Please understand that alot of us don't put much stock in stories of Setheus's death or Black Rainbow, or whatever name he is going by at the time. This is the third or fourth time he has died in the last year or so according to him and the first time you feel bad, the next time you doubt and by now, we don't even bother to consider that it is true. It is sad that someone can be so sick as to fake his own death over and over until no one believes it even if it has happened and he gets a big kick out of it, as he does his other so called jokes....

I remember years ago, when we had jr Sunday School, the children being given Sacrament in there. All of the children regardless of age. If we don't teach a child from the time they are small what they should do, they will not want to when they are older. They need the opportunity to partake, not because they need it, but to teach them, not only that they should take it, but what it is for. We teach the children about the sacrament in primary, even the very young ones. Why would Heavenly Father have us teach the children about something he did not want them to do. We teach the children about being very reverent during sacrament and taking this time to remember Jesus and what he did for them. Maybe you could have a family home evening dedicated to teaching her about the sacrament and that you think she is now old enough to partake of it and remember what it is for and make it a special thing for her. Let her feel like this is something very special and important to her. <Just a thought>

Judas And Christ Were Closer Than Before Thought?
Josie replied to BenRaines's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Goodness... Did not know that that was going to be taken as a commitment to believing anything. Was just commenting on the food for thought and just how much we truly do not know. We will know what we need to know when we need to know it and then there will be no wondering or guessing. Just making comments about the thoughts expressed. There are many documents that have been discovered and translated and are continuing to be translated. Until they are canized though, they are for study only... You know what I thought about the part of Judas describing himself as favored above the others, LOL. Think about a set of parents that have several children and all the kids think they are loved best. Isn't that what all of should be striving for???? -
Judas And Christ Were Closer Than Before Thought?
Josie replied to BenRaines's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
WOW BEN!!! Very interesting. There are so many documents now coming to light and being translated and the amount of material they contain is enormous. There is so much to learn. And yes, there is so much that we don't know, and yet have to learn. We were promised that the truths would be revealed to us as we were ready. Not saying to take these maunscripts as gospel, but indicating that they may provide more knowledge too us and open doors in our mind toward learning and considering new trains of thought. In our mortal state, it is so hard for us to comprehend Jesus Christ and all he has done for us and continues to do. Surely there is no wonder Judas tried to commit suicide, blaming himself for what he must have felt like he had done to his Lord and Savior? His torment had to be beyond description. Even knowing all that this shows that he might have known. No man can judge another. I can understand more and more, Elder Bateman's talk in Oct 05' conference about the atonement and what Christ went through and experienced while on Gethsemany. Thanks Ben, great eye opener to what might have been... -
Conference Coming To You Via The Internet

Pale, Glad to hear you only had minor damage and all of you are alright. -
We will all miss President Hinckley when the Lord chooses to call him home and his mission ends in this life. But, we also know that he misses his wife very much and has surely been a great great prophet to all of us. I will miss him terribily when that time comes, but I also do not think we should worry about it. When President Hinckley is called home, the Lord will call another to fill his shoes that will do just as good a job and maybe a better job at whatever the Lord calls him to do. President Hinckley has done much in his short 10 years. Brought forth a great deal of new programs and temples, and much more. The next Prophet maybe called to build more temples, or do something entirely different. He may lead the Church in way that we have never dreamed of. We have no idea what the Lord has in mind for us, but we do know that the Lord will take care of his people and provide the leadership we need. What a wonderful blessing President Hinckley has and continues to be for all of us. It would be wonderful to celebrate his 100th Birthday with him. I have so much respect for him. He has touched my life so very much. I know the Lord will do the right thing for all of us, including President Hinckley.

Implications Of: The Priesthood Of All Believers
Josie replied to prisonchaplain's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
PC, We as LDS believe that the Priesthood directs all things in the Church and the Church runs under its authority. Which authority is held by the male members of our church, in varying levels of authority according to their ordained level of authority and calling within the Church. And although the Priesthood directs the Church and its membership, the women are a very important part of that. We have the oldest women's organization in the world which is the Relief Society that is for all sisters 18 and over. This organization offers much for the sisters and not only teaches them the spiritual things of the gospel, but teaches along cultural, social, homaking, motherhood, intellectual, and many other lines. This program becomes more refined all of the time. At this point they are offering to teach the sisters almost anything they desire to learn from cooking to their own book club, home repair, gardening, whatever they ask for. If sisters want to learn more work skills or computer skills, they are also willing to help with that. We also have a very large youth program and a program for our children. There is place for all members to work within the church if they are willing. It is not one person, but congregations full of people working together under the direction of the Priesthood leadership to carry out the Lord's work. The Priesthood is a loved and important part of our Church, but it takes nothing away from the women, it actually recognizes them as great leaders and encourages their success. We probably have more members working in our Church than any other Church on the face of the earth. Our young people are given leadership positions from the time they turn 12 years of age in the Priesthood, Scouting, and Young Womens programs. There is a great call in the Church at this time not only for young men to go on missions, but young women that are not married and atleast 21 years of age, and older retired couples. We are encouraged not only to serve in Church positions, but to volunteer in our communities and carry on great humantarians efforts throughout the world. -
Appreciate you sharing your message today, PC., You know, our 13th Article of faith says "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, in doing good to all men, ... If there is anything virtous, lovely or of good report, or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." In the Book of Mormon, Moroni speaks of charity and says: 45 And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 46 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail— 47 But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him. 48 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen. --Moroni 10:45-48 Moroni goes on in chapter 8 to refer to charity as an "eternal love". To me charity is a doing word. Yes we give to funds to help the needy or diaster struck, but that is only a small part of the charity I am referring too. I am referring to that part of charity that involves actually physically doing something for some out of the pure love of Christ. Whether it be mowing a neighbors yard, who cannot, or listening to someone pour out their heart when they need it most... Or just visiting an ill neighbor and calling a friend to see how they are. There are so many things we can do to show a kindness to another. I know I am guilty of not doing it near enough, but I also know it is a commandment of God and what will our excuse be when we come face to face with him????

