The blessings promised are based on our faithfulness, so just focus on the things you can do and you never know - you might be surprised one day and find the perfect guy. :)

I'm a boring person. No one laughs at my posts. -

I love being a marriage counselor!
MorningStar replied to SoCal_Counselor's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
That's great. I asked a marriage counselor if he loved his job, but he said people were usually so far gone, it couldn't be saved. This was in the military, so I wonder if that made a difference. -

When my brother was deployed, people kept stealing his Jelly Belly's, so he mixed in some Bertie Botts. It didn't deter them. -

I just realized I left all of our Easter candy in the back of the van and it's suddenly warm outside. This can't be good. It's mostly chocolate. -

Scope is now advertising bacon mouthwash. That is nasty. I'm wondering if it's an early April Fool's joke. -

I knew you would think of something. Wow, this one would really, really upset my friend who just lost her Army husband. -

Sometimes when you buy Peeps, they are already stale. I can't wait to eat them on Easter morning and discover whether they're stale or fresh! They are delicious either way. I like Redvines when they are soft though. I feel kind of angry when they're hard. -
I need some ideas for more controversials threads. Here's one: Are Peeps better when they are stale or fresh? Please, do not derail this conversation with comments that you don't like Peeps. That is not the topic.

The Family Proclamation says the disintegration of the family will lead to the calamities foretold by prophets. If you are a member of the church and you support the disintegration of the family, you are contributing to the calamities that everyone will experience. That would include other things in addition to condoning gay marriage - abuse, infidelity, addiction, having children out of wedlock, shacking up, etc. Every child is entitled to a mother and a father - the two people who made them whenever possible. Gay couples didn't make those children. Often neither of them did and other times they either bought sperm or rented a woman's uterus. I think it is one of the most selfish things in the world to intentionally deprive a child of a mother and a father. That screwed up heterosexuals exist doesn't excuse this trend and I think it's an extra slap in the face to infertile heterosexual couples that homosexuals would act like they are in the same position.

I posted an article about another photographer being sued because they didn't want to photograph a gay wedding due to their religion. I'm taking this from an angle that these "rights" do inferfere with the rights of others. We have the freedom of religion vs. a protected class and for some reason the protected class trumps freedom of religion. Haven't lost any friends that I know of. (Yet)

Thank you for that. :) It makes me mad that children have been denied a mother and a father without thought about what the consequences would be. Children are guinea pigs in these situations. I'm not just talking about gay marriage either. I'm talking about the countless irresponsible people who have had sex without thinking about the life they might be creating and what their needs are.

Friendships w/ opposite sex
MorningStar replied to busfeliz's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
Again: My husband didn't buy a cheerleading calendar. If he he were doing the things the OP's husband has done, my respect for him would plummet and it would be very difficult for me to trust him ever again. Forgiveness and trust are two different things. I wouldn't try to understand his perspective. The perspective of an endowed man justifying inappropriate relationships, taking pictures of scantily clad women, buying calendars of scantily clad women, etc. is total crap and I wouldn't question for a second my reaction to it. I would come down on him hard. -

Did I say I don't trust my husband? No. If my husband were to engage in behavior like what I described above, I would not deal with it nicely. I do not have to compromise when it comes to expecting 100% fidelity and keeping our home free of immoral material, which would include scantily clad cheerleader calendars. -

In fact, I think my husband would say, "Thank you for not setting me on fire." -

No, if my husband were chatting up women on FB, having private conversations with women, taking "boudoir" photos of them (without my knowledge), and arranging for cheerleaders to stop by the house when he knows I'm not planning on being home, the burning calendar would be the least of his worries. -
I'm glad to see people in France protesting same sex marriage. Not that they make up the majority now, but it's still good to see. I'm frustrated with my LDS friends who have been manipulated by phrases like, "Love is love. Who am I to judge what another person does in their bedroom?" We make judgments all the time in our society, which is how our laws came to be. I don't think people understand the long term consequences of legalizing same sex "marriage".

Yeah, this thread was doomed from the beginning.

It is interesting that we're basically fighting over a word. If homosexuals had every single perk that a marriage does, only it is called a civil union, it won't be good enough because people refuse to call it marriage. It really seems this has evolved from, "We just want to live our lives" to, "You have to say what I do is normal and good."
-
I was trying to figure that out too! I rewrote a post and then discovered it in the middle of the thread. Sad way to discover who your true friends are, but it's awesome you were able to stand your ground. :)

Good luck! If they're offended by a picture of the temple, who's the intolerant one now?
