  1. You only tend to see things that's fits into your little world, don't you? You must have been watchimg MSNBC.
  2. Gee, I wonder why they have ratings today and didn't then. I was around then. Can't push that argument on someone my age. Sorry.
  3. You fired the first shot Jamie. Don't try to act like an innocent bystander.
  4. Do you know the difference between the Bird Flu and the Swine Flu? For the Bird Flu you need tweetment, For the Swine Flu you need oinkment.
  5. I'm sure there are many good people from Iran, but I can't erase the memory of millions of them dancing in the streets on 9/11.
  6. No. I had my Wheaties and I'm ready to fight.:)
  7. The parts they play may be endearing, but their real lives are disgusting. If your neighbors acted like this you wouldn't want them near your children (or spouse). John Carradine just died. Now stories of incest are coming from the family. Ron Howard (Opie Taylor) is now a director. All of his filmes are rated R. Melissa Gilbert (Laura Ingels) just wrote an autobiography. She admits to being an alcoholic and a whore. And it goes on and on and on. Yet, people just love to read about these people. What a miserable life that must be. Have to disagree with you funkytown, The things that are being pushed today are far more dangerous that in the past. Songs about beach parties in the 60's are a bit different than Rap music about shooting police officers and gang raping women.
  8. Have you turned on a TV or gone to the movies lately. Do you listen to the music young people are listening too. People that make a living by using sex as a comedy routine or think swearing is the best material for their career are trash to me. Look at the lifestyle's of these "celebrities". Have you found any that you would want to be a role model for your children. I haven't. I am not in the least bit inquisitive about them or their thoughts, especially about the Church. For the past twenty- five years in the classroom I have seen the effect these "celebrities" have on our young people. I lay many of the ills of our society at their doorstep.
  9. If you love flyovers Pam, you should have been in NYC a few weeks ago (Only kidding). When I was stationed at Lakehurst Naval Air Station (1966-67) the Blue Angels put on an air show. Later they sat down at our table (Marine MP's) in the mess hall and ate and talked with us.
  10. It should have been called "Hairball". Something the cat spit up. Anything that Playboy Mag thought was a great play, I have doubts about.
  11. I didn't join the church to impress celebrities. I couldn't care less what anyone thinks of Mormons and that goes especially for celebtiries. (aka Hollywood Trash).
  12. I respectfully disagree with your Stake President. There are instances where the Church DOES support divorce. I don't know your circumstances, but I do know "Men are that they might have joy" 2 Nephi 2:25. If you have prayed, God knows what is in your heart. I have never believed there is only one person in the world for us.
  13. I 've never cared for people that act "holier than thou". Neither am I impressed by people that can quote volumes of scriptures. That just means they have a good memory. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ shouldn't be a burden (Molly Mormon, Peter Priesthhod). It should be the lifestyle that makes you happy. You you feel any other way, in my opinion, you missed something during your conversion.
  14. I like the onion. Sliced and on a hamburger is my favorite. Diced for a hot dog is OK too:):)
  15. Whenever the people are allowed to vote on the gay marriage issue it loses. The state legislatures pass these laws without going through the public voting process. The way these representatives vote is part of the public record. If your rep votes contrary to your wishes you should vote them out. People keep re-electing the same people. Our General Authorities continue to tell us things are not going to get better. American values are going to continue to deteriorate. We can only keep ourselves spotless and attempt to help others do the same. Unfortunately, many don't want to be. Immorality in rampant and many see nothing wrong with these lifestyles. I realize I'm an old codger, but in my youth people living together outside of marriage was uncommon and kept quiet by those that did. Pregnant high school girls did not attend classes with the other students. The girls at the high school I just retired from bring in ultrasounds to show to teachers and fellow students. Being pregnant and unmarried in high school has become a status symbol.
  16. I'm with you. I didn't even know that comic was still being written.
  17. In all walks of life there are those that do their job well and those that don't. Unfortunately, we usually hear about those that don't. I'm sure there are plenty on good recruiters out there, but there are some horror stories also. Those are the ones we hear about. My daughter was considering joining the Navy after high school. At the last minute she changed her mind and decided to go to nurse's school to become an RN. This recruiter started a rumor that the reason she changed her mind was because she was pregnant. He also told one boy she was a stripper. Neither was true and she is now an RN. I considered reporting him, but didn't. If I'd been ten years younger I would have invited him into the back ally. I figure a fifty year old former Marine boxer can whip a thirty year old swab jockey. Especially when defending their familes honor.
  18. That reminds me of a teacher at the Middle School. He joined the Navy during the Vietnam War so he wouldn't get drafted by the Army. Thought he would be safer on a ship. He scored high on the test, so they trained him as a corpsman. He ended up with the 1st Marine Division south of Danang for 13 months. He said "The first decision I made on my own and look where I ended up".
  19. Five years from now you will still be blaming everything on the previous administration. When are you going to grow up and accept the fact that your man Obama was the least qualified of all the candidates running from either party. He was elected for ONE reason and we are going to pay for it. Or should I say are great grandchildren are going to pay for it. BTW, My state has had a Democratic governor for two years. Am I to blame my losing my job on the Republican before that?
  20. Well, there are other reasons for being in the Bishops office. A yearly interview, etc. I "kinda" thought you did.
  21. Well then, you should have been at our house Friday night. It was just getting dark and I was stacking wood. I picked up two pieces and there was a six foot long Blacksnake grinning at me. Haven't touched the woodpile since. It can stay in a pile until we burn it next winter. I reached the conclusion stacking is a waste of energy. Especially when there's a snake in the pile.
  22. Go to www.military.com]Benefiting the US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard - Military.com where you can talk to people that are or have been in the military. Most branches have a wannabe forum just for that purpose. A recruiter's job is to get warm bodies and some will tell you anything to get you enlisted. Then reality sets in and you find yourself walking across a desert with a 50 pounds of equipment on your back. Nothing wrong with that, but know what you're getting into. The Marine recruiter told me about all the wonderful places I would see. He failed to mention the one I did see...Vietnam. All expenses paid.
