction.
I think I can safely say that nobody understands quantum mechanics. ~Richard Feynman
"Quantum mechanics....seems to violate some fundamental principles of classical physics, principles that eventually have become a part of western common sense since the rise of the modern worldview in the Renaissance." -- Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy
I have learned though my personal experience that Joseph Smith was called by the Lord as a prophet. I do not know all things, but of this, I have a certain knowledge. I have tested it to my satisfaction.

Something interesting in John Gee's statements that stood out to me.

Perhaps this is the key to understanding something like this -- to remember that ancient Old World scripture was written under geocentric cosmologies. Under a geocentric model, where slower moving objects are farther away, it makes some sense that God's place in such a cosmology would be the farthest out, the highest up, the outside most object.
Perhaps an interesting thought that occurred to me -- assuming Ancient, old world scripture is written with a geocentric cosmology in mind, my 21st century "enlightened" cosmology (with billions of "island universes" and vast distances where we are not even confident that we can see the entire universe from the earth and objects orbiting objects which orbit larger objects with no discernible "center" and so on) seems superior (or at least more accurate) than what is presented in scripture. And, yet, I see many in Mormondom and broader Christianity who want to hold the Biblical cosmology as not only superior in a theistic way but more accurate in a scientific way (and SS teachers like one this last Sunday who take backhanded stabs at the Big Bang theory). What I see myself going through here is a bit of a re-evaluation of exactly what scripture is and exactly what it is useful for. It becomes less and less a scientific text (trending towards a strictly spiritual/religious text??)

    I feel differently.
Ideally, all parents would teach their kids respectfully about the birds and bees.  Reality is kids are going to learn about these things elsewhere... so the solution is not to put someone the kids are supposed to trust to teach them INCORRECT PRINCIPLES.  That will be much harder to undo than the kid learning it from the cafeteria that has no authority.
When addressing an issue that veers far from the ideal, the solution is to bring the situation back to ideal.  The solution is to help parents do their job better.

While I don't hold this view, I think what the second parent was getting at was that someone who had sexual experiences (either willingly or unwillingly) may feel shamed and ostracized by their peers and/or teachers, and hopeless to abstain in the future, especially with the shortsightedness of a a 14 year old.
Personally, I'm torn about sex and sexuality being taught in schools.  Ideally, all parents would teach their kids respectfully about the birds and the bees.  Reality is, many kids are going to learn about these things at school instead of at home, and in that case, I'd rather the discussions start in a classroom than the cafeteria.

It used to be much of society was structured to teach boys how to become men and girls how to become women . . now it is all jacked up.
Outside of the Church, I know of no institution that will know help me teach my son how to become a man and my daughters to become women.  And even inside the Church things are rapidly changing . . . .
See . . .what a complete weasel. This absolute BS idea that we can allow girls to become Eagle Scouts have a "parallel" program and still keep what makes BSA, BSA. What a lie. Everything in BSA is geared towards teaching boys how to become men and leaders of men.  To allow girls to obtain Eagle Scout means that we are no focusing on teaching girls to become men or we will cease to teach boys to become men b/c BSA will so drastically change the program over time to "fit the needs" of our female scouters. What a travesty . . .the requirements will be lowered, just like it has in every organization that sets out to be "gender inclusive". Simply b/c it is a fact of nature that boys/men are stronger, faster, more physical than girls/women . . .it's a fact.  And in order to ensure that women don't feel "left behind" any organization that is physical in nature inevitable dumbs down the physical standards just so the females won't feel excluded. And the sad thing is that any boy/man with half a brain knows this but just doesn't say it and eventually when the standards are dumbed down, Boy Scouts no longer becomes challenging . . .it just becomes a social club.  What a  . . .well I have not nice words for this piece of excrement.
And what's even more frustrating is one of the "Big Three" of Boy Scouts is a former Church Young Men General President, who voted for this policy change.  I've said it before, there is corruption and evilness . . .All is not well in Zion. Rather than taking a stand, BSA and the Church are bending to social justice warriors.  And yes, that is exactly what it is and it is not what I expect. And yes it is exactly what the SJWs want . . . . . one day, one day Christ will come; I hope it happens in my lifetime, 'cuz man otherwise I've got to deal with this crap for the next 50+ years . . .not my idea of a good time. I'm pretty positive in my lifetime we will see true persecution of saints and I'm not talking about "oh I just dislike you" or "I'm gonna get you fired from your job".
The Church has had it so good for 100 years it doesn't know what persecution looks like and in the history of the world, true saints have always been persecuted.

As someone who grew up playing video games and listening to rock music, I am not at all sure they are all that different from pornography. When I was younger, I laughed at and mocked those who said such things about popular music and video games. As a middle-aged man, I'm not laughing any more, and I'm not mocking. It's possible that I'm not actually as smart as I once believed I was.
