Dr T Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 My question would be "Can they tell who each is from the front side?" Quote

Churchmouse Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 Well now, let's see...... I'm sure the biggest one must belong to a Democrat:D After all, their mascot is a jack*** Quote
hordak Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 That's not the back of Mount Rushmore. That's a new Presidential monument to commemorate some of the more recent ones. The true beauty in it is it's simplicity. It speaks to all citizens of all political affiliations. Quote

Dravin Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 There are no Democrats on Mt Rushmore. The TravelerTrue, you've got an Independent, a Democratic Republican, and 2 Republicans. Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 Aren't the Democratic Republicans considered to be the forerunners of the Democrats? Quote
Churchmouse Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 There are no Democrats on Mt Rushmore. The TravelerActually there is:Washington had no party affiliationJefferson was Democratic-RepublicanLincoln was a Republican in 1860 and a member of the National Union party in 1864Roosevelt (this one) was a Republican. If you look at the monument from the front that would be Jefferson sticking up in the air, so, my statement is correct:):) Quote

Churchmouse Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 Aren't the Democratic Republicans considered to be the forerunners of the Democrats?Yes they areThe first President elected as a Democrat was Andrew Jackson in 1828. After Tennessee was admitted to the union in 1796 Jackson was elected to the Congress. There he voted with Jefferson's Democratic-Republican Party. Quote
Churchmouse Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 ......Democrat was a term of derision at the time.It still is. Quote

Jefferson and Lincoln would definitely be Democrats today. Probably Roosevelt too and possibly Washington. Many here would refer to Lincoln as a socialist or use other similar terms.BTW, the biggest behind would have been Washington's.:) Quote

The modern Democratic Party would in no way appeal to any of the men you have mentioned. Highly doubtful that it would appeal to JFK either. Of course the same could be said about the modern Republican Party as well. Talking about straying from the Founding Father's vision......they would all be very shocked and saddened. Quote

In reality, Lincolns family was poor by todays standard but if you check the tax records of Kentucky, as I have done, you find that Lincoln's dad paid the highest property tax of anyone in the county. So, they were actually one of the better off families in the area. Quote
