  1. We need a smirk or tongue-sticking-out reaction icon! Meanwhile, another lost opportunity... :SMH:
  2. (Article title: "...the remnants of Harold move west".) Allow me to demonstrate how you were supposed to relate this news: (Who knew adults would have such a hard time following a simple rule... Stickmen, people, stickmen!)
  3. The same was true of The Little Prince until this past year. Thoroughly enjoyed, but thought the ending was sad. It's now on my bookshelf.
  4. Apparently I'm not up to date on fame. Never heard of Harold and the Purple Crayon. Will go look it up. Strange. Appears to be from 1955. I wonder how I never heard of it. Looks like I'd like it. Added to wishlist.
  5. A++ (Although, in the second frame, I can't figure out the name after "I may not be ...")
  6. Pen (or pencil) + paper + brain is all you need! Give it a shot:
  7. Call me crazy, but I personally think both Trump and Biden are evidence that secret combinations can already put whomever they want in the White House.
  8. Apparently, it's been a problem for a very, very long time.
  9. No. It's now politically correct thinking and critical race theory. Get with the program, geezer. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the universe:
  10. Double thumbs up for this one! Anyone can sing that low deserves up-voting. Remembering can be a holy thing; forgetting can be sin.
  11. This was my point - people leave the Church because they are not converted to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. That's the reason. Everything else is just what they say to justify leaving. Yes, many these days are or will be deceived, others will decide they like sin better (though they won't likely put it in those terms), others will say it's too hard, etc. etc. But the reason they leave is because they have not been converted. The way to address the problem is as Alma taught: with the preaching of the Word.
  12. The First Presidency send out this letter encouraging members to participate in the political process (not just vote) around every election. It seemed obvious to me that the recent change in the letter was because of increasing wickedness in the world. No longer will you be able to find the best options by voting party lines - nor even the least awful options. You now have to study more than ever, the individual's history and policies, and choose to support individuals who seem to have integrity and whose views on issues support your own beliefs. Also, the parties have flipped in at least one way - Democrats now support big pharma and Republicans are highly suspicious of them - it used to be the other way around before COVID. Who knows, this may continue. Finally, I suspect that President Oaks now has increased influence over this letter and his insights have tweaked it a bit. IMO, those who leave the Church would leave regardless of politics or social policy. These things are the excuse, not the reason. (Not that we shouldn't do all in our power to ensure we don't increase their excuses or act as the reason - as Paul said to the Romans in our reading this past week, don't put a stumbling block in front of others - but we also should look to the real causes of departure and address those, not just the excuses.) The good news is that one day, hopefully soon, the world will end. (In the meantime, I have a cat demanding cuddles.)
  13. Welcome back, @Jonathan CV! Hope to hear from you more. I think what you say sounds like a reasonable interpretation. And I think @prisonchaplain's view also aligns pretty well, maybe perfectly, with what we believe. I imagine it as someone becoming so arrogant that when the final judgment comes, they will stand looking at Christ and say, in effect, "I reject you!" Those are the sorts of people who will go, knowing full well what they do, into perdition.
  14. It appears that resurrection is a free gift given to all who kept their first estate (didn't rebel and go with Satan in the pre-mortal war). I expect that is why even those who choose to reject all else God offers will be resurrected. My dad theorized that resurrection is an ordinance and thus one could theoretically refuse it, but that (as described in D&C 138:50) no one will because having a body is so much better than not having one (and perhaps refusing is akin to sin and leaves one subject to the pains of the unrepentant damned in spirit prison). He also thought that immortality is something one learns how to be (as opposed to a magical consequence of resurrection - one will have to choose to live by the laws which enable immortality rather than just being able to, I dunno, cut one's head off and then magically reattach it, laughing the whole time). But then, Dad was just Dad, and everyone should take that as nothing more than one person's speculations.
  15. Another interpretation of this verse could be that they are resurrected, but not through the glory of the Lamb, but by some other method - perhaps required as they have rejected glory. What that other method could be, I have no idea. (Though, admittedly, one has to wonder, if outer darkness is complete separation from God, and God is the source of light, life, truth, and intelligence, will it be possible for anyone to remain alive for long in said outer darkness, or will they wither away like a plant deprived of water? And yes, I know the scriptural definition of resurrection, but I still wonder.)
  16. -- Also, just for the record, fountain pens are optional, but your stickman will be much happier if you draw him using a fountain pen.
  17. Elsewhere in the universe, a few of us had lots of fun with a thread for posting stickman drawings. It seems unfair to exclude ThirdHour folk from such fun, so, please post your stickmen here (scripture-inspired or otherwise)...
  18. @Just_A_Guy's reply reminded me that there's leadership by formal position, and there's leadership. @Dylan, don't worry about the administrative leadership (beyond what's already been said), be a leader regardless. (That's not a suggestion to usurp authority from those who hold formal positions. It is a suggestion to be the kind of person people will look up to and follow, regardless of their formal position - because of your integrity, kindness, honesty, etc.)
  19. It is interesting.... [Klaw has just placed his paws on my hands. Pretty sure he wants me to quit typing. Now he's draped across my left arm, head on my left hand, both front legs across my right hand. Pretty sure he's saying, "Take a hint, Meowmy."] ...anyway, it's interesting that they are all kingdoms. Hell is a kingdom. Living in a kingdom isn't exactly the same as living in a republic... IMO, given who will rule that kingdom (and I'm honestly not sure if it's Satan or Cain), one should really, really not want to end up there... [Meanwhile, excuse me, I must submit to King Klaw.]
  20. IMO, without this explanation, no one is going to interpret it this way. "He has less milk than I do." The listener is guaranteed to assume "He" has some volume of milk.
  21. Welcome, @Dylan! Glad to have you here and look forward to reading your posts. As to this question, I have only one answer for you: Unfortunately, I don't expect less persecution of the Church and its members, only more.
  22. Do you need to revise that first sentence? The cited scripture (and everything I know) makes it clear that less than telestial is a kingdom, but not of glory. (Or am I misunderstanding something, or....?)
