When an epidemic hits, you will probably be much less likely to catch the plague because you maintain cleanliness and desire to isolate yourself from others because of your need to control your environment. As opposed to being an educated doctor and knowing that the plague is caused by transmission of the bacteria Yersinia pestis via the vector of rat fleas, or water droplets from infected individuals 😷. With this knowledge you can educate others and prevent the disease. Also, you can develop antibiotics to cure people that are affected by the disease. You can help yourself and others by your knowledge of the truth. Some may feel like ignorance is bliss. Knowledge is power. Intelligence is using knowledge wisely.

No, look at the people in Gaza and Israel that lost loved ones and property. They have broken hearts and initially many do have contrite spirits. They want the war to end and their family, and property back as well as prosperity. Then they let hate into their soul and that contrite spirit turns into a spirit of war and revenge.

Faith in Jesus Christ is the first principle of the gospel. Faith is an object of power and motivation. When we have faith in Jesus Christ we desire to learn more about him. We want to become more like him. True faith leads to a broken heart and contrite spirit which in turn allows us to repent and witness the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Everyone will be saved from physical death - eventually. But only those who truly desire to become like Jesus Christ by following the covenant path will receive salvation from spiritual death. Faith that does not lead to a broken heart and contrite spirit is not really Faith in Jesus Christ. A broken heart and contrite spirit that does not lead to partaking of the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ can’t help us either. There are many times when people have a broken heart. Look at what is happening in Israel and Gaza right now. There is a well demarcated path. Those who choose to trail-blaze their own path via ignorance, pride, boredom, or (choose your favorite sin / distraction here), will never find true salvation.

Here is my big issue with the hunter gathers crossing the bering strait. The land bridge became a thing because the water levels dropped significantly. Because, there were glaciers miles thick covering the top half-half of the northern hemisphere. During the ice age, I assume that the hunter gathers would follow the birds and animals to the more temperate climates near the equator. Very few animals survive on frozen tundra or glaciers. No animals that hunter gathers would be interested in following. I dont see anyone trekking across the Northern Eurasia and then across the bering straight glacier bridge. And then surviving the trek down Canada into the lower United States. You may notice the lack of ice on Russia and Alaska. We don't have any records of glaciation in Russia because they have not shared the data with us. Interesting how conviently during the ice age no rain or ice ever fell on Alaska or Russia. I think that the idea that man originated in Africa and then eventually entered into the Americas by crossing the bering strait land bridge has been debunked. We originally thought the the oceans were barriers. But there are many thinkers that now see the oceans as highways. We have records of the Jaredites, Nephites, and Mulekites voyaging across the oceans from the old world. We also know that the Vikings made it here before Columbus. The islands of the seas were all populated. Wonder how that happened… Easter Island and the Hawaiian Islands took lots of effort and skill to navigate. My bet is that there were MANY more peoples that navigated to the Americas that we have no records of. We are likely naïve to think that all native Americans descended from Lamanites.

Oh there are all kinds of similar things in the USA DNR (Do not Resuscitate) - Do not attempt any heroic life support options, mouth-to-mouth resussiciation, intubation, CRP, cardiac defibrilation, etc. Essentially, if my body is so severely injured that I will die without medicial heroic intervention let me pass with dignity the way God intended. DNR except during surgery - Sometimes a DNR patient will come into the hospital with a hip fracture that will not kill them but makes them miserable. They elect to have surgery to fix the fracture which requires anesthesia and intubation and essentially life support. During the surgery you are allowed to give them life support but as soon as they leave the operative suite, they revert to DNR. Comfort care - Patients are allowed to have IV medications including narcotics to make them comfortable but not antibiotics, chemotherapy or dialysis to attempt to cure disease. Removal of life support - Sometimes a patient will get intubated and sedated and pumped full of fluids and medications to keep the body alive and at some point it becomes obvious that the patient will not recover or that brain function has ceased. In these isntances a decision has to be made to remove the life support machines and drugs to allow the body a natural death. President Nelson is a MD and he firmly believes in all kinds of medical options to preserve life (heart surgery, COVID vaccines, etc). I am a bone surgeon and firmly believe in DNR. If I get into a car accident and have a closed head injury, spinal cord injury, and multiple long bone fractures don't go saving my life. Let nature take its course.
