  1. An ideal socialist nation-state in a secular society? In general I would say no. We are not nearly close enough to perfection to do ideal. However, I see no reason we cant implement the parts of it that would fit, and be useful, into our imperfect world. We can make sure everyone has health care. We can make sure that people willing and able to work can make a decent wage and have safe working conditions. We can make sure that a good education is available to everyone. We can encourage people to care about each other. With that we can encourage fair enterprise. Education and a healthy economy both contribute to that. We can enforce laws that prevent speculation and manipulation being used to profiteer in our economy. None of this needs to be done all at once but they can be, and should be, goals for the improvement of our people and this country.
  2. In the case of the Nephites they chose to live that way. God didnt kill anyone off and they were not afraid he would. Just to clarify this rather misleading statement.
  3. Its an excellent idea to get a few housesitters.
  4. It changes the focus of sexuality to a 'me' 'get' thing not a way to show and give your spouse love. It becomes all about me. The fact that we, if we use porn, are asking others to commit serious sins for our enjoyment is not something we should forget either. Some are not even in it willingly. I do not want that on my conscience. It is all about me in every way. We dont even seem to mind slavery and debauchery if it gives us a thrill. What could be more against God's will? And that doesnt even go into the if you lust in your mind it is adultery.
  5. These things just make me cringe. There are truly sick people out there who love to find those 'silly' to us photos of kids. Better to not have them fulfill their sick fantasies with our kids.
  6. No doubt. But the overreaction is not useful and does not make it an addiction. I think you are probably right about it being an LDS, or at least a religious person, thing. I have actually seen worse from nonLDS people. I detest porn. It is a serious problem which our GA's have counseled us about. I would not say we have over reacted to it being a problem. Perhaps it is more that we are not understanding what it entails. Maybe we need some education on what is and isnt addiction. More knowledge on how to deal with it in a calm rational way would be good.
  7. To even call three views over at least decade an addiction is ridiculous. I am beginning to think its a way to excuse the behavior and/or to avoid real issues in the marriage. Not saying porn is not an issue but is it the real issue when overreacting? I went to that link and honestly it is annoying. Blame the spouse seems to be one of its prime factors according to that advertisement for cds.
  8. I am confused how cleavage can be confused with posteriors. Waes she doing a Rosemary twist of the head? If it were me I would be more embarrassed at having posted a bathtub photo. What in the world was she thinking?
  9. I think that limb is actually the trunk.
  10. I read a rather interesting post this morning on facebook about how distressed this person was that their dad had been caught viewing porn for the third time in his marriage. The person was all ready to self mutilate over it and his mom was considering divorce for her husband addiction. What was amazing to me is that the comments, and there were plenty, advocated that the man go to the 12 step program for addiction. At least one person suggested he go on meds. That they were amazingly helpful. Ok so porn is a bad thing and needs repentance but are we getting a bit carried away in our reactions? If a person steals something do we call him a kleptomaniac? If a person commits adultery are they a sex addict? If they drink a beer are they an alcoholic? It seems we might need a bit of perspective. Sin is sin and needs repentance but sin is not, necessarily, an addiction. In fact if its an true addiction is it a voluntary sin? Are we overreacting?
  11. Police: Arizona woman runs down husband with car for not voting - U.S. News This has to take the cake. To top it off her state voted for Romney so his vote would not have changed anything at all.
  12. Oh? Well I am inclined to believe you.
  13. I prefer to believe the truth. Shall we try to determine that or just swap barbs?
  14. No. Do you have info on that?
  15. I would sure like to know who. It is known that poor tend to vote democrat so why would democrats try to suppress their vote? Unless you are saying that the middle class were not able to get to the polls and had to stand in line for hours past how long my bladder would have survived. I am trying to figure out how republican voters were stopped. hmmm Hurricane Sandy? I did hear that one.
  16. The True Believers are nutcase Tea Partiers. I guess no one saw the extremely long voting lines in poor and non white areas? No one thought it was odd to have Romneys son buy the voting machine company in Ohio, the major swing state? No one paid any attention to the open attempts to suppress voting by the poor? Even the words of the Ohio governor saying that with the voter suppression they ought to be able to give Ohio to Romney? Did you see the news on the company under investigation for destroying democrat voter registration forms? I guess the True Believers dont watch any moderate news so they wouldnt have seen any of that. Obama supporters worked hard to get out the vote. Romney supporters worked hard to suppress the vote. Who would be the most likely to commit voter fraud?
  17. What in the world makes you think she does not practice what she preaches? Or do you just assume socialists are liars? Talisyn lives as if the United Order was in effect now. She, and her siblings, take care of each other. I could not be prouder. Problem is that Talisyn/sibings can not take care of all that need help. Our country could take care of the poor and help them get out of that hole but we prefer to place labels on people, then justify our lack of caring and doing.
  18. Some nutcase citizens at that. At least one of the states voted for Obama so hard to see that state going for this. Honestly I dont see any of them actually doing anything more than whine over losing an election.
  19. You wrote that more people voted for change. That is exactly what I addressed.
  20. Just_a_Guy, yes those are problems. Not getting any argument that things are not the best they could be now. Working together could help that be more fair. Thats why I support the idea of letting our elected officials know we want them to find compromises and improve solutions.
  21. While I am in favor of the HCA there are other options that are better. Sure lets get them to talking about all the problems we face and reach agreements to carry us forward. :)
  22. That has been an ongoing problem and needs to be solved. Perhaps you can contract your representatives and demand they help get it solved.
  23. Actually the investigation is on going so no telling how long its been going on. Congress has stunk on its ability to keep secrets. They ought to be charged with treason for some of the things they have leaked. You do know that the CIA has a procedure when you are applying or getting a job in it that you have to pass a polygraph test and one of the questions is if you have had an affair. If you fail you do not get the job. If you are involved in one during your stay you are fired. Presidents are politicians and guess what? They are on a need to know basis. CIA heads have access to everything. They can decide if the president has access. In fact they have scary power. Because of that they have to be unimpeachable in all they do.
  24. Hey it is working for me. I got my health coverage back. That was very important to me in that in some ways I would like to stay alive a bit longer. Its working for me because my kids all have jobs now except one and he did have a seasonal job and his VA medicals are not going to cop out on him. I have 8 kids so thats not bad. :) I expect the economy to continue improving. I expect to not have any more kids sent off to wars anytime soon and so none of them are going to risk give their lives there, hopefully. Yep. All in all things are doing ok.
  25. Sorry to be nitpicky but no more do not want things changed. Yes a lot do. Not more.
