Must be raining now. The news is off its rocker. Unsurvivable seems quite the over reaction.

Everyone in Florida still have internet? Stay safe.

2 dozen Waffle Houses have closed already. Hymn # 152

Dude! Waffle Houses are closing! @LDSGator Good luck bro.

Back to a 5. Everyone keeps using extreme adjectives to describe this storm. We watch Ryan Hall Y’all on Youtube for for our extreme weather updates.

Too close to call. Within the next month there will be a couple big blunders. Whoever avoids the blunders will probably win. I have no faith in either campaign.

10-15’ Storm surge sounds pretty awesome. I hear that Governor DeSantis has suspended all highway tolls. The storm has weakened but gotten bigger. I’ve never been in a Hurricane. I’ve been pretty close to 3-4 tornadoes though. Very exciting!

I was in Houston in ‘88. They were predicting a force 5 Hurricane (might have been Gilbert). A ton of people evacuated the city. It ended up blowing itself out and as it passed over I enjoyed a vigorous sprinkle. The weather predictions sure have improved in the past 30+ years.

I lived in El Paso in 1998-2000. Colonia Juárez Chihuahua Mexico Temple was great. Crossover, catch a session then hit a restaurant.

Dude, you are gonna get wet. Kamala is recommending that you heed your evacuation plan.

Bunch of football games will be cancelled, moved, or postponed.

Must be alot of Newbies. I live in a small town, and hate any traffic. This might be normal Monday traffic for all know. Hopefully this hurricane will downgrade as fast as it intensified. Sounds like y’all are just now recovering from Helene.

This reminds me of one of my favorite brain functions and words. Redolent - Smells that evoke a sensory or emotional memory. I think that some music has a similar function.

I think it’s gonna feel like the end of times in Florida. https://apple.news/Abf4DVCgVQSeZPuzDsDeRXQ FEMA has done such a horrible job with Helen. If it doesn’t get its act together. It could affect the current election.

Yup. I hope that I live the gospel because I love God. It’s certainly not for fear of punishment or hope for a reward. Am I ready for the Second Coming? I don’t know, doubt it. But how can you get ready for Armageddon, a year’s worth of famine, Prophet’s lying dead in the streets of Jerusalem, etc. Doesn’t sound like fun. And I have a slew of children and grandchildren to worry about as well. I don’t know that I’m ready for the next 4 years of politics in America. I’m predicting a disaster. But I made it through a surgical residency and Texas HS football. So I don’t fear much, and I have a fighting spirit. Bring it. I do love a good show. It sure looks like this Middle East war is continuing to pick up speed. who knows where it will lead? I’m still going to send my kids to college and recommend that they make me more grandchildren. If I was sure that the Second Coming was eminent I might try to keep my children close and live the ‘prepper’ life and dig up a bomb shelter etc. Nope.

Bruce McConkie was beloved by many but also seemed to rub many wrongly. He was quite the scholar - when we did not have many scholars in the church, or computer searches… He shared many of his personal conclusions as if they were LDS doctrine - when they were not. https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/inspiration/i-believe-in-christ-started-as-a-testimony?lang=eng The above link gives some context to the hymn. Essentially it’s his testimony. It may not be your or my testimony. I can appreciate the hymn. But it has no comparison to: Come thou fount of every blessing. I can barely get through the song without tearing and choking up. It’s is true. It describes the challenges of life and staying true to the faith and yourself. I feel His mercy. The line with Ebenezer reminds me to reflect upon my personal memories of my testimony. It reminds me of my dependence upon Christ and his Atoning Sacrifice. The prone to wander line is the brilliance and gut punch. We all know it is true. And we beg for the strength and grace to bind our hearts to him although it may be brief due to our nature and fallen state. But it gives us HOPE. The music is beautiful and no doubt inspired. If you could hie to Kolob. is another one. Pure truth and it focuses us on an eternal perspective. It brings us out of the muck and into the heavens. I made a pandora channel based upon the above. You should give it a try. Gethsemane - This is why we worship Christ How Great Thou Art. I sang this while in the MTC choir. It was powerful. Every time I hear it I am reminded of that moment. And I can barely hold a tune. The MTC choir welcomes all.

Rosh Hashanah LDS dinner script (ChatGPT)

Great Holliday. We are stoked for General Conference. The asian pear and honey was amazing. Round Challah was beautiful and tasty too. Most of the tropical fruits were ho hum, it’s hard to get them fresh and ripe. The kids enjoyed the new experience though. One of the best parts was everyone forgiving everyone else during the meal. Forgiveness can be transformative. -
Nope. I wouldn't be surprised if we see something significant. His time is short. And I feel like he has been holding back (pretty sure we are not ready as a group ). Either way, we will be happy to listen.

From 2014 President Monson https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ensign/2014/09/are-we-prepared?lang=eng My favorite quote: “We urge all Latter-day Saints to be prudent in their planning, to be conservative in their living, and to avoid excessive or unnecessary debt. Many more people could ride out the storm-tossed waves in their economic lives if they had a supply of food and clothing and were debt-free. Today we find that many have followed this counsel in reverse: they have a supply of debt and are food-free.“ I predict that it will be brought up during this conference.
