applepansy Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 I think we'll be watching history being made this year as people go to the polls. Are the primaries showing that Americans have awakened the possibilities of losing our freedoms? I can't post the link but here is an exerpt: "Less than one-third of Americans say they are inclined to support their House representative in November, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll, a level lower than in 1994,..." Hemidakota Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 (edited) Well, here the giant fell back to sleep in Cali....given to overdose of energy drink from the previous night. Edited June 10, 2010 by Hemidakota Quote
marshac Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 overdose of energy drink from the previous night.Sounds like me.This fall I'm literally going to vote against everyone currently in office regardless of party affiliation with one exception (my State's AG). It'll be fun. Quote
Hemidakota Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 Cali is trying to pass a measure to allow cross party voting. I am for this...but I need to change my own affiliation to independent or no PARTY AT ALL. :) Quote

I am for this...but I need to change my own affiliation to independent or no PARTY AT ALL. :) Why? There are some who like to cross party lines to disrupt that party. Example - Republicans voting for a Democrat who they know will be a less formidable challenger to their own Republican candidate. Edited June 9, 2010 by HoosierGuy Quote

Politics are really hard on letting people maintain a sense of ethics. So much mud everywhere. This can be devastating to Church whites - those stains are hard to remove. Quote
bytor2112 Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 I am excited....I love change...real change that is...not empty campaign rhetoric like Obama spewed. The GOP is evolving in a good way for a change. It is not the party of "white Christian men only" a stereotypical falsehood spread by race baiting liberal hacks. Indeed this year it is the party of successful women and minority candidates running on very conservative platforms. Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 I'm not really big on open primaries. You don't allow Mormons participate in the selection of the Pope. Why would you let Republicans participate in the selection of the candidate the Democrats feel best embodies their own principles? Quote

I am not using the word hate lightly. They really hate them. Maybe people are starting to make politics personal. Quote
talisyn Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 Americans wake up all the time. It all depends on which side you happen to agree with Quote

There was an ad from one of the guys going after the seat held by Senator Bennett, trying to portray himself as even more rabidly conservative than his Republican opponent. This seems sad to me, since the ousted Bennett represented a sense of decency and steadfastness. This new crop represents the say anything, bar no lie approach represented by Sarah Palin. I would say that Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot, except in Utah they will win no matter what. So it is our collective foot that will be maimed. Quote

If you are thinking that the sleeping giant is associated with the Tea Party movement I think you are dreaming - pun intended. The so-called Tea Party Movement is currently being hijacked by the Republicans and will be used for their power and agenda – not for the freedom of the people. This could not be demonstrated more than by the large amounts of money being spent in efforts to convince the voting public that money does not corrupt certain politicians. Money is the core of every political problem and lie. If we really knew what our beloved politicians were about in Washington we would storm our capitol, drag our politicians into the streets and lynch them. We have only awakened to the point of disliking the other party’s politicians and give shameful allowances to our own. The Giant still sleeps. The Traveler Quote

I disagree - Bennett is a Republican Party buffoon. He botched the entire Y2K political scare to grab and exercise federal powers and never admitted any complicity or make any effort to undo the mess created. He also backed everything Pres. Bush wanted to do dispite cost. Bennett should have been removed for incompetence long ago. He only appeared to succeeded in politics because of his personal wealth. The Traveler Quote

I asked him what he thought of the Tea Party. Answer - Buffoons! lol. Quote
