  1. In all fairness is there one like this for men? Ben Raines
  2. The Iron Rod is the Word of God. As they sing in Primary. Ben Raines
  3. There is no way to slim quick. It takes work and discipline. Those who lose quick gain back quick too. Ben Raines
  4. In most cases that I know of the Bishop stays in regular contact with the person who has been disfellowshiped and meets with them at least monthly. This is to check their progress in the repentance process. The Stake President is not involved, generally, until it is time to reconvene the Council for reinstatement. If you husband is concerned or even you then you should contact the Bishop. As for why your home teacher hasn't visited for over a year that is a problem that he will have to answer for some day. You could call him and ask for a visit. I have in the past. Called home teacher and asked when they were coming. Ben Raines
  5. Store the propane in rubbermaid containers and keep them outside. The 5 gallon ones store outside well too. I would never store them in the house. The only time you would have to worry about them is if the house is on fire. If the house is on fire should be out of it and gone anyway. Risk for the firemen. So is ammo in the house. Ben Raines
  6. Prodigal, that sounds like an article of faith. Ben Raines
  7. After sacrament meeting, the adults who are not teaching classes to go either Gospel Principles or Gospel Doctrine. Usually those who have been members for less than a year or have not been to church since they were much younger attend Gospel Principles. The rest attend Gospel Doctrine. After second hour of meetings the men go to Priesthood and the women to Relief Society. In these classes we learn how to be better men and women, husbands and wifes, fathers and mothers. Children under 12 attend Primary during those two hours. Children 12 and older attend Sunday School and then Young Womens class or Priesthood for the young men. Ben Raines
  8. The baptism can be just as private or just as public as you wish. Invite those you wish to attend or keep it as small as you wish. Usually one of the missionaries who has taught you will baptize you or someone in the ward that you would like to do it who holds the priesthood and is worthy to do so. You and the person performing the baptism will enter the baptismal font, water should be about waist deep and warm. Person performing the baptism will take their left arm, holding their elbow along their side and extending their left hand out perpendicular to the ground. With their left hand they will take you by the right wrist. Raising their right hand, like when in school and raised to say "Present" they will say your name and the baptismal prayer and then place their right hand in the middle of your back and help lower you in to the water until you are totally covered and then help lift you back up. Ben Raines
  9. I remember when she went missing, my Bishop at the time is an uncle of her's. The whole family, not just immediate, was involved in looking for her, praying for her and worrying about her. One story with a happy ending. Ben Raines
  10. I have propane for use. Two five gallon tanks that I keep full and over 40 of the small quart size cans to use. The key to emergency preparedness planning is to minimize the use. To use wood or other combustible materials it would require a lot and there would be significant waste. Think how much wood you have to burn to get a fire to boil and then you waste the coals, which are the best part. quick on and quick off with propane. Ben Raines
  11. Never heard that before. I remember a scripture from back in Seminary days. The Lord does not look on the outward appearance but looks upon the heart. If I recall it was in Samuel and referred to the young age of the called prophet. Ben Raines
  12. Very good article PC, it would be nice if we could all get along as this one pastor has attempted and as you appear to. Ben Raines
  13. I just did a little search of lds.org and found article after article that suggest that we read and study the scriptures. Most make reference to the Bible, both Old and New Testament, the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. There are many more articles that refer to Scriptures than refer to Book of Mormon. Here is one that I tracked and there are many more. LDS.org - Ensign Article - Feasting upon the Scriptures I know many people who study not only their scriptures but other books that help them to grasp what it was like during the times they were written and to better understand what things were referenced to. An example: The call to the wedding and the wise and foolish virgins. Study the Scriptures means all of the canonized scriptures we follow. Ben Raines
  14. Calrose rice does not plump up much at all. That is the only rice we use. One cup water to one cup rice and it does not plump at all like long grain rice. Ben Raines
  15. It was a girl making fun of her. I think that what she did, hold her shirt, is an excellent way of being modest and would guess, only can guess, that the other girl was trying to cover up her own immodesty. She must not feel a need to hold her blouse as you did. Guys do not need to be tempted to looking down your blouse. Ben Raines
  16. We used to have bulletins posting in our ward building in Las Vegas and all were invited. Classes were at the Institute building next to community college. Evening classes all were invited. Great classes and all welcome. Ben Raines
  17. Significance of which do you not understand? Ben Raines
  18. Especially the "let's hide the decline" If anything needs to be hidden it makes me wonder. Now if it is "let's hide the stain on the rug" that is a different story. Let's hide data or information that does not look to favorably on our position is wrong, for whichever side you are on. If this were the tobacco industry, food industry, car industry, etc. There would be a Senate investigation. Ben Raines
  19. What was that I remember about "Teach them correct principles and let them govern themselves" or something about having "agency". I try not to worry about the mote in other's eyes and worry about the "beam" in mine. Ben Raines
  20. JD, oh I guess I have more than one beef other than scheduling. I agree that a 14 yr old Eagle Scout has little understanding of the responsibility or honor that comes with being an Eagle Scout. Becoming an Eagle Scout is not the end of the journey but just the beginning. Once you achieve the rank of Eagle, Scouting has given you much, now is the time for you to give back. Also parents telling sons that they can not have a drivers license until they become an Eagle is a wrong incentive, in my opinion. I want boys that will at least come to the campouts. If they come to the campouts they will learn Scouting principles and have religious experiences. That is how we run the program. Ben Raines
  21. Quote from article "TGIF Edition asked Jones about the controversial "hide the decline" comment from an e-mail he wrote in 1999. He told the magazine that there was no intention to mislead, but he had "no idea" what he meant by those words.". Let's see what else could have been meant by "hide the decline" Hmm hide the decline in warming? Hide the decline in carbon? Hide the decline? Why would you have to hide anything. Not like you bought a new fishing rod and have to "hide" it from the wife. Ben Raines
  22. Did you read the article folks. The guy who wrote the emails that were found, his resonse was, I don't know what I meant when I wrote the email. Sheesh it was ten years ago. Laughable. Ben Raines
  23. Maybe it is the spirit of your coworker visiting your house. She checking you out and see how you live with your wife? Hmmm. Smells fishy here. Spooky maybe. Where are Scooby-Do and Shaggy? They can always solve the ghostly capers. Ben Raines
  24. LM, you have found me out. I will use my bike to get around in the snow instead of my 4WD Quad Cab Dodge Ram with a Hemi engine. :) Ben Raines
  25. PC, was she sitting in her rocker back in 1987 and saying those things? I bet that is when it was. :) Ben Raines
