I have been creeping this forum for some time now and want to be a part of the action. I'm a religious studies major who had no real grasp of LDS besides what Big Love showed me. (I know most LDS dont like that show but I love it) And although I dont really understand a lot of things about LDS the two things I have learned about it from my classes and this forum is your love of God and love of family. Which means it can't be as bad as South Park makes it out to be! (Tasteless joke sorry)

I am a very out there, liberal thinking, hairstylist. (Crazy hair, some tattoos, gay friends, etc.) So I know I should be the last person to post in this forum but I want to make it clear I'm not here to fight or cause trouble. I have just recently reconnected with God after a long time of trying to push Him out of my life for good. And even this is the last church I would ever thought I would be interested in a year ago, I have found myself reading about it, checking these forums, and creepily driving by the local LDS church for months now. Am I crazy? Am I getting a testimony?

Whould I even be welcome?

Yes you would be welcome. Also keep in mind that the show Big Love is really not a true or good representation of LDS.

True, but South Park pretty well nailed it. Except for the "dum dum dum" part... :o

Oh, and welcome!! Yes, socially you do not match the LDS norm, but I think You're right on the money, spiritually speaking (from what you've said so far, anyway). Maybe the LDS 'norm' should be a changin'...

I agree about SP, and even though Big Love does not show a typical LDS family, IMO the characters' convictions are right on.

Welcome Nahilolo!

The great thing I have learned as I struggle to re-build my testimony is that the Mormon church is one of the most forgiving places you could ever go to. I have tattoos, accepted. I owned a bar, was encouraged not to, but they still did not turn on me. Stop into a ward and introduce yourself to people. I hope they are warm welcoming, and loving.
