Hello and welcome to LDS.net. I will change this to an other place .. in welcomes we just say hi to people. It is sad that some people dont want any changes to happen yet there are so may children of God that need the excercise of beeing a bishop or what ever. And all boundarichanges are tought very thoroughly over. I also was moved to a new place as the new chappel was ready adn I did miss all my old friends ... I still do... but the boundary went like 100 yards from me and my best friend was left in the old ward and she lived only a mile from me. But I did not complain as it is impossible to listen to everyone and please everyone. So sad about people behaving like kids!
  7. Jaa.... welcome. Enjoy! A day without internett and so many new ones to say hi to!
  8. Yes very possible... pushing the price sky high! I just made brownies today....
  9. I been often sitting beside a gay member. I dont see anything special about it. They are great people. I been driving to the Temple with them, laughed with them and talked with them... nothing special to me My sons best friends father I think is gay (a non member) and married his eh.. what you call it? ... other half... as it is possible to do in thsi country. He is a nice man but his friend never came in as he was getting his son who visited us very often... actually they never said he is gay, we just presumed his friend would be a woman untill a few years ago we got suspicious, but never asked as we think it was the sons or his task to tell. His son finally told my son and he told us. He always used the word "kjæreste" which is something between sweetheart and my love. So we figured wrong for a long time. Sad how people dont dare to say the truth in fear that someone is against them. Sure we had been very suprised, but so what? We really like this boy he is almost a member of the family, but beeing now 19 he is working and dont have time to visit us so much as before. I always hug them all for good night adn we have familyprayer for us all... once he said that hey dont you pray for my family.. and we did .. he has also held a prayer or two.:)
  10. If you stop eating I get moore of it before it is all finished: We're Running Out of Chocolate
  11. Welcome to LDS.net. It is always good to have more knowledge on the scriptures and doctorines.
  12. A person in a discusition claimed once that Jewish dont have a word and dont know what a spirit is? (or a ghost .. there may be a translation difficulty here.) Is that right? So it would be very difficult to explain about life before and after earth life.
  13. Welcome Alex and enjoy! Just in case you dont know... here music: LDS Songs, Mormon Music for LDS Church members at yourLDSradio.com :)
  14. "The bishop pointed out that the church had been a shelter for earthquake victims. But this time, he came to an agreement with the mayor of Leogane that the church would host a small office for government employees, instead of its homeless neighbors." So it looks like he was expecting the Church to be an office as was agreed with the Mayor!
  15. I`d like to wear a t-shirt saying... I am a mormon dont worry it is not catching. or Defending mormonism
  16. HI Jesse and welcome. You sound a bit like me when I was 20. I had gone trough many religions in my search for happyness and truth. But not before 30 the missionaries found me. Well I have to say I studied everythign BUT LDS... the negative "knowledge" of this chuch blinded me. I warmly recomend a visit in the LDS meeting! It might suprise you, in its artlessness it is very beautiful and honest. If you want to see the whole 3 hour blogg it might be interesting for you. Lessons depend a bit on how good the teacher is, but usually the spirit will hep even teh poor teachers to be really good and the good ones to be fantasic. In Sunday school we read the OT now till new year. But there may be other courses more interesting to you at the Sundayschool time too. Priesthood meetings are alike reliefsociety meetings with a message, but also delt in priesthood groups... you`ll se when yuou wisit!
  17. Welcome. Not sure waht yopu mean from the Mormon Temple... We do have some peopel asigned int o the Temple to work there for a few years and then there are peopel like me who drop by the Temple every now and then... I will bee going next week and stay for a week... if you want me to put your familynames in the Temple to be prayed for, I be happy to. You know we dont have pastors, the priesthood in our church is a power given by God not a position. All men who are worty and over 12 have some "level" of priesthood. After 18 they get the highest priesthood the Melkesedisk priesthood, (Which my youngest son got yesterday). The leaders of congrigations are chosen for a few years adn then changed.. so ALL boys in our church might be seen as "Pastors" children. You are welcome for more discusition in the ask mormons part of the forum. Yes I hope we can find respect, love and happyness in the world of different religions.
  18. Hi Elder, welcome. So far the meaning of the unofficial internet misioning has been just to answer the questions of those who ask, and send them to "real" missionaries in wards all over the world. It will be interesting to see how this official part of misionareies on line is working...
  19. Welcome. I been on the internett for 10+ years doing unofficial internett mision work. I love this work. Answering questions on line is really nice. A bit over a year ago came a man on teh finnish LDS.net site asking about the church. A frend of nine and I told him a lot ... he went to church and was babtized. He loves the church. An other man found a very questionable mormonismi site where there are a lot of anties, but he scammed through them and become a very strong member with vaccination against antiwork right from the beginning.... Enjoy your mision, we send the people to you.
  20. Hello and welcome to the site! I hoipe you enjoy the site. My son is now on mision adn he absolutely loves it. He is in Danmark... I/we are from Norway.
  21. It sasy that the great depth is going back to the North... am I going to get my feet wet? Also it says that the highway for the 10 tribes will be made for them to return from North to Israel... hmmm. If some of poles should melt.. Finland, Sweden and Danmark would be under water and Norway may be a couple mountain peeks.... Interesting times!
  22. These illegals also effect my life yep even though I am in Norway (actually we ahve a few here too, but the cold winter is dimishing the count) Anyway how can it affect my life? Yes it affects this way: A little lady (you would never quess how old, unless you had seen teh passport) is next in line. " How long are ypu going to stay?" Very strictly "About a week" "Do you have a returning ticket?" "Eh??" "Do you have a returning ticket.. (she nodds wideeyed) can I see it please" The littel lady sighs and tries to find a place for the jacket she is holding on her arm. Gerring acess to her purse she begins to digg in teh sidepocket feeling her way around and finally gets her fingers on something that she pulls out of the handbags sidepocket and hands it to the man. "So you have no intentions to stay longer?" "Eh? ... aaa no..." she looks suprised, gee he had the ticket and can see it why stil ask? Then a smile appears " No way" What she really would have liked to say was... Why? Why sould I want to stay, are you crazy, I got it much better at home ... but she feels it might be taken as insulting the officer and dont say that. Misionaries who travel to MTC have to learn excactly how to answer to those questions or they find themselves in the next flight back where they came from! It has happende to quite a few. Actually it was my biggest anxiety of my sons mission, that he can answer correctly to those questions. From MTC he told it was colse they did not send him back... My good friend who is American told me that they are equall thowards americans visiting their homeland and Chicago airport is the worst. Not beeing used to beeing strictly inquired by an officer of somekind with a very authoritary voice scares many, the little me anyway. Everyone is an illigal, quilty, as long as he/she is proven not to be one. Heh, once time the filght attendent did not send my green card back to USA as I have a Finnish passport and I did not know I should have sent it in myself... I did not even know it was not sent. So next time I was on the Chicago airport trying to get in the country, I got a 2nd degree inquiry of why ans where I been living in USA the last 2-3 years. I just said "Eh? I have nopt been in USA since the last time" And could not understand anything. This time the officer was a bit nicer than the other times, and he even smiled at me at the end, when I annonsed that I am just going to see the Osmonds, the worlds best grpoup ... but he told me I better see that the green card gets to the ... where ever it was, or they may arrest me the next time. So when I got home I wrote to the USA.. something... immigration or something and explained that I am home and that I never was in USA those years.
  23. Welcome ... enjoy the forum. It is amazing how people everywhere just pop upp in meetings to learn about the Church. Happy to hear you are one of them. :)
