  1. We don't worship Christ. But the only way we can properly worship God is through Jesus Christ.
  2. The way I visualize intelligences is tiny points of energy. I agree with this: Intelligence + Personage of Spirit created by immortal parents --> Spirit Spirit + Physical body created by mortal parents --> Man Joseph Smith said that Spirits are just finer forms of matter. And there are really only two things that exist in the universe, matter and energy. Neither can be created only converted. Wether or not the Jehovah intelligence was more intelligent that all the other intelligences, or if he was the most intelligent of all the intelligences, it is really irrelevant. Either way the Jehovah intelligence was at the top. Agreed. I don't agree. One must first have a perfect immortal physical body before one can become a God. Christ was not a God. But He was the elected one of all the spirit children. And because of that He was given a special place inhe Godhead. Of course it's all really relative anyway. Christ is a sense is God becaause He perfectly represents God on the earth. So basically if you are dealing with Christ you are dealing with God. Also I would say that Christ could be classified as a God because He has been resurrected. But I would still say that Christ is not a God becuase he probably has not yet become the God of His own universe. He is still functioning as God's representative here on earth. It's a lot more complicated than that but that's the jist of it. Disagree. christ and the Holy Ghost are not omniscient. Only God the Father is ominscient. Agree. He didn'tknow what it would feel like. Only Physical bodies can "feel." I agree. I agree. Diagree. We all recieved as much knowledge as possible in the Premortal world. That is why God brought forward the Planof Salvation so that we could continue our progression. Disagree. God asked who He should send. The field was open to anyone who wanted it. Disagree. The fact the Christ was sinless and He died is pointless if you leave out the atonement. Christ had to be innocent AND punished for mankind's sins. The price for our sins had to be paid. We could pay for our own sins but the result of that punishment would bepointless because it would render us incapable of returning to God anyway. Only through Crist can our sins be paid for AND we can return to Heavenly Father. So Yes I do believe little Children are innocent. Truely 100% innocent. But what makes their deaths different than Christ's is that Christ was punished for all mankind. Also another note, Christ wasn't killed He gave up his own life. An important distinction. Because of Christ's divine nature he was the only person who could willfully seperate His body and Spirit. That is also why He was the first to be resurrected. He was the only one capable of willfully doing it.
  3. I don't think that it is literally one third of the pre mortal spirits but rather on third means part. A part of the premortal spirits followed Lucifer. But as far as the divisions I don't think there are any sort of grouping I think it was a spectrum. A spectrum of commitment and loyalty with Jehovah and Lucifer at the extreme ends.
  4. The Church Joseph smith organized in 1830 was called the Church of Christ. Over time it used some varied names including the Church of the Latter Day Saints. Finally the church's name was established by revelation as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After the death of Joseph Smith the church broke apart following after different leaders. I don't think we will make much progress in building the City of Zion or any of the other important events, prior to the coming of Christ, until we can become unified again.
  5. I've heard that many times. I guess it makes sense in some respects. Probably more of those spirits who were the closest to choosing Satan's plan but yet still choose to follow Christ have been sent here. These Spirits would have a more wicked nature than those who were less inclined to follow Satan.
  6. Sounds good to me. That's pretty much my understanding. It seems that the Book of Mormon is a good example of what would happen on other worlds. Prophets testify of Christ. After resurrection christ visits those worlds. Etc.
  7. Or as Galileo told the Roman church.
  8. Hey I said "IF" and then offered some other theories.
  9. Can God know something that is unknowable? Can God make something to heavy for Him to lift? We can do this all day.
  10. Noah was actually quite a few generations from Adam. Here is a list: Adam Seth Enos Cainan Mahalaleel Jared Enoch Methuselah Lamech Noah Now as to where the Ark was. This depends alot on your views. If you view that the continents were still together and then broke apart during that days of Peleg(Gen 10:25) then it's possible that Noah could have built the ark anywhere. Becasue the ark was built before the earth was "divided" in the days of Peleg. But if you go with more traditional views taht the continents were already broken apart. Then Noah would have built the Ark in either North or South America. Since the garden of Eden(Independence, Missouri) was in North America. The children of Adam and Eve would have dwelled in North/South America. Then the flood would have transported Noah to the "Old World." Anyway we're going to assume that Noah built is Ark in North America. Apparently Moroni, on his way to bury the plates, made several stops. He consecrated these places. We get this inofrmation from prophets who have talked about it. On of these was the Manti temple location. I refer you to this thread: http://www.lds.net/forums/lds-gospel-discussion/29041-significant-consecrating-three-specific-temples-site-moroni.html Any of those sites consecrated by Mornoi could possibly be the site where Noah built the Ark. Of course so could any other place. But I like the idea of one of these places being the actual location. Yes there were people marrying more than one wife during the time of Adam-Noah. Although it is not known if any of the Prophets did. Noah had three sons. They probably helped him build it. Everybody else was wicked. As far as species are concerned I don't think all of those species lived in that location at that time. I've read accounts of God guiding animals to the Ark location and then they were loaded onto the ship. No when we consider that all different types of dogs can from the same initial breed of dog then it is resonable to conclude that many other animals had the same thing. So Noah didn't have to load every single type of animal onto the ark. But there are still complexities to the story. Also we have to consider how long the animals remained in the ark. Anyway there's some basic information. I'll respond in greater detail when i go to work tonight. I have a chart with all the people in Genesis on my laptop. So I can give you a date for Noah at that time.