Good for you LisaJo, I am the same way. Don't drive in snow unless it is a necessity, and I don't mean I am dying for a pepsi, I mean life and death. And Ben I agree with you completely. I use a seat belt and make every effort to obey the law, even if that law seems silly, including obeying the speed limit. How can I be worthy of my temple recommend and not obey the laws???

Welcome Jeff, Come to chat in the evening and get to know a few of us. Glad to have you and hope you enjoy the site.

Thank you everyone, I appreciate what you had to say. Enjoyed your story mzb. I have heard it before and it touches me everytime I hear it. Here is another one that probably most of us have heard, but it is worth the reminder, I think... Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation. Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene. One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words. Days and weeks passed. One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you." Epilogue: There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations. Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy. "Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present."

LisaJo, to hear of your hurt and I know it does hurt. <--- Give him one when he comes home and tell him even a kiss and hug would have been okay. Sometimes we have to clean the cobwebs out and realize it is not how much but what. Men seem to forget sometimes that we are not hard to please, we just want to be remembered... Here is a and some and for you LisaJo.

Charles Schultz Philosophy The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read them straight through, and you'll get the point. 1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world. 2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners. 3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America. 4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize. 5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor and actress. 6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners. How did you do? The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners. Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one: 1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school. 2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time. 3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile. 4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special. 5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with. Easier? The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care. "Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia." (Charles Schultz)

How Should Christians Respond To Cartoon Outrage?
Josie replied to prisonchaplain's topic in General Discussion
Snow, I am not talking about the ones that do it innocently. I am talking about the people that the news media have been talking about that are finding or creating more of these cartoons and putting them out as though they are egging the rioters on. It is like they are purposely instigating this kind of behavior, I am saying they are doing because they know the trouble it will cause. Therefore they are deliberately doing it to cause trouble. -
LOL, no wonder we do such an awesome job deceifering everyone's mistakes in the chat. And here I thought it was just habit or us making so many mtsikeas ourselves that we were use to it. Boy was I fooled, it is all that wonderful mind the Lord gave me... That was great Ben. Thanks for keeping us informed.

How Should Christians Respond To Cartoon Outrage?
Josie replied to prisonchaplain's topic in General Discussion
Please understand something, in my statement when I said we need to respect one another treat one another as we would like to be treated, or atleast that was what I was trying to say, I was not excusing what they are doing over there. There is no excuse for murder and riots and destroying others property. None of us have the excuse to do that. On the other hand, those that are deliberately at this point printing to cartoons to make them angry and cause more trouble are no better than they are. If everyone in the world through a duck fit everytime someone published a cartoon against something that offended them, riot, murder, and chaos is all the world would be. No one has a right to harm someone else or their property, except in defense of their country in a war, or in defense of their family or selves when being attacked. But we also do not have the right to deliberately insite these actions. Maybe they had no intentions of that in the beginning, but those that are doing it now, are doing it deliberately. -
How Should Christians Respond To Cartoon Outrage?

PC, I agree with what you have said. WE do need to love one another build on the good of each. I don't think God wants us to redicule and belittle. I know what that feels like. Coming from KY, I have had a small taste of what it is like to be abused or rediculed because or your beliefs and seen just a taste of how truly awful people can be to one another over their beliefs. If we could but listen to each other and build on the good of each other, there could be so much more peace and happiness in this world. -
Winnie, We are held responsible for what we know. Faith is not knowledge, faith is belief in something that we have not seen, but believe to be true. Our responsiblity in the first vision is different that of Joseph Smith. He did not have faith that God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ were real and two seperate beings, he saw them with his own eyes, he knew it to be a fact. He was there and saw them. We have faith by believing upon his words. We both have responsiblity, but it is at the level of faith and knowledge that we have. We are responsible, but not at the same level as Joseph Smith. We are responsible to the degree that the Holy Ghost has revealed the truth to us.

If people can lie on tv and in their books, they can certainly lie when they are speaking and why would anyone want to hear someone that makes their money telling lies??? Frey claimed that he inhansed his book to get his point across. Maybe if we have to "inhanse" what we are saying to get our point across, it is not worth making???

Sunny, Really appreciated what you have to say about finding a job at our age. It is not easy, especially to find something you are qualified for. I have been in the work force again after taking care of a family for about 23 years. I was not trained well in anything that is needed now and was older than most want to hire. Through faith and lots of hard work, it slowly happens though and even then it is not easy. But the Lord blesses us and sees us through the trials... Thanks for sharing...

That is why we are called upon to teach by the spirit, if we are not prepared so that the spirit can be with us and be a part of our teaching, little if any teaching takes place. We are but the instrument in the hands of the Holy Ghost to teach, it is the Holy Ghost that does the teaching, if any is to take place. For that to happen, we must be spiritually prepared ourselves and lay foundations for teaching to take place, whether it is in days, weeks, months, or even years.
