Brother Dorsey Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 First KFC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KFC shows a sign with "First KFC" in Salt Lake CityWhat's so big about that....if you want I can post a picture of my towns first KFC. Actually it's my towns only KFC. I guess there are not as many chicken lover's in my neck of the woods. We have at least 5 McDonalds, 3 Wendy's, Jack in the boxes, Arby's etc. but only one KFC. Quote
sixpacktr Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Chik-Fil-A beats the absolute crap out of KFC. Alas, there are none in western NY Atlanta had one about every 3 miles it seemed, and they were all packed. Kind of like "Ted's" Hot Dogs here in Buffalo. Quote

Traveler Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 First KFC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KFC shows a sign with "First KFC" in Salt Lake CityThe first KFC was a restraint on State Street in Salt Lake City (about 25th south). I remember going there in my younger days. It was a real restraint complete with linen napkins, silver ware and waitresses – in other words – what we now call “fine” dining, not the fast food variety. It was a Salt Lake icon that is now lost forever in history and time. If you want a good chicken dinner at a real restraint, you will have to travel a bit from SLC to Madox – a nifty restraint just south of Brigham City (the city of my birth) on the old highway 89.The Traveler Quote
Dr T Posted December 11, 2007 Author Report Posted December 11, 2007 That is a great piece of info. Thank you Traveler :) Quote
john doe Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 I dined a few times at the world's first KFC before the building was finally torn down. Now I rarely recognize the area it has changed so much. Quote

It was previously named The Dew Drop Inn. Think of how it would have been different named Utah Fried Chicken!A big shout out to the Maddox Restaurant in Perry, Utah mentioned by Traveler. It has excellent fried chicken (we Mormons like our Chicken and Jell-O). Also the Spring Chicken Inn at Wanship, Utah is worth a visit by tourists and locals. Quote

And they are closed on Sundays, due to religious reasons. Awesome Quote

Man, do I miss the breakfast chicken biscuits! Quote
Moksha Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 The KFC original recipe and gravy are, for some reason, not the same as they used to be. Quote
