After seeking an answer from the Lord in the Temple, should I serve on a mission, I was given a NO answer. I was completely disappointed, wanted to move on with my conversion of life. But what I failed to learn, it was the ‘WILL’ of the Lord to remain in my occupation for one reason, my location and the woman I will meet one year later, would be the one to be sealed. I told myself, if I could not serve a full time mission, then I would do what I could to live and preach the gospel of Christ for two years. During that timeframe, not to deter my commitment of temple marriage, I started dating who I suspect would be an eternal compatible companion. After lengthy daily prayers, I received an answer to my quest to whom to marry but, noting the answer was not clear as noon-day, I would keep dating until the Holy Ghost would tell me if this was the one. Yes! Our naïve culture conditioning and being a convert to the church, we have our preconceive image of what is incredible companion should be. I have laugh now after many years of marriage. When I learned from this experience, do not ask for something if you are not willing to honor the answer given. Well, being a YA pool party one day, a new non-member investigator (came to Hawaii on a holiday) of the church was thrown in the deep part of the pool with her clothes on. I felt terrible on what had happen by a few friends and jumped in to help her struggling to get to the side of the pool. When I touched her and looked into her eyes, I felt a sensation I never experience before that cannot be explained but I knew the feelings of the Holy Ghost confirmed my suspicions afterwards this was the one. To short the story, I still dated others when she left for home. Hey! It's Hawaii… Why? I felt she was complete opposite of me and felt her arrogance and disdain what I believed in. After another year of on and off dating, I felt the promptings of the Spirit again this was her. Now, I tell you, I felt terrible for allowing myself to not honor the previous answer. The moral of this experience, what we suspect is the Mr. Right or Ms. Right, may not be the one after all. I wish, I was better prepared and spiritual matured before this happened though. She never lets me forget.

Did you repent of those misdeeds? Did the Lord forgive you? If both questions have been answered with a "YES" then blanked this from your memory. It is not to be brought at anytime, now, or ever. Move forward with your life...as the Savior told the Prophet Joseph Smith: Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more. (Revelation for the elders of the Church, Aug. 1, 1831) D&C 58:42 Here some additional thoughts from past prophets: President Spencer W. Kimball - In connection with repentance, the scriptures use the phrase, "with all his heart" (See D&C 42:25). Obviously this rules out any reservations. Repentance must involve an all-out, total surrender to the program of the Lord. (The Miracle of Forgiveness, p. 203) TLDP:548 Prophet Moroni, son of Mormon - But as oft as they repented and sought forgiveness, with real intent, they were forgiven. (Moroni writes for the benefit of the Lamanites, A.D. 400-421) Moro.6:8 Prophet Mormon - Therefore I say unto you, Go; and whosoever transgresseth against me, him shall ye judge according to the sins which he has committed; and if he confess his sins before thee and me, and repenteth in the sincerity of his heart, him shall ye forgive, and I will forgive him also. (The voice of the Lord to Alma, about 120-100 B.C.) Mosiah 26:29

Mordorbund, you have great points. I apologized. It can be hard at times in digesting the earlier brethren thoughts on specific subjects. Using scriptures based on this principle, I turned to D&C 88:41 and it states: "He is above all things, and in all things, and is through all things, and is round about all things; and all things are by him, and of him, even God, forever and ever." (D. & C. 88:41) Some questions here…how is this possible? How can GOD be omnipresent in HIS creation when we know with surety, HE is a immortal and glorified Being? One scripture that stumped the universal church of the past and yet, explaining HIS presence was the Book of Acts. It states: "In him we live, and move, and have our being." (Acts 17:28) We do know today, based on Acts quote, sectarian world attempts to justify its false creeds which describe Deity as a vague, ethereal, immaterial essence which fills the immensity of space and is everywhere and nowhere in particular present. More-or-less, a floating mass of energy of intelligent light. We know that GOD is the Creator; the power, the light, our influence, and HIS spirit that goes forth from HIS being to fill all immensity of creation. I believe the change of this simple truth may have come from the apostates of that day. Paul strongly opposed this false notion about GOD’s presence and Being and stated this to the Romans: "...changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever." (Romans 1:25) I do believe GOD is an immanent Being, meaning, that the light of Christ shines forth from him to fill all space. In the same Doctrine and Covenant section explains it all: "…light proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space — The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things, which is the law by which all things are governed, even the power of God who sitteth upon his throne, who is in the bosom of eternity, who is in the midst of all things." (D. & C. 88:12-13) Now what astrophysics energetic particle called today that could fill the immensity of space? But I believe there is something even beyond this particle reaching in all direction of our known universe and the GOD bearing intelligence it does carry. I can say, our science gives it a different name from what our scriptures call the “Light OF Christ”. You stated, is it possible to have faith without HIS omnipresence, I cannot fathom any place within HIS creation not having omnipresence feelings of HIM. If it was, we are sitting in outer darkness. My opinion, there is no presence of the FATHER in this sphere, which is completely outside of all none creation. It is not the same as chaos as most would gladly tell you. It is part of our essence to have this showering affect called the Light of Christ on a continues basis.

