I wondering how much of this oil will hit inland by the Hurricane. -
Wow, this so pleasant in reading about other cultures celebrating Christmas. Remarkable though as to this date, 25th of December, 800 AD, was the date of the resurrection of the (Holy) Roman Empire.

No more than a few months ago, it was the hardest moment for me, when we try to forgive ourselves. Whether it was Lucifer or me who brought this old past mistake or sin, I sought for the Lord for an answer again. With me, I consider any sin dangerous; let alone, harboring ill will. It is more-or-less Bytebear, anything that prevents the reception of the Holy Ghost. Standing in Stake Conference while singing one of audience music number, having this self-doubt about forgiveness, I felt an overwhelming sensation that start the crown of my head and electrified the lower portion of the body. Nothing but a warmest love entered the body to the point, I cried uncontrollably to the point I was choked up and cannot sing. What came next, I will leave out but you get the point. You are right...the Lord forgive us for our past mistakes and remembers its no more. I think our biggest challenge, in not having that self-doubt that He did forgive us. I for one, truly marvel over the love of this great brother and GOD. I never knew the atonement (experience wise) until we sit in the judgment seat representing the Master for the Saints. It changes the paradigm how we should treat one another, the way He loves those who are seeking help, to include us.

Any of us...this includes me. I have debated this offline between Gwen and Maya over specific issues that is seen on this board. It has made me realize, what is our end goal for the Savior? It is to help, aid, support, and to build the kingdom for Him and not for us. This means, both members and non-members. we should be walking in His shoes versus our own.

Outside of Sacrament music, I listen to all genre music. What you need to ask yourself Cassious, “does this uplift my soul and give me joy?” Believe or not, there was one love ballad by the band called Kiss, which reverberates to what I am saying. But, it was just one great song. Our selection of music actually defines us in who [inspiring music = worthy thoughts] we are… President Boyd K. Packard (Ensign Jan 1974) stated the following to back up my statement: “Through music, man’s ability to express himself extends beyond the limits of the spoken language in both subtlety and power. Music can be used to exalt and inspire or to carry messages of degradation and destruction. It is therefore important that as Latter-day Saints we at all times apply the principles of the gospel and seek the guidance of the Spirit in selecting the music with which we surround ourselves.” LDS.org - Ensign Article - Inspiring Music—Worthy Thoughts

Brantley, have you consider to ask GOD whether you are right in your thinking? Taking one scripture verse and creating a viewpoint is a poor hopeless attempt. At least look at the set of scriptures from a few verses before and a few after. Then, be Isaiah, place yourself in his environment, culture setting, to what audience was Isaiah speaking too? Last, be familiar with this man texture style of writing in order to comprehend what is being said. Isaiah for most people is the most complex set of scripture next to Paul letters. Let backup a couple of verses here first. The people mentioned in verse 8, the blind and deaf, are similar to those described in Isaiah 42:18-23 JST who ignore the prophet's message. These people are blind and deaf because they have not acknowledged God's workings on earth or listened to the Spirit declare his truths. In the time of restoration, however, their eyes and ears will be opened, and they will understand the Lord's role upon this earth. After they hear the witnesses and see the divine reality, they will all come to know the true Lord of this earth (v. 11; see Isa. 45:23). Next, in verse 9, the Lord summons the nations to bring forth witnesses of his divine plan, if they can. However, they are not able to testify about the former (including premortal) things the Lord has done. So, the Lord turns to Israel and calls his chosen people as witnesses; that God has fulfilled his gracious plan for the world is manifest best in the records of the house of Israel. They alone testify that the Lord has provided salvation and resurrection for the world and eternal life for those who desire to receive it. Israel is not only God's special witness, but also his servant to the world, and her inspired records are to go to all people. No other nation can give a similar witness of its gods. Israel's message to the world is highlighted in verses 11-13. Here the pronoun I appears twelve times to emphasize that Jehovah alone is the savior of this earth. Verse 11 is the triumphal climax to this declaration, for three important names of God are found therein. The verse begins with "I, I am," a phrase that calls to mind the title, "I AM," the name by which God identified himself to Moses on Mount Sinai. The divine speaker of the verse then declares that he is "the Lord" (Jehovah from the Hebrew Yahweh). He reveals his role as redeemer by identifying himself as the only "savior" of this world. The word savior is the common Old Testament term used to describe the God of Israel. He is to be Israel's ultimate redeemer because he is also the "anointed one," or the Messiah. (Translated into Greek, the Aramaic word Messiah becomes Christ.) Therefore, the terms Savior, Messiah, and Christ all emphasize the importance of Jehovah's role in God's plan. The German scholar F. Delitzsch provides a helpful insight into the relationship between two of these terms: [savior] and Jehovah are kindred epithets here; just as in the New Testament the name Jehovah sets, as it were, but only to rise again in the name Jesus, in which it is historically fulfilled. Jehovah's precious self-manifestation in history [as in Isa. 43:11] furnished a pledge of the coming redemption. (Keil-Delitzsch, Commentary on the Old Testament 2:194.) Thus, Jehovah promises Israel that he will eventually come as the Savior of this earth. Centuries after Isaiah composed chapter 43, Joseph Smith borrowed some of Isaiah's terminology in his praise of the Lord in the preface to the marvelous revelation on the three degrees of glory: "Hear, O ye heavens, and give ear, O earth, and rejoice ye inhabitants thereof, for the Lord is God, and beside him there is no Savior." (D&C 76:1; see Isa. 1:2; 43:11.) This verse does not say that no other Gods exist, but rather that only Jehovah (Jesus Christ) is the Savior and through him alone is salvation. (See Hel. 5:9; 2 Ne. 25:20.) The first chapter of Genesis indicates that other Gods have been involved with this earth, but the Lord, in speaking to ancient Israel, wants it clearly understood that he is to be their sole savior. (See Gen. 1:26.) Continuing in verse 12, the Lord charges Israel to accept her role as a special witness of him. In addition to foretelling his triumph, Israel is to serve as a second witness and to announce his role as the Savior to the earth. Members of covenant Israel are now fulfilling this charge as they send missionaries into the world to testify of Jesus Christ. (Bruce R. McConkie, CR, Apr. 1977, p. 135.) (Credit: Isaiah: Prophet, Seer, and Poet by Victor L. Ludlow) Again, one more time with a different twist in highlighting a few words here: 43:10 Ye are my witnesses. This phrase is repeated in 43:12. The children of Israel were chosen to be witnesses of Jehovah and bear testimony of him to the world. Sometimes Israel has failed to do so, because her people were spiritually blind. In our own day we, the house of Israel (especially Ephraim and Manasseh), are instructed to bear witness of our God, as modern-day prophets have explained. know and believe me/understand. We are told to seek knowledge of the Lord's nature and character so we are able to understand who he is and can bear a stronger witness of him (see D&C 19:23). I am he. This clear statement answers the question asked in 43:9: "Who among them can declare this?" The expression also recalls Jehovah's title—I Am (Ex. 3:14). before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. In Isaiah's great discussion of false gods and idols (chapters 40-46), he assures both ancient and modern Israel that Jehovah is God. 43:11 beside me there is no savior. Jehovah, who is Jesus Christ, is the Savior of the world. There is no other Savior. Hopefully this helps in giving a greater clarity on what is Isaiah is stating...

