Dr T Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Ok, I'd guess we have all said both of these at various times and for different reasons but my question for all is what is typically in you mind or what you would say verbally when you attempt something two times and at your third attempt do you say, "Third time's a charm" or "three strikes and your out"? Dravin Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Depends if the third attempt is a success or not. If it is a success then it is "third time's the charm", if it fails then it is "three strikes and you're out". Quote
Guest Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Or if all 3 tries were a success... Hat Trick! Quote

You'd better get it this time, because there's no such thing as frice." Quote
prisonchaplain Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 As a bowler, I'm okay with three strikes--especially in a row. Now, if I could just getting a bowling score higher than my golf score! Quote
pam Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 I usually say third times a charm. If it fails..I then say...it lies. Quote
Jennarator Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Sounds to me knowbody tries more than three times. What if the third time fails and nobody tries four, becasue, well they are three tries and then they ruled it out? Could work the fourth, fifth or more... Quote

prisonchaplain Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 You turkey. Sad, but true...again, more on the golf course than the bowling alley. I think a double-par is called a turkey, right? Quote
Dr T Posted October 11, 2013 Author Report Posted October 11, 2013 Thank Darvin. In your response you said it depends on the result BUT what is in your mind or what would be in your mind or words before the third attempt? Quote
Dravin Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 (edited) Thank Darvin. In your response you said it depends on the result BUT what is in your mind or what would be in your mind or words before the third attempt?I don't have a broad context go to mental catch phrase that I'm cognizant of, it's probably some variation of, "Ugh, again."