July 06, 1830— Harmony, Pennsylvania. Joseph Smith received D&C 26, a revelation regarding scripture study and common consent. (History of the Church, 1:104) Historical Setting: In early July of 1830 the fledgling Church was barely ninety days old. There were, at that time, no wards or stakes, no seventies, high priests, or bishops. There were no quorums. There was not as yet a First Presidency, or general authorities. The only executive or presiding officers were the First and Second Elders of the Church. The Prophet Joseph had just returned to Harmony, Pennsylvania from Colesville, New York. The main body of the Church—if we call the small handful of members a body—was still in New York and now growing mostly in and around Colesville. Persecution was on the rise. Joseph's missionary work aroused the ire of some in Colesville; he was tried and acquitted of disorderly conduct and for setting the country in an uproar by preaching the Book of Mormon. But the foundation had been laid, and the first thirteen members of a vital and historic branch of the Church had just been baptized. Section 26, just two verses long, was one of three revelations which came to the Prophet shortly after his return from Colesville. In this short message, the Lord told Joseph how he should spend time until the next conference. "And then it shall be made known unto you what you shall do." The Prophet was to continue his study and translation of the Bible, 1 as well as build up and strengthen the members of the Colesville Branch (v. 1). Then he was reminded that "all things shall be done by common consent in the church" (v. 2). (Studies in Scripture, Vol. 1: The Doctrine and Covenants, by Robert L. Millet, Kent P. Jackson, p.144) Joseph Smith, Jun. - We now became anxious to have that promise realized to us, which the angel that conferred upon us the Aaronic Priesthood had given us, viz., that provided that we continued faithful, we should also have the Melchizedek Priesthood, which holds the authority of the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. We had for some time made this matter a subject of humble prayer, . . . and more particularly to seek of the Lord what we now so earnestly desired; and here, to our unspeakable satisfaction, did we realize the truth of the Savior's promise—"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you"—for we had not long been engaged in solemn and fervent prayer, when the word of the Lord came unto us in the chamber [of father Whitmer in Fayette], commanding us that I should ordain Oliver Cowdery to be an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ; and that he should also ordain me to the same office; and then to ordain others, as it should be made known unto us from time to time. We were, however, commanded to defer this our ordination until such times as it should be practicable to have our brethren, who had been and who should be baptized, assembled together, when we must have them decide by vote whether they were willing to accept us as their spiritual teachers or not; when also we were commanded to bless bread and break it with them, and to take wine, bless it, and drink it with them; afterward to proceed to ordain each other according to the commandment; then call out such men as the Spirit should dictate, and ordain them; and then attend to the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, upon all those whom we had previously baptized, doing all things in the name of the Lord. (HC 1:60-61, italics added.) Background Narration: Charles W. Penrose It may seem rather a dry and formal matter to some of the people to come together and lift up their hands to sustain the authorities of the Church, but it is a necessary duty and if we look at it properly, we shall take pleasure therein. It may seem a little monotonous, but as I have said, it is necessary, for it was designed by the Almighty in the organization of this Church, that the voice of the people should respond to the voice of the Lord. It is the voice of the Lord and the voice of the people together in this Church that sanctions all things therein. [sec. 20:63-66.] In the rise of the Church the Lord gave a revelation which said that "all things shall be done by common consent." And the Lord designs that every individual member shall take upon him or her the spirit of the Church, and be an active living member of the body. (JD, November 29, 1879, 21:45-46.) Joseph F. Smith President Smith. . . presented the authorities of the Church, first remarking that "we desire that the brethren and sisters will all feel the responsibility of expressing their feelings in relation to the propositions that may be put before you. We do not want any man or woman who is a member of the Church to violate their conscience. Of course, we are not asking apostates or non-members of the Church to vote on the authorities of the Church. We are only asking for members of the Church in good standing to vote on the propositions that shall be put before you, and we would like all to vote as they feel, whether for or against." (CR, October 1902, p.83) Section Header Notes: Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet, Oliver Cowdery, and John Whitmer, at Harmony, Pennsylvania, July, 1830. Instructions as to immediate duty—Reaffirmation of the principle of common consent in Church affairs. Versus amount: 2 Suggested link: D&C 24 & 25 Summary and Conclusion: It is important to note that the Lord gave every individual the opportunity to know for himself of the source of callings and actions within the Church. The Lord said the implementation of the Law of Common Consent shall be accompanied " . . . by much prayer and faith, for all things you shall receive by faith." (D&C 26:2) (Sacred Truths of the Doctrine and Covenants , vol. 1 by L. G. Otten, C. M. Caldwell, p.123)

Reminds of the invasion we did in the 1800s (mexican US War of 1846-1848). Perhaps, it is wiser to have one nation throughout the north and south continents - a union of states. Having a immigration problem, does it matter now?