Scholar's Corner: The stolen chapters of Mosiah
Hemidakota replied to Hemidakota's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Mormon narration of 500-years of history = Large Plates. Sorry. I went back and change it. Even though I used this term, the discovery of the smaller plates, Mormon was seeking more information among the plates he held in his possession to fill gap history of the larger plates to Mosiah. The smaller plates were simply added into the plates collection stated in the Words of Mormon, read again what he states above, with his narration of Nephite history. We already know, Joseph did translate Mormon own narration of the larger plates up to KB, this was the missing manuscript. He did not translate smaller plates of Nephi until after the fact. In the LDS Church News, 1988 "The two pages comprising The Words of Mormon are approximately 500 years out of context," wrote Daniel H. Ludlow in A Companion to Your Study of the Book of Mormon. "Note the approximate date at the end of the book of Omni is 130 B.C. whereas the Words of Mormon are dated about 384 A.D.... "The Words of Mormon were apparently written near the end of Mormon's life for the purpose of connecting two major records. It was made known to Mormon 'by the workings of the Spirit of the Lord' that the small plates of Nephi (which ended when Benjamin was an old man about ready to die). "So that a gap would not occur in the history of the Nephites, Mormon included major events of the life-time of King Benjamin in The Words of Mormon, thus connecting the account on the small plates of Nephi with Mormon's abridgment of the book of Mosiah." In a chapter in Studies in Scripture: 1 Nephi to Alma 29, Victor L. Ludlow wrote: "At the beginning of the Book of Mormon history, Nephi had been commanded to make two separate sets of plates. After starting what would be known as the large plates of Nephi, he was later commanded to make a set of more religious records, known as the small plates of Nephi. (1 Ne. 9:2,4 and 1:17.) "After Nephi's death, the large plates remained with the kings down to the time of Mormon, while the small plates went to Jacob and his posterity until the time of Amaleki, who gave them to King Benjamin. Thus the two sets of plates were back into the possession of one person. "After Mormon had completed his abridgment of 500 years of Nephite history, he may have been somewhat surprised to find the small plates of Nephi, which largely duplicated his efforts. Instead of keeping only one of the sets of records, Mormon was prompted to include the small plates with his abridgment, without really knowing why. (W of M 1:7.)" One hundred sixteen pages of manuscript from the plates of Mormon were lost after Joseph Smith had translated them. Since the small plates contained a more spiritual account of the same time period, the teachings of greater value were preserved. Thanks again...I never seen it myself in comparing my own thinking until I added this reference. -

