  1. So in other words, you do not accept @LiterateParakeet's answer because she's not wording it with the words that you want her to type? If it was the other way around, would you condemn conservatives efforts at shutting down leftist right to free speech? M.
  2. It's that time again with watching multiple hockey games in the evenings. I do have one team that I'm hoping wins because they are way overdue but due to weird sports superstitions, I won't say which team it is, but it's easy enough to guess. I am very happy that the Islanders swept the Penguins more because I dislike the Penguins but also because Eberle is with the Islanders. I am absolutely shocked that the Lightning also got swept. They were the top team this season, winning over 60 games; way above any other team. But as is usually, once the playoffs start the slate is wiped clean and all teams start fresh, so anything goes. I am cheering for the Flames, the Jets and the Maple Leafs because they are all Canadian teams and also the Stars because my husband's cousin's son is on that team. Is anyone else watching the Stanley Cup playoffs? M.
  3. I'm going to guess that "scum" is an acronym related to mathematics. M.
  4. From some of the complaints I've read, it seems the HCO is wanting and expecting students to tattle; and you can get into trouble yourself if you don't tattle, even if you say you don't know anything. M.
  5. We could amalgamate Third and Hour into Thour and name the members Thourites. M.
  6. If you want to hear some crazy names watch the Funny Utah Names Videos for Girls and Boys on this link: http://wesclark.com/ubn/ M.
  7. Of all the names on that list, Declan is my favorite. It's of Irish origin. A very important person, associated with this forum named one her sons Declan. M.
  8. "...but it seems that on this issue our churches, and indeed most of Christianity..." Are you missing a word or am I reading this incorrectly? I want to ask "most of Christianity" what? Did you want to say "agree"? The sentence structure is driving me crazy. M.
  9. But they're so pretty and nice to look at. 😊 M.

  12. It might surprise you then that Protestants and Catholics share beliefs, as in the Trinity. What you seem to see as heretical may just be a different style of worship (liturgy) or a misunderstanding of Catholic belief. M.
  13. No where in this thread has @AbramM said he wants to convert his girlfriend. That seems to be the story that so many posters here are creating. He didn't really even understand her faith until he came to this forum. All he's trying to do is understand what she believes and based on what she tells him (if she ever will tell him), he will know what he will do. M.
  14. I have no idea how you have come to this conclusion with the information that @AbramM has provided in regards to his beliefs and his situation. He has stated he believes in the Trinity, he has faith in Christ and in Christ's power to save. He seems to have dedicated his life to God. He is looking for someone with the same beliefs as him to spend the rest of his life with. He thought he found her and was surprised to find out that who he thought she was and what she believes may not be so. He has a dilemma, because this girl does not appear to want to share her beliefs with him. She agrees to attend church services with him and then doesn't keep her word. He can't read her mind, so all he can do is have patience that she will eventually open up to him. If it turns out they do share the same beliefs then they can move forward in their relationship. If they do not share the same beliefs, then @AbramM has said he will end the relationship. M.
  15. His creation of mankind and the world didn't make him God. He was God before he created anything. M.
  16. I'm not sure scripture has ever explained how God is God. The only thing I can think of is when God declares himself as "I AM". Meaning "I am who I am". A declaration of self-existence, self-sufficency. M.
  17. Because in understanding the trinity we cannot conflate the words 'person' and 'being'. The Father and Son are not separate 'beings' they are distinct 'persons'. Scripture shows that God the Son is distinct from God the Father. M.
  18. Explain to me how @AbramM explaining the 'how' of the Trinity will help him with his dilemma with his girlfriend. We don't really know what she believes. It also appears that neither does @AbramM. M.
  19. @unixknight, would you say that in how you view the Godhead the words 'personage' and 'being' can be interchanged? Because in understanding the Trinity, the words 'person' and 'being' are defined differently. In the Trinity, there is only ONE divine BEING. The persons of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit can be identified as individually God (one being) or collectively God (one being). So therefore Jesus is God (one being) and the Father and Holy Spirit are God (one being). But there are not three Gods (three beings), there is only ONE God (one being). M.
  20. Definition of modalism : the theological doctrine that the members of the Trinity are not three distinct persons but rather three modes or forms of activity (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) under which God manifests himself M.
  21. My post is in reply to @unixknight's post. But to be able to bridge the gap between @AbramM and his girlfriend, we would have to know what his girlfriend really believes. M.
  22. The Trinity states that God is one, there is only one divine being, and that divine being is God. And from before the beginning of time that divine being has existed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, 3 distinct persons. Father, Son and Holy Spirit have relationships with each other, they are individually and collectively God. Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord (Deuteronomy 6:4) Wherefore thou art great, O Lord God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears. (2 Samuel 7:22) O Lord, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears. (1 Chronicles 17:20) Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me... (Isaiah 46:9) The Godhead as believed by the Latter-day Saints says this from lds.org: ...But where Latter-day Saints differ from other Christian religions is in their belief that God and Jesus Christ are glorified, physical beings and that each member of the Godhead is a separate being. https://www.lds.org/topics/godhead?lang=eng M.
  23. You definitely are not describing trinitarianism you are describing modalism. M.
  24. I don't know if anyone else has commented on this quote, so this may have already been mentioned but, as an ex-Catholic @unixknight you should know that the trinitarian answer would be the Father, the 1st person of the Trinity. M.
