The most offensive trolls to me are my fellow Evs who pretend to be investigators. I'll never get how lying about one's faith in God is godly, evangelistic or missionary. LDS don't like this either, but the practice actually make MY faith look bad.

There's nothing you can do, PC. People are people regardless of faith.

I love most Evangelicals. In fact, there is a special place in my heart for Jack Chick and his Chick Tracts, as well as Tim Lahye, the author of the Left Behind series.

But you make it look good.

OK...Tim Lahaye got people thinking about the End Times, and Jack Chick...well, wow...Jack...OK, I'll bite...care to explain? Jack's so in-your-face, he's been blackballed by most Christian book stores.

Hahah. I love his Chick tracts, PC. I can't explain it. Maybe it's because they're Kitsch. I tend not to treat them seriously. What I do treat seriously is that he has written comics for decades to teach what he feels is the gospel. Sure, his gospel says that Catholics, Mormons, people who listen to Rock and Roll, Shriners, people who play roleplaying games, Jehovah's Witnesses and anyone who disagrees with him is going to Hell. However, when you realize that he's been writing these for decades, you really do get to see what a hard worker he is.

I respect that, even if I disagree with much of what he says.

Hello, this is Rameumptom's brother. Ram went on a trip to Nigeria, where he was kidnapped by some nefarious people. They are demanding a ransom be paid to get him back. If you'd like to help, as I know you will as he says he's one of the most respected people on this list, you can send money to the following address:

BR-549 Road

Lagos, Nigeria 0025995

Thanks,

I'll be looking forward to your checks. I mean, the bad guys will be receiving your checks and he'll be released soon.

Um, Who did you say I should address this to?

I think forum boards and things like them can bring out the worst in people. One thing that often bothers me is when people get to where they're a little too willing to assume the worst of people. Sure you might have cause to suspect a person is a returning banned member or that they are just a troll, but often we leap before we look. Accusations are thrown out on the barest suspicion.

I recently popped into a Muslim forum just to get a few questions answered. Some other non-Muslim brought up a controversial issue -- "Are Muslims commanded to murder those who apostatize from Islam?" I commented that I too knew of cases where this was done, and was curious where this practice came from. (My parents had the missionaries living in their basement apartment and one of them was a former Muslim convert. He had to keep his identity and location secret because his uncle was looking for him and wanted to kill him for "betraying Islam and shaming the family." I known a few others such cases.) So I pressed for an answer to the question, "Where did this idea get started?" Not too long thereafter, I was accused of being the same person as the original poster. A day later, my account had been banned. Reason given: "Previously Banned Account."

Puzzling as I'd never been to that forum before in my life.

The point is that we, like that Muslim board, can get a little too trigger happy in our zeal to catch those that are pretending to be something/somebody they are not. Getting banned from a Muslim board is no great loss in my estimation, but it hurts my opinion of Islam just a little to see them jumping to unfounded conclusions and assuming the worst of anyone who is admittedly not of their faith. The bigger hurt is being falsely accused of things. I don't like to think that someone coming to this forum will experience the same thing -- but I think it probably happens quite a bit. I think our Mods are going to be a little more thorough/careful than the Muslim board, but you don't need to be a Mod to make a person feel unwelcome.

I have made up many many things on this forum and on my profile. Sometimes, hoping to get a laugh. Sometimes, just to see what response I get. Mostly, because I see my reality as too boring. And how often do "average" things get a response.

When I sign into most anything I try to use my real name and not hide behind a made up avatar.

I feel it is my way of trying to be honest and willing to stand behind my questions and statements.

Just me:cool:

Are you saying my name isn't really FunkyTown? :sneaky:

I'll have you know I come from a long line of FunkyTown men and women, stretching all the way back to Babylon, when the name didn't make nearly so much sense as now because English wasn't around then and it just sounded like gibberish.

Johnny, it is also a way to open yourself up to any and all internet crazies who may disagree with something you said.

I also believe I have your gmail address.

Is this you? Amazon.com: Tags used by Johnny Rudick It looks like it might be.

I am also guessing that you owned an Epson Stylus Photo R260 InkJet Printer in 2007, and it gave you problems that you had to contact Epson over, did you ever get it fixed?

You do a pretty good job with your facebook privacy settings, Joe Rudick, not so much. Patricia Perez, I have a friend that's a Perez, but probably not related, though his profile is just as blank as hers.

How am I doing so far? This is just googling your username.

As someone who has been in exotic bird rescue (and before that wildlife rescue (oh, and the genealogy)) I've gotta say that my phone number is plastered all over the internet. Lots of forum leaders try to save me from myself, but it's just too late.

Now that is one of the things you cannot get of mine.:o

No phone calls please:cool:
