For those that don't know, the Power Rangers franchise is still a thing.

The current season has actor Yoshi Sudarso as the Blue Ranger.

This past weekend was the annual official fan convention for the franchise. A big highlight event involved the current cast members coming up on stage and announcing the cast members for the next season. 

Yoshi's successor as Blue Ranger? His brother Peter. None of the current cast members were told the identities before the official announcements, meaning that the whole thing was set up to surprise Yoshi with the news that his brother had made it in as well. 

 

 

(Given that Yoshi's character spent generations in suspended animation, and that Yoshi and Peter bear a strong family resemblance, I'm already seeing fans of the franchise asking about the prospect of the show having Peter's character be officially declared a descendant of Yoshi's character in order to have a family relationship in the show as well.)

Dino Thunder is still my favorite Power Rangers series but I have to admit, I haven't paid much attention to Dino Super Charge.  I got some catching up to do before Ninja Steel!

More good news for the good news thread.  I'm sorry I can't find any news site that is publishing this, so I'll just have to tell it myself.

As a result of the flooding going on in Louisiana, many people were without... everything.  The Nat'l guard, pollice, fire, etc were all on the scene to help as many as they could and direct traffic etc.  One man who owns a BBQ truck company decided to do something about it.

He sent his best driver with a truck full of meat smoking towards affected neighborhoods.  The driver got in the truck and decided to head towards the affected areas.  As he got around there, he realized that the people weren't there.  So, he drove around wondering where everyone was being kept and taken care of.  He said a prayer

He drove a bit longer until he looked at the clock and realized it was time for him to change the meat and rub in the smoker in the truck.  So, he stopped and began working on that for a bit.  As he did so, the smell caught the attention of a passerby who asked what he was doing.

"I'm trying to feed the people who lost their homes."

"Well, you're in luck. There are a couple hundred hungry people about a mile down the road."  (I kinda wonder if this was an angel -- the supernatural kind).

So, he got in his truck and headed down the road.  The police officer doing gate duty asked who he was and what he was doing.

"I'm here to help out.  I've got about 800 lbs of meat smoking in the back.  I'm just trying to feed hungry people."  The officer let him through and gave guidance on where and how to set up.

800 lbs of meat.  Think about that.  The meat alone cost thousands of dollars.  Then the rub, the labor, the lost profits, the use of the truck and it's smoker... The owner of that company basically donated about $10k to $15k to help those people.  The driver gave up a day of work.  He was not on the clock and not charging the company for his time that day.  So, he too lost money and time that day to help these people out.

Yes, there are good people in the world trying to do the right thing.  I keep praying for opportunities to serve and help others.  Unfortunately, I just don't seem to be in the right place.
