bytor2112 Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 (edited) Time for a new book! I just finished Rough Stone Rolling by Richard Bushman and The First Two Thousand Years by Cleon Skousen......now I need a new book. Strongly considering: The Infinite Atonement by Tad Callister or The Continuous Atonement by Brad Wilcox Has anyone read either and do you have any suggestions along these lines? Thanks in advance! jameslentz Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 i just read the continuous atonement and it was really good....i recommend it....i am looking to read the infinite atonement as soon as i can get my hands on it. Quote
Connie Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 My hubby says The Infinite Atonement is very good. It's on my reading list. And of course i was so very impressed with Tad R. Callister's talk during this past general conference, that makes me more excited to read it. That one is gonna have to be careful in giving such awesome talks or he just might be the next apostle called. Quote

I haven't read it yet, but I got Leap of Faith by Bob Bennett.Amazon.com: Leap of Faith (9781606410530): Bob Bennett: BooksIt looks good and Richard Bushman thinks it is extraordinary. Quote
tubaloth Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 Both are good books. You can't go wrong with either one. I have only read a talk about the Continuous Atonement, that is suppose to be the start of the book. From my point of view they kind of deal with the same thing. I think it was the The Infinite Atonement the author said something to the affect that God maybe Christ can have more then one thought at the same time. He didn't really say where he got that idea from, I guess just assume thats how it is. Quote
Moksha Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 The Incomparable Jesus by G.Palmer may have something for you. It's focused exclusively on the Savior and has received some excellent LDS reviews. Quote

That's the one that's been controversial. Mainly dealing with the timing of it's release. Quote
MarginOfError Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 I enjoyed bits and pieces of Women and Authority: Re-emerging Mormon Feminism. There was a fair amount of garbage commentary, but also a good deal of new ways to look at things. I found that it challenged me to really think about some of the issues discussed, and I feel better prepared to deal with feminist issues in the Church now. But like I said, if you aren't prepared to sift through the mess, it won't be a very enlightening read.If you want something to get you thinking but without the waders requirement, try The Once and Future King. I'm about three quarters of the way through it now and it remains my favorite book of all time. Quote

Maya Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 Wilcox is good... I wonder if the sister Wilcox who was in Finland as a misionary was family..... Quote
belledame2 Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 I'd go with the Continuous Atonement Quote
