Are you trying to be controversial? Is that why no one is answering you? As I understand, from a purely JW background the signs of the times are the signs of the end times which precede the second coming of christ. In a lot of my previous posts I have mentioned that I wanted to become a member of the LDS church and that my husband was very opposed. Well I thought I would give everyone an update and I wish I was giving a happy update but I am not. My husband said point blank that if I became Mormon he would divorce me. I don't understand how he can feel that anti Mormon but he does and I am in a hard place. I really don't know how I feel about that and I don't know what I am supposed to do here. I have internet access and I can still do scripture reading and there is nothing that stands in my way of following many commandments but I just cannot get baptized or go to the lds church. Thank you to all for all the great advice.

I just finished writing a huge paper on Mormon polygamy from a feminist persepective and I needed to write a section about church history. I had a really hard time with it and it was hard to divide the pro from the anti which was difficult. One book which is an older one that I used and thought was good and uncritical were these ones: (they are in citation form as I copied and pasted them from my bibliography) Bushman, Richard. Skippy do you feel that we, as a nation, have a liberal (liberal as in the capitalism free market sence of the word) health care system now or would you like to see it more liberal? I would argue that what we have now isn't liberal at all. Insurance companies and what they pay doctors raises the prices for everyone. Seems like price fixing/monopoly to me. There should be a completely free market medical system or a completely socialized one. I do not like this thing in between though which is what we have now.

I am sure you guys are so tired of the polygamy questions but I am doing a paper on Nauvoo Polygamy and I am looking at purchasing this book Nauvoo Polygamy by George D. Smith. I wanted to make sure it was not anti-mormon and respectful of LDS history. Thanks for any insight you may have,

From my perspective if I am investigating a religion that a lot of people make fun of I am usually pretty hesitant to put any information. I guess one could put false info though. For a long time (1 year) I was afraid to request a BOM for fear of missionarys stalking me. I am so ridiculous sometimes.

Mandarin, we are having similar issues. Except for me it is my in-laws and my hubby. Good luck. I am thinking I am going to base the discussion about faith and when the fingers get pointed about the so called falicies in the LDS church say that it is faith and you can't really argue with faith. Many people who examine the LDS church harshly would never look at their own church with the same harshness.

So I have been reading my bible and a little bit of BOM everyday for quite a while. Anyway, I dreamt a wierd dream last night in which a male voice was telling me to "make sure I look at all of the seven things, Look at all of the seven things." My husband said maybe it was the seven deadly sins? There were no images or anything. Just darkness and confusion. Also does the holy spirit come to you in dreams? I am so lost. Any ideas would be awesome!

Big Love really got me interested in LDS. Without it I wonder if I would have wanted to write a paper on polygamy and later start reading the book of mormon.
