It seems odd to not teach about the state you live in. We did in the fourth grade then did the US in the fifth. Seems like an excellent plan. I cannot imagine covering a complete state in a day. I suppose that might be enough to teach the name and show what the state flag looks like and what is most known for. Pretty superficial. Idaho is a great state, other than politics, and I am justifiable proud of it. Maybe part of my loving the state has to do with that early class on it. Not brainwashing but brain enhancing with knowledge.

I would be real curious how that percentage was determined. Did they have accurate polls back then? Did they even have polls? If it was by vote did everyone eligible vote? In other words I have to doubt this sources reliability.

Such a nice of opinion of the rights and intelligence of the American people.

I believe that the right of the people would be by majority rule. We have no such majority wishing to institute a new government.

Its not permanent. Now if you want permanent check out her back.

A baby is not punishment. Being forced to bear a rapist child is punishment if they can not come to terms with it. Not doing the abortion is wonderful argument. Sorry. I would have a hard time having an abortion even at the cost of my life. I am not everyone. I am not a raped person who actually is pregnant with a rapists child. God has left us that option so who am I to say it is wrong?

This is a story that troubles me greatly. We have our opinions and then someone comes along and makes us take another look. I am very much against bullying of any kind. I am very much against the idea of embarrassing kids or anyone for that matter. So this should be a no brainer right? Fire her. Except Summer is my niece. She is a very nice shy person. She has taught for sometime and has, from what I hear, been a good teacher. There are circumstances that probably contributed to her not realizing this was a bad thing. She was suspended for a week before this ever hit the news. Trying to be honest with myself here. I would be mad if it were my kids. My kids would probably have to grab my shirttail to hold me back. But is it worth firing her over? She is not stupid. I bet she will never do/allow anything like this again. I bet she has gone to the Lord in prayer asking forgiveness. So it seems like this is a learning experience for me. To care for everyone. To not just jump on the vigilante bandwagon. To realize good people make glaring mistakes. I certainly have made a few in my time. And to realize repentance is real in real life in real situations.

If its not rape then yes its a choice made when sex was chosen. And no I still do not agree with your qualifications for rape. Rape is against a persons will. If its not against their will/choice its not rape unless the victim cannot legally consent.

Dont forget the comments to the story. The first version of the story had vicious comments. No wonder the kids have bullies in the playground.

Share a happy love story, maybe? :)

I met my husband at work. He walked into the cafeteria with a bunch of other men and he is all I saw. Afterwards I apparently just sat there watching him during lunch. One day a friend jumped up on the table and sighted my line of sight to see who I was looking at. We both, apparently, instead of eating just stared at each other. I must have been unconscious because I never realized it. Anyway my car kept having battery problems. He would stop and ask if I needed help but I didnt because I always called my dad who worked there to come jump the car. He was very disappointed he told me later. We did finally get to talking and its now 41 years later. It's not an amazing, romantic story but despite everyone saying there is no such thing as being meant for each other we were and we knew it from the beginning. -
Well there are always liars in the world. Should victims be punished because of the liars? As far as the 17/18 year olds go, the laws need changed.

Please dont qualify the rape. All rape is against the will of the person being raped. Another discussion I know but please.

So what about rape?

The (civil) (Obama-free) socialism thread

In an ideal socialist state there would be no need for enforcement. -
Are we discussing judicial decisions or public votes? Either way the majority is who won. Judicial decisions are not in favor of the fewer judges in favor. It is strictly the majority.
-
Minority votes do not impose anything. They lose. Just a bit of clarification.

Election demographics. Can we learn anything?

I absolutely do not think a debate between the maturity handicapped and an adult is something to be amused by. -

You will note that I have said, several times. that we have the potential, in my opinion, to be number one. The problem lies with the availability of that high class health care. Oh and please. Lets not get started on the refusing to live healthy. That is a whole 'nother thread not to mention being insulting to those in poor health. -

I am afraid link doesnt really pass the free from bias 'test'. Legatum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I am not saying they are not right. Its just that their history just is too much of a red flag. -

World Health Organization ranking of health systems - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I tried to find a relatively unbiased link for healthcare ranking studies but this is the best I could find. Not surprisingly most sites are very biased. From what I see on this link it is as I suspected. We have good health care ability. The problem is too many people are unable to get it. I am not going to nitpik on democracy forms. Yes I know what kind we have. -

I would love to see that, Just_A_Guy. I hope its true. Nothing I have ever read indicates that we are even close to 2 except that we have the capability of being number 1. It is the lack of availability to all groups that makes us so low in ranking. The UN, I believe is the original source. I will have to check. Admittedly I have collected misc. info over time so not sure it includes all that I have stated. -

I do not disagree. Still we can do some things deemed socialistic. Our country will never be perfect but we can still keep trying to improve. :) -

Congrats for being a huge part of messing up our economy. You do realize this is a democracy? We vote in a president by majority vote. Sometimes our candidate wins and sometimes they lose. What we dont do is whine like two year olds when we lose. We get ourselves up and work to make this country great not try to carve out a new country and whine. This kind of childishness is what is trying to destroy this great land of ours. Grow up. Oh and I gratefully take the sacrament, which by the way is offered by Christ not the conservatives. Thanks for your concern. -

Well we are 37th in health care in the world and they arent. Sounds like theirs are doing better than ours are. -

annewandering replied to Just_A_Guy's topic in General Discussion
I admit I had forgotten that but I do remember that there were a number of times that people did actually live with all held in common, without all the wicked dying before hand but, no, they did not last very long. As I said in my last post, I do not believe that an imperfect people can result in an ideal society. I am impressed that some here seem to be saying that if we were not wicked it would be possible but BECAUSE of our wickedness it isnt. Are you implying that if we were not wicked it would work?