Scholar's Corner: The stolen chapters of Mosiah
Hemidakota replied to Hemidakota's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Now that is new one on me...I have to read it. Late edit: "And it hath become expedient that I, according to the will of God, that the prayers of those who have gone hence, who were the holy ones, should be fulfilled according to their faith, should make a record of these things which have been done—Yea, a small record of that which hath taken place from the time that Lehi left Jerusalem, even down until the present time. Therefore I do make my record from the accounts which have been given by those who were before me, until the commencement of my day; And then I do make a record of the things which I have seen with mine own eyes. . . . I am Mormon, and a pure descendant of Lehi . . . (3 Nephi 5:14-17, 20)." --------------------------------------------- 3 And now, I speak somewhat concerning that which I have written; for after I had made an abridgment from the plates of Nephi, down to the reign of this king Benjamin, of whom Amaleki spake, I searched among the records which had been delivered into my hands, and I found these plates, which contained this small account of the prophets, from Jacob down to the reign of this king Benjamin, and also many of the words of Nephi. 4 And the things which are upon these plates pleasing me, because of the prophecies of the coming of Christ; and my fathers knowing that many of them have been fulfilled; yea, and I also know that as many things as have been prophesied concerning us down to this day have been fulfilled, and as many as go beyond this day must surely come to pass— 5 Wherefore, I chose these things, to finish my record upon them, which remainder of my record I shall take from the plates of Nephi; and I cannot write the hundredth part of the things of my people. 6 But behold, I shall take these plates, which contain these prophesyings and revelations, and put them with the remainder of my record, for they are choice unto me; and I know they will be choice unto my brethren. (plates where added after the fact) 7 And I do this for a wise purpose; for thus it whispereth me, according to the workings of the Spirit of the Lord which is in me. And now, I do not know all things; but the Lord knoweth all things which are to come; wherefore, he worketh in me to do according to his will. 8 And my prayer to God is concerning my brethren, that they may once again come to the knowledge of God, yea, the redemption of Christ; that they may once again be a delightsome people. 9 And now I, Mormon, proceed to finish out my record, which I take from the plates of Nephi; and I make it according to the knowledge and the understanding which God has given me. 10 Wherefore, it came to pass that after Amaleki had delivered up these plates into the hands of king Benjamin, he took them and put them with the other plates, which contained records which had been handed down by the kings, from generation to generation until the days of king Benjamin. (Words of Mormon 1:3-9) Ok, here are my thoughts on this: 1] The small plates of Nephi was discountinued for about 500 plus years until 385AD (see Book of Mormon v.2:1). This abridgement was added to the smaller plates of Nephi. Later. Joseph Smith seperated Mormon writing from the smaller plates when the manuscript was lost. The portion of the larger plates, still continue but after KB. 2] These plates were added to his collection of work and handed over to Moroni. 3] Moroni added his words until there were no more room. 4] Moroni adds Lehi record 5] Moroni adds his plates Justice, I am convince Mormon extended the small plates of Nephi to the book of Mosiah. What is seen, the small plates of Nephi was a religious record of early Nephites, and Mormon's abridgment of the large plates of Nephi from the Mosiah to his record was a religious record of later Nephites. The Words of Mormon, added textual history to the small plates of Nephi thus combined the two great religious records into one book. He had the larger plates [Lehi --> kings ---> to his day] , which was completed to his days. He also had the smaller plates, which we find his record was added on as the last reminding plates were mostly either blank or was added too. There is no known answer for this. He made the abridgement not before but after the larger plates. Noting the end of the smaller plate record, Mormon filled the gap to what was the larger plates. He two set of records as stated above scriptures (see verse 6). What I suspect the order of the plates Joseph Smith witnessed: MORMON NARRATION ----> SMALLER PLATES + WORDS OF MORMON + BOOK OF MORMON + [WORDS] MORONI ----> JAREDITE ----> MORONI We can easily see, Mormon used the larger plates to bridge the gap of the smaller plates then added the smaller plates at the end of the larger plates collection. Two set of records. Remember, the larger plates already had the history from Lehi to his days from the collection that was given to him by Amaleki. Moving on, Mormon abridged his own words on the smaller plates as stated, included chapter 1 thru 5. But, chapter 6 thru 7, it looks like it was written after the final battle when we see the result of the final battle. So what happened to the larger plates of Nephi? Even the Book of Lehi, or the larger plates, seemed to end at later portion of King Benjamin tenure. I believe the next plates were the Plates of Mosiah (chapter 2) when KB handed the reign to Mosiah. Puzzling here, we do know Amaleki was the last writer of the small plates when you read Omni 1:30, then Mormon adds his abridgement (Words of Mormon). Did he in fact add another plate to the smaller record? Or as I stated, used the remaining portion of the plates (Words or Mormon 1:5)? -

Regards to exercising evil spirits of possessed bodies, why don't we use the term “In the name of - - - GOD --- or Elohim --- or Lord ---- or Jehovah? It is an interesting coloration between two points, the title ‘Jesus Christ’, and the authority itself is based on. But, that is another topic… Let me redirect the question to not mince eternal terms, what is this power comprised of and why it is obeyed by all intelligences - both good and evil? How GOD does receive HIS power? What was the point of Lucifer asking for GOD's honor? I do understand the problems we face in church with eternal volnocalry usage with today’s writings, these terms are often mixed back and forth, as with the usage of spirit and intelligence, another common twisting of wordage in our corrupted English language.
