Vort Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 Last Kiss covered by Pearl JamSurprisingly good. Quote
Vort Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 Not better than the original, but of Led Zeppelin's "Hey, Hey, What Can I Do?" is outstanding. Darius Rucker has the perfect voice to sing Zeppelin, especially this song. Quote
Vort Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 Speaking of Zeppelin covers, here's a pretty good one of " ", one of the top five best-ever Zeppelin songs. Patrick Monahan is no Robert Plant, but he does a good job here. Quote
Vort Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 Oh, and before I forget! Kelly Sweet did a hauntingly beautiful, really amazing cover of ONE STINKING HALF of Aerosmith's best-ever song, " ". Why she didn't finish the song, I will never know, but the second half would have been even more beautiful and touching than the first. Whoever arranged that song for her deserves a handshake for the part of the song he actually did and a beating for not finishing the job. Quote
Wingnut Posted May 10, 2013 Author Report Posted May 10, 2013 Last Kiss covered by Pearl JamI really liked it when they first released it, but I don't like it anymore. Quote
applepansy Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 (edited) I love Peter Hollens and almost everything he does. Here's one of my favorites which is way better than the Taylor Swift version. (Peter and Evynne Hollens)And finally one of my favorite. I think its even better than Andrea Bocelli/Celine Dion: Edited May 10, 2013 by applepansy Quote
JohnnyRudick Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 lulz what's with all the hate on Imagine? MJK's version is one of my favorite songsNot sure about the others but for me,much of what John Lennon seemed to be espousing most of his life of notoriety isAgainst most of what the Church stands for. This song is an anthem of that philosophy. This is NOT one of my favorite set of lyrics. The music, I love it.But the song, not so much. The starting point of what I am talking about is in bold. You can jump in to it from there.(John Lennon's philosophy. He was named correctly by his parents for sure.)ImagineJohn LennonImagine there's no countriesIt isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion, tooImagine all the people Living life in peaceYou, you may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you will join us And the world will be as oneImagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of manImagine all the people Sharing all the worldYou, you may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you will join us And the world will live as one Quote

seeking_peace Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 I can't believe that I'm admitting to this, but I prefer the creepy Marilyn Manson version of Sweet Dreams over the Eurythmic's version. And, less embarrassingly, I prefer Seether's Careless Whisper over the original by Wham! Quote
JohnnyRudick Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 I like Billy Swans version of Hank Williams' Wedding Bells. And I prefer just about all of Ronnie McDowell's covers of Elvis Presley songs. Quote
Wingnut Posted May 12, 2013 Author Report Posted May 12, 2013 And, less embarrassingly, I prefer Seether's Careless Whisper over the original by Wham! It's been a long time since I've listened to that. I don't know that I like it better than the original, but I do like it a lot. It's nice and moody. Quote
