beefche Posted November 3, 2012 Report Posted November 3, 2012 This is the advice forum. You just want us to give you randome advice? 1. floss your teeth regularly. 2. Say please and thank you. 3. Please wear clean socks each day. 4. Put down the donut and pick up a carrot. 5. That shirt doesn't do you any favors. Quote
thebestmeicanb Posted November 3, 2012 Author Report Posted November 3, 2012 lol beef no i was just saying im willing to listen if someone wanted to vent or get some advice if they wanted it Quote
pam Posted November 3, 2012 Report Posted November 3, 2012 I need some advice. How do you handle someone that says that we can talk about anything we want but at the same time says "If it's something they don't want to talk about, they will let us know?" Quote
Guest SquidMom Posted November 3, 2012 Report Posted November 3, 2012 ;)Why don't you tell us something about yourself? Brief of current goings on, etc.? I'm SURE we can all take it from there..... Quote
C_T_R Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 · Hidden Hidden When you see stars, that isn't all they are. The truth isn't as scary as you think it is. To quote a favorite movie, "Most people are jankholes, but I believe there are purists out there." No matter what your past, you can become the latter. And, of course, my signature -- "There's no sense in nonsense, especially when the heat gets hot." Don't waste your awesomeness on empty things. It's a rare gift. That is all.
Vort Posted November 3, 2012 Report Posted November 3, 2012 Dear thebestmeicanb, People refuse to use the subjunctive mood in clearly mandative and counterfactual situations. Every time I hear someone say "If I was you" or hear the sentiment "I wish common sense was more common", I have an overpowering desire to throttle that person. So in such a situation, is killing someone considered murder, or something more like self-defense? Sincerely, Not In The (Subjunctive) Mood Quote
Guest SquidMom Posted November 3, 2012 Report Posted November 3, 2012 Does anyone else often feel the need to have dictionary on hand in order to understand Vort? Seriously. Quote
pam Posted November 3, 2012 Report Posted November 3, 2012 Does anyone else often feel the need to have dictionary on hand in order to understand Vort? Seriously. No. I just don't pay attention to Vort. Quote
C_T_R Posted November 3, 2012 Report Posted November 3, 2012 If you have a chemical imbalance and/or a personality disorder, get help. :) Quote
Wingnut Posted November 4, 2012 Report Posted November 4, 2012 Yes, you need to talk to your bishop about that, not to a bunch of random internet people. Quote
BadWolf Posted November 4, 2012 Report Posted November 4, 2012 I have the Charlie Brown theme song running through my head... But instead of Lucy sitting with "The doctor is in" lemonade stand style clinic... I have Calvin from Calvin & Hobbes visualized instead. Huh. Huh. Can't imagine why. Dooooooo dah do doodoo dah dooo, do! Dooooooo dah do! Quote
thebestmeicanb Posted November 4, 2012 Author Report Posted November 4, 2012 for instance one thing i will not discuss in here is the need for me to defend what i believe or the need that i give proof that what i believe is true (as has been the case in other chat rooms in the past) . Quote
skippy740 Posted November 4, 2012 Report Posted November 4, 2012 That depends on what you say. Here on this forum, the person making an accusation or a "statement of fact" has the burden of proof. You can personally believe what you want... but if you make a case for a group of people that is contrary to common knowledge, be prepared to back it up. Quote
Vort Posted November 4, 2012 Report Posted November 4, 2012 Yes, you need to talk to your bishop about that, not to a bunch of random internet people. But my bishop doesn't use the subjunctive! Quote
MorningStar Posted November 4, 2012 Report Posted November 4, 2012 Do you like white meat or dark meat at Thanksgiving? Quote
thebestmeicanb Posted November 4, 2012 Author Report Posted November 4, 2012 maybe not so much "bad" but disrespectfull people such as guys that have alternative motives for flirting with girls on the net or in chat rooms and there are good people also they are just much harder to find. and to "morning star" white meat made into a sammich fo sho :) Quote
pam Posted November 4, 2012 Report Posted November 4, 2012 (edited) for instance one thing i will not discuss in here is the need for me to defend what i believe or the need that i give proof that what i believe is true (as has been the case in other chat rooms in the past) . Well let me say one thing about that. Anyone that states something as fact especially regarding doctrine has the burden of proof. And they will be asked.I see Skippy beat me to that..but since I had put my manager hat on..I'm just backing up what Skippy says. Edited November 4, 2012 by pam Quote
thebestmeicanb Posted November 5, 2012 Author Report Posted November 5, 2012 that wasnt what i meant about that, what i meant was they say they wanted proof but all they really wanted was to argue about how lds members were wrong. Quote
skippy740 Posted November 5, 2012 Report Posted November 5, 2012 Ah. That's better. We can get behind that. What's really neat about LDS doctrine, is that we can't prove anything. If we could, what would be the point of faith? Quote
thebestmeicanb Posted December 5, 2012 Author Report Posted December 5, 2012 ok so its been a while since ive been to church like 6 months i want to go but i aged out of the ysa ward and my home ward just got a new bishop that i have no interest in talking to at all, so my ? is should i find a different ward to go that i like and then go to that one? Quote
Guest Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 Nope, you should go where you're assigned and make the best of it. :) Also you'll get more answers if you make a separate thread for each issue you'd like advice on. Quote
thebestmeicanb Posted December 5, 2012 Author Report Posted December 5, 2012 well im not the only one that doesnt want to go to the home ward. Quote
Guest Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 I'm not the only one that doesn't like doing laundry and dishes, but my family needs clothes and food, so I do it. On my better days, I do it in the spirit of love and service. Church is about worship and renewing covenants, then service in the Lord's kingdom. Everything else is peripheral. Quote
