annewandering Posted June 17, 2012 Report Posted June 17, 2012 Heh, I really don't worry about skin cancer! I figure if you take precautions... my belief the sunshine and fresh air is healthier than constant indoor living.ya but from a vanity point of view, I am NOT enjoying all these ugly brown blotches and darkened pigments on my face, arms and body that make it look like I havent taken a bath in years. mnn727 Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 (edited) Texas has winter? M.Yeah, Temps drop down to the 40's and 50's sometimes, but that's usually only in January. 2 years ago we had snow on the ground for 3 days straight! <<shaking head>> I thought I was going to have to move further south. Bini Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 I remember moving from Asia to Utah and thinking holy cow it's freezing here! And that was in SOUTHERN Utah :] Quote
Saguaro Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 Today's expected high, 113 degrees. I don't go around church checking out women's legs, but I'm prettys sure nearly nobody wears panty hose or stockings around here. Quote
pam Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 I remember moving from Asia to Utah and thinking holy cow it's freezing here! And that was in SOUTHERN Utah :] I can relate somewhat to that. But the other way around. I remember moving from Kodiak, Alaska back to San Diego. It was in January and wondering why people in San Diego had jackets and such on. It was so hot..but then I had just come from Alaska. :) Quote

Natives and even long-time residents simply don't bother, or probably even notice. Quote

Last Sunday it was in the high 70's, but I wore a sweater because I know the church is cold - it doesn't get warm until they shut us up in the RS room for Sunday School. Maybe they are trying to give us subliminal messages about what will happen if we don't behave. Also, I grew up in DC, which has heat and humidity, and somehow we all wore pantyhose and lived. Quote
bluedreams Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 I don't even own nylons. The only time I've ever worn them consistently was on my mission and only during the winter (it was cold, any layer was a good layer while tracting). I hate wearing them. I don't think nylons defines whether one is modest or not. I figure if I can wear it without my g's showing I'm good. I've never noticed what other girls do too much. I know a number enjoy them. With luv, BD Quote
mhsmd Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 I only wear a pair of blue fishnet-style (but with a lacy pattern to it) tights. I haven't work tights since I was old enough to dress myself. lol. I could never get down the perfect ratio of slip length that would keep my skirt from sticking to length that wouldn't show past the hem of my skirt. And if I'm in a rush and forget, I even go unshaven. Nylons don't cover anything, so I don't see how they're a modesty issue. If that came up in my RS, I would certainly have something to say about it. It was a cultural thing a few decades ago, but nothing is said of them in For The Strength Of Youth. Quote
eternalpromise516 Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 You will wear knee high or ankle high all-white hosiery. There is absolutely no rule that a woman MUST wear pantyhose!I know, dear iggy :) I was talking about them mainly rolling down all the time on me. I tried some sticky stuff that helps hosiery stay in place and other items of clothing, but it irritates my skin, and I'm sure as rain not about to wear panty hose!! Haha. I'll figure something out when that time comes :) Quote