  11. I wouldn't watch the Super Bowl even if it wasn't on Sunday. Even the commercials aren't worth it. Why would I want to sit there and be advertized to.
  12. I believe God knows all things. He knows who will make it and who wont. He must know everything to be God. But just because God knows what we will do that doesntmean we are forced to do that thing. God knows the result of our choices. He knows what we will choose. But we must still make those choices. But just because God knows who will make it does not mean that He will give us blessings based on that. If God gave blessings only to those who would go to the celestial kingdom then He would be unjust.
  13. Historically women have been able to be sealed to more than one man on rare occasions. Section 132 permits the sealing of one woman to more than one husband. Doctrine and Covenants 132:41 41 And as ye have asked concerning adultery, verily, verily, I say unto you, if a man receiveth a wife in the new and everlasting covenant, and if she be with another man, and I have not appointed unto her by the holy anointing, she hath committed adultery and shall be destroyed. This verse states that if a man recieves a wife and if she is with another man then she has committed adultery. But it includes the phrase, "and I have not appointed unto her by the holy anointing." So a women who a married to a man and is "with" another man has committed adultery. But if the other man has been appointed unto her by the holy anointing, then she has not committed adultery. I don't know if this means that the other man is the one who is anointed or if it is the woman who is anointed. Joseph Smith was sealed to a couple women who already had husbands.
  14. What is retroactively issuing a sealing clearance?
  15. Hmm, I haven't heard that before. Aw, come on. They're so fun.
  16. In Joseph Smith's plan for the City of Zioin there were to be twenty-four temples each identical in design. Some basic information as to the design of these temples was given on the Plat of Zion. This inlcuded a layout of the city as well as description of the temples. The was later updated with a second Plat of Zion. The city's size and shape were revised. Also some elements of the temples were revised. Here's I've tried to come up with an illustration of what the temples in the City of Zion would look like. I've used all the information I have available about the revised design of the temples. Some information is not available so I added my own design elements. This is what some believe was supposed to happen. Joseph Smith gave the basic layout for the temples and it was up to the builders to fill in the details. Anyway here is my almost completed drawing: My improvized part is the steps going up to the doors. They need a little work. I still need to add: - The bell tower - Door details - Name of the Temple - "Holiness to the Lord" - Other details You can see my little red guys I use for scale. I'll be removing them for the final version. EDIT: I should add that I was inspired by John Hamer's work. He drew some of teh temple illustrations used on wikipedia. 17. So I was watching Cast Away the other day and today a thought occured to me. Yes this is one of those "what if" things. So we have a faithful LDS couple. They were married and sealed in the temple. Now say the wife was traveling on an airplane, or it could be a boat. Now lets say the airplane/boat crashes/sinks. Many people die but some are missing. Now the husband at home hears of the crash and that his wife is missing. After weeks of searching the search for survivors is called off. The husband remains hopeful either out of real hope or grief. But after a few years he decides it's time to move on. They hold a funeral for his wife and she is officially declared dead. After a few years he meets a nice woman and they get married and sealed in the temple. Now let's say a few years later a boat in the pacific somehow finds and rescues the wife alive. She comes home to find her husband married again and possibly with children from the second wife. So my question is, what happens to the marriage/sealing of the first wife? I would also extend this question to the legal side. What happens to their state marriage? Now I know this is one of those "out there" scenarios but let's not let that stop our discussion. So here's my ideas. The couple's marriage would no longer be legally married because the wife was officially declared dead. But their sealing would remain intact, since both were faithful to their temple covenants. So the man would be legally allowed to marry another woman. And since his first wife was declared and presumed to be dead then he could get sealed again. But when it turns out she is really alive suddenly he is sealed to two living women at the same time. Would he then be excommunicated for polygamy? But because of the situation it was not their intention to break the commandments would he have to have the sealing to one of the wives removed? Then the question comes which one? Does he get the sealing removed to his first wife, if so how is that fair to her? Does he get the sealing reomved to the second wife, if so how is that fair to her? And what about the children from each of the two marriages? Don't worry about how far out this senario is. I want to hear some serious answers.
  18. Thanks! We have to call the temple anyway beause my wife left her necklace there.
  19. Yeah. I don'tknow what the "holy anointing" is. But it could also be applcable in a deceased circumstance. A man being married to more than one woman is applicable in life and also in deceased circumstances. But what the chpater seems to suggest is that the "holy anointing" situation would be much more rare than a man with more than one wife. That's because thb chapter gives so much information about men having more than onw wife and monogamy, but it gives less than a sentance to women having more than one husband.
  20. It doesn't say that exactly. Its just a my attempt at conveying the meaning of the text. I suppose a more accurate paraphrase would be that, "under special conditions..." Doctrine and Covenants 132:41 41 And as ye have asked concerning adultery, verily, verily, I say unto you, if a man receiveth a wife in the new and everlasting covenant, and if she be with another man, and I have not appointed unto her by the holy anointing, she hath committed adultery and shall be destroyed.
  21. My favorite response is from George Lopez. "My day is like this, I have to go to work and then come home to a list of chores." "My wife's day: She makes the list of chores!" Not an exact quote, but I think it's so funny. But seriously, I agree a fathers work outside the home does not exclude him from domestic work. When I get home from work all I want to do is lay down and take a nap. But all my wife wants to do is have me hold the baby. That's when it is time to take responsibility for you actions and do you job. You have to put yourself aside and think of others, your wife and child(ren).
