Wingnut Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 Where can I find the address/email address/membership office/telephone number for LDS office in Salt Lake?Members’ Communication with Church HeadquartersMembers of the Church are discouraged from making telephone calls or writing letters to General Authorities about doctrinal issues or personal matters. With an ever-increasing Church membership, responding personally to these inquiries presents an almost insurmountable task and would make it difficult for General Authorities to fulfill the duties for which they alone are responsible. The General Authorities love the members of the Church and do not want them to feel that they are without the support and guidance they need. However, all things need to be done with wisdom and order. The Lord has organized His Church so every member has access to a bishop or branch president and a stake, district, or mission president who serve as spiritual advisers and temporal counselors. By reason of their callings, these local leaders are entitled to the spirit of discernment and inspiration to enable them to counsel members within their jurisdiction.Members who need spiritual guidance, have weighty personal problems, or have doctrinal questions should make a diligent effort, including earnest prayer and scripture study, to find solutions and answers themselves. Church members are encouraged to seek guidance from the Holy Ghost to help them in their personal lives and in their family and Church responsibilities. If members still need help, they should counsel first with their bishop. If necessary, he may refer them to the stake president. In most cases, correspondence from members to General Authorities will be referred back to their local leaders. Stake presidents who need clarification about doctrinal or other Church matters may write in behalf of their members to the First Presidency.Handbook 2: Administering the Church, 21.1.24 Quote

LadyArwen Posted September 19, 2012 Author Report Posted September 19, 2012 Dear Pam and Wingnut, thanks so much for the address. I found it, but I use to have the phone number for the Secretary of the Prophet, when President Hinckley was still Prophet, but moving around I lost it. I guess I will have to call my friend Bill Wolf who works at the Salt Lake Welfare Office, something I don't like to do, but it can't be helped. I am in Limbo. Quote
Vort Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 Darn. I had the prophet's direct line written on a scrap of paper around here somewhere. I seem to have misplaced it. Quote
mordorbund Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 Why was anything written on the paper? Quote
LadyArwen Posted September 20, 2012 Author Report Posted September 20, 2012 I was serious. I was not jesting Vort. Quote

Vort Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 Vort was probably serious too.I keep all the telephone numbers of apostles and First Presidency members on scraps of paper lying around in various places. That way, if I ever need to get in touch with someone quickly, odds are there's a telephone number nearby.I wish I had mordorbund's direct line, though. I'm so jealous. Quote
LadyArwen Posted September 21, 2012 Author Report Posted September 21, 2012 must be nice to have all of those on hand. Quote
estradling75 Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 I have to ask... You profile says that you are Jewish... Is that in error? If it is not then why do you need the number? Quote
LadyArwen Posted September 21, 2012 Author Report Posted September 21, 2012 Actually, I am both, in a way. Yes, I used to be an active member, but decided to leave, due to emotional and mental distress. SO last year My husband and I after being ignored by 2 different Bishops, for 6 years when we asked to be removed from the books of the Church, and emotionally and spiritually abused by one, I contacted my friend and former Bishop and he made sure the process was set into motion. My husband received his letter that the action had been finished and that his name had been removed from the Church rolls last November, but mine has not been received as of yet, almost a year later. My friend who had set things in motion, said that he had failed me, and that G-D would require it of his hand and he would have to give account for it to the L-rd, passed away shortly after that statement. I went to his Memorial Service and then a few days later to the VA Cemetery for his Interment, where I told the Bishop that I didn't care what happened to my membership status. I have been calling him for nearly 6 months off and on, to find out what is going on, but he has not responded to any of my calls. I also called my friends who are about to go on a Senior Mission, but they said they didn't know either, so I am trying to find out what is going on and why I have not received my letter yet. I was close to suicide and had lost all my faith in ANY G-D when I left because of the way I was mistreated by a Bishop. I decided to return to my former faith to save my life. This was not done lightly. I hope I have shed a little light on the subject. If you want more information, we will have to PM or something, because I bared my soul as much as I felt comfortable in Public. Quote
