checkerboy Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Ok so I come here today and hit the new posts button and what do I see? 16 of the 40 new posts are introductions. Now don't get me wrong I enjoy the fact that so many new people are coming here but after looking at a couple of the threads something started to dawn on me. They were all responded to by a group of members that I have come to call the "Greeting Committee." In every thread I could count on finding posts by the same people saying the same thing. Maybe you all should form a committee and nominate one person a day to post on the newbies threads so that they aren't always on the new posts page. Sorry I guess I have just been really bored lately and needed something to rag on. I really don't hate the new people or their threads. Again most of the time I am just sarcastic. Hahahahahaha!!!!!! Hemidakota Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 I am glad that GOD doesn't think the same way as you do....LOL Everyone who comes to this forum is important and should be treated as such. Yes? Quote
Connie Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Oh well, sometimes you just have to get it out of your system. Better to be sarcastic about that than some of the other things i've read. :) Quote
siouxz72 Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 You stink! I happen to like being on the greeting committee, thank you very much!! maybe you should join us. Quote
pam Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 I happen to enjoy it as well. At least it makes a new person feel as if SOMEONE read their post. Quote
Dr T Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Sorry I guess I have just been really bored lately and needed something to rag on. I really don't hate the new people or their threads. Again most of the time I am just sarcastic. Hahahahahaha!!!!!! I try and greet the new people and welcome to this site. You said, you don't hate the new people, hmmm, maybe that means you hate the old people that say hi to the new people. Quote
pam Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Or maybe he's an old person that hates the old people because they say hi to the new people because he wishes he was a new person. Quote
pam Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 OR, maybe Pammy is just the coolest That's it. That's the answer. Thanks for helping me figure that way..Yeh yeh..I'm the coolest. Quote
Truegrits Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 checkerboy:saying the same thing I think he hates that we are not very original!!! But, really, how many ways can you say HI and WELCOME... Quote
Connie Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Ha! You guys are great! I seriously enjoy being a part of the welcoming committee, even though all i can think to say sometimes is "welcome." Quote
Maya Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 I noticed the same and I someetimes think... why sould I ... but then I think of the new person and I really want to meet the person... This is like a BIG PARTY and : I WANT TO reach out MY hand and shake every persons hand... no one else can do that for me, even though it would be just a short hi... it is a handshake, the best handshake we can manage here... :)I think even though it would not be my day to write a hi...I would do it anyway... kind of cant keep away from intros... maybe I am addicted.... But I also often do it like once or twice a week not everyday....About the threads... there are very many sighning in all the time... but not that many writes anything. Besides you are welcome on www.lds1.org too:p.... There is a lds1 and Dr Ainsworth answers on anicent history questions just keep them coming and even Abinadi is there and a living Maya and many others too.... you can help that site too to grow, but NOTHING grows or there are not may threads IF everyone just reads! Everyone come on and keep the boards developing and add your six pence worth. I am sure there are hundreds that write better than I do... so come on and let us hear from you! Sometimes I am VERY original.... HI from Norway!! Quote
Misshalfway Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Hmmmm a little boring are we...... next time I will light some sparklers and do some kicks! Quote
Captain_Curmudgeon Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Gosh, cboy, you seem to have missed the whole sarcasm thread. But you have reminded me to read the introductions more often. I think I should make an effort to welcome new members who are a bit out of the mainstream, like me.I've got to say that I appreciated replies to my introductory thread and they did make me feel welcome, although I'd come here for a fight (or bet, if I could get one;). They made me believe what Heather had written about the whole forum.Naturally,R.O. Quote
kona0197 Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 The only thing that I dislike about forums is when people sign there post with a name. We already know who you are - the avatar and title are in pkain view. Really no reason to post a signature. Quote
Elphaba Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 I keep writing sarcastic posts to welcome people to the site, but I know I'd get booted. So, I am just going to say we should include the words "your fat butt" in every welcome post. Elphie Quote

Even though it's so not a big deal...it's something that has bothered me. Quote

kona0197 Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 Not bored. Just tired of seeing people do foolish things. We know who you are. No need to post a sig. Waste of typing keystrokes and time. Just my 2 cents. :):) Quote

Waste of typing keystrokes and time. When I set up my account, it would not accept True Grits...the only way it would accept it was without a space, for whatever reason.Since that was NOT the way I wanted it, I added, as my signature, the way I DID want it. I realize that may not be the "sign their post with a name" you dislike/are talking about, as it does not take my time or waste my keystrokes, seeing as it is a pre-set feature on my account. Quote
john doe Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 When certain post long posts (you know who you are) I sometimes get all glassy-eyed and forget who's posting. It helps me when those people put their name at the bottom as well. It tells me I can start reading again. Quote
