I'm really enjoying this thread. It's like a soap opera. And about as believable, but hey -- I'm enjoying it.

HiJolly

But does your wife know *dum dum dum* about Angela? :D

Jeez. I was there when my mom watched Angela get thrown under that bus in 1973. They should just stop bringing her back and leave her dead for once.

Does she (the one of the right) look happy to you? I'll leave her be when she's enjoying her undeath. So until then, you'll just have to live with it.

Its totally normal for people who like to have control to get upset and say you're being suspicious whenever they discover that they cant control you. Its not hiding its called none of your business. What if you got someone on the witness relocation program that wants to partake in the chat but needs to remain anonymous? Are they automatically less credible because nosy mods cant trace their IP? As a point of fact I think I'll go change my settings right now :) :)

So now Steve is not only an adoptee with a famous movie star mother, but he's also in the witness protection program? Interesting. I hope no mafioso are reading the boards looking for missing informants. Because now Steve is going to have to change his username and move. Way to spill the beans, Wolfie, I hope you're proud of yourself.

I am not in the witness protection program (well, if I am, I couldn't tell you but I'm not) and clearly people are embellishing me. I do like my privacy but is that so wrong?

Just to follow up, I took the money and signed the NDA so I can't really get into any more details. Please everyone trying to cyber-stalk me because in addition to it being a little creepy, I don't want any more details coming out and me violating the NDA and getting sued and losing my $$.

As for the privacy toolbar/proxy thing ... you can be assured I know what I'm doing. Even if I do online banking thru a proxy, it is still encrypted and the browser is going to check the digital certificate and verify that it is signed by a trusted Certificate Authority and alert me if it is not. You run the same risk when logging on from anywhere ... you could be ARP poised on the local collision domain and/or get Man-In-The-Middled from an upstream hop. Don't understand what I'm talking about? Maybe that's why I work in IT (or did until recently) and you don't. Look it up, I'm legit, despite what all the doubters say.

I don't care to look it up.

That's what Mahone is for :]

Let's look at the fact as you have presented them to us:

Her agent (also her lawyer maybe, I'm not sure) contacted me today and they want me to sign a non-disclosure agreement not to reveal the truth that my birth mother, who is now famous, had a child out of wedlock and gave it up in an "under the table" adoption deal. I think they are afraid if the truth comes out, it could severely impact her career. They are willing to offer me $250,000 to keep quiet.

Are her attorneys aware that you have given out this much informatin already on a public board that could be read by thousands of people? A board that gets hundreds of search bots a week looking for key words and phrases?

If this were to be such a hush hush thing..why post it on a public board?

Oh, sorry Steve. Like, 20 minutes before you posted that you will lose the money if your true identity is found out, I sent an email out to TMZ asking them to look into this. Because I believe that the love a mother and her son share, even when given up at a young age, is inseparable. I just wanted you to be happy.

On the bright side, if the information you gave here is accurate, they said depending on how big the starlet is, I could probably pull in a 'story finders' fee of up to $10,000. And I might be able to parlay that into a stint on Nancy Grace. And if they cancel your NDA, you can always get that money back through interviews with the big-time gossip mags. You'll probably make even more, and everyone will know who your mom is, no more having to keep secrets. So, it's a win-win situation for everyone. Good luck to you, and let me know if you need representation, I'll shave 2% off my fees if you arrange for me to meet Raquel Welch.

But I am kind of curious how it was proven in two days time that you were in fact the child born to this famous actress that they would offer 250K. It would seem to me they would want all kind of proof for this.

Oh, come on Pam, you haven't heard of instant DNA tests? They use them on all the big-budget TV shows these days.

Oh what was I thinking. Of course..I've seen them used on Maury Povich. When they confront the guys to prove paternity.

So obviously they use them on even the low budget shows as well.

If she's willing to pay 250K to cover up indiscretions why on earth would she submit to a DNA test? Or was a private eye hired and the DNA obtained surreptitiously?

What's the point? It's a risk and it's unnecessary. It's going through an unofficial proxy and unnecessarily. It just adds an extra risk into the equation, and for online banking a proxy is completely pointless unless you are really doing something dodgy and want to hide your tracks.

You run the same risk when logging on from anywhere ... you could be ARP poised on the local collision domain and...

That's assuming you are on the same broadcast domain. This requires an attacker to be on your own internal network. There are many ways of preventing this from happening, and a lot of networks employ these methods now.

or get Man-In-The-Middled from an upstream hop.

Providing your ISP has not been stupid (and if anything happens it will be their fault), at least it will be an official upstream hop - not some random machine in Russia.

No, I understand you perfectly. But thanks.

Maybe that's why I work in IT (or did until recently) and you don't.

Actually I do.

Bini I had to go take a look after seeing your post. You're right..Not a cloud in the sky.

Just popping by, and I hate to be a killjoy . . . but may I suggest that the thread be closed? On the off-chance that Steve is telling the truth, if he is "outed" he could make a whole lot of trouble for some of the folks here who have been more strident in their activities to expose him.

Then don't post something on a public board that is to remain a secret.
