  1. Where do you live Dylan. Sounds like the South, Bible belt, Baptist area. I grew up in Texas. I didn’t even try to join FCA. I was too busy with sports and other extracurricular activities. They served iced tea at every activity. I greatly prefer the first Article of Faith to the above quote. I was asked all the time if I was saved. I would commonly ask, what does it meant to be saved? I never heard a reasonable explanation. Usually something like, you know Saved?! Or, do you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior? Yes, Obviously. I then routinely explained that I and everyone else will be resurrected. And that because I was baptized and follow the gospel principles; by the grace of Jesus Christ, I may return to heaven to live with God again. At that point they were generally speechless.
  2. The righteous will kneel and praise Jehovah out of love and thankfulness of His grace. The rest may need to be exposed to His glory. Which will obviously require them to shield themselves and beg for mercy. I prefer the first.
  3. My earthly Mother still loves to receive my phone calls. And I dearly miss my Father who passed 4 years ago. I wish I could call him. Im sure our Heavenly Father and Mother are not any different. Worship is a complex word with many connotations. God does love us. And he most likely appreciates our love, heart felt prayers, and when we try to follow his recommendations and example.
  4. No doubt he will make quite a bit of $$ and fame from this. Gonna be a rich man himself.
  5. “Someone’s got to teach them not to hate.” This line is so disturbing. Hate is such a tool of the Devil. We have to be aware and defend the innocent from these predators without hate. While they hatefully plot to destroy our sacred choices with song and smiles. Sometimes, I wish that the end would come and that the Lord could just arrive with his flamethrower and clean house. This war of lies and deceit. AND Andrew Tate. What a nightmare.
  6. And the only way to get our pre-mortal memories back, is to pass thru the veil. Ether 3:13 And when he had said these words, behold, the Lord showed himself unto him, and said: Because thou knowest these things ye are redeemed from the fall; therefore ye are brought back into my presence; therefore I show myself unto you.
  7. This one was really good though. I loved the Giants, Nom, and the Ranyhyn. 6th grade would have been lots worse without these books. I couldn’t finish the last trilogy…
  8. you lost btw. And my prompt was simply, 500 word essay displaying Christ imagery in Dune.
  9. Matthew 13: 15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart
  10. My biggest concern is that in the recent past we have chosen horrible men to represent our country’s choice for President. Donald Trump is a total clown and Joe Biden is a life long politician with dementia. The way we pick candidates is a travesty. Whoever has the best zingers during a televised debate does not qualify a person to be the leader of this great country.
  11. Steam probably directly runs propeller and a turbine to generate electricity. Likely some big gears and batteries involved.
  12. Yup, I mostly just listen to audiobooks while exercising. Always multi-tasking.
  13. Some of the prequels are great. House Atredies & The Butlerian Jihad are worth the read or at least the listen.
  14. You are a true fan, I remember reading or watching something about drowning a young sandworm creating the water of life. But the series is now 25 books in length. I’ve only read like 7 or 8. The nerds that put together the sci-fi wiki stuff are pretty intense and Im sure one of the newer books goes into detailed description. In the movie the liquid is transparent and blue - actually looks tasty.
  15. No record in the scriptures of circumcision until Abraham. Interestingly some of the Egyptian priests also performed circumcision amongst themselves. Perhaps they were jealous of Joseph’s priesthood and thought that it was a secret ritual that would allow them to acquire God’s favor…
  16. Yup. Bile is made in the Liver and concentrated in the Gall Bladder.
  17. Dangit, you got me. I should have just listed Matthew 27: 34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
  18. From our friendly AI ChatGPT. Frank Herbert’s science fiction masterpiece “Dune” is a literary work rich with intricate layers of symbolism and allegory, one of which is the profound Christ imagery that permeates the narrative. While not overtly religious, the novel carries numerous elements that evoke parallels to the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. These subtle allusions to Christ’s story contribute to the depth of the novel and invite readers to contemplate themes of sacrifice, messianic figures, and the transformative power of belief. One of the most evident instances of Christ imagery in “Dune” is the character Paul Atreides, the novel’s central figure. Paul, born into a noble house, embodies qualities that mirror those attributed to Jesus Christ. He rises from humble beginnings, much like Christ’s nativity in a manger, to fulfill a prophetic destiny that involves leading a group of oppressed people—the Fremen—toward freedom. This parallels Christ’s role as a liberator of the marginalized and downtrodden. Furthermore, Paul’s journey in the desert of Arrakis, where he endures trials, confronts his fears, and acquires heightened awareness, can be seen as mirroring Christ’s forty days in the wilderness, where he faced temptations and emerged spiritually strengthened. In both cases, the desert serves as a place of revelation and transformation, where the protagonist undergoes a profound inner journey. The Bene Gesserit sisterhood, a secretive and influential group in the novel, also bears resemblance to the early Christian Church. Their breeding program, aimed at creating a prophesied super-being known as the Kwisatz Haderach, is reminiscent of the anticipation of the Messiah in early Christian communities. This connection is heightened by the role of the Bene Gesserit in shaping Paul’s path and preparing him for his messianic role. The concept of the “Water of Life,” a substance derived from the body of a giant sandworm, is another intriguing Christ-like symbol. The ingestion of this substance brings heightened awareness and a deep connection to collective memory, resembling the transformative nature of Christ’s teachings that lead to spiritual enlightenment and communion with the divine. The theme of sacrifice is exemplified through the Fremen’s reverence for water, a scarce resource on the desert planet. This emphasis on water parallels Christ’s emphasis on living water, a metaphor for spiritual sustenance. The Fremen’s willingness to sacrifice and fight for their freedom, often to the point of martyrdom, mirrors Christ’s sacrificial death for the salvation of humanity. Moreover, the religion that develops around Paul, particularly his revered title of “Muad’Dib,” draws striking parallels to the development of Christianity. Paul’s words and actions inspire a fervent following that attributes divine qualities to him, much like the apostles and early followers of Christ. The term “Muad’Dib” itself is reminiscent of religious titles like “Messiah” or “Christ.” In conclusion, Frank Herbert’s “Dune” masterfully weaves Christ imagery into its narrative, prompting readers to reflect on themes of sacrifice, transformation, and the power of belief. While the novel is set in a far-future, science fiction context, the subtle echoes of Christ’s story add depth and complexity to the characters and their journey. By blending elements of the Christ narrative with science fiction tropes, Herbert engages readers in thought-provoking exploration of faith, destiny, and the human capacity for change. Just as the original Christ story has endured and inspired for centuries, the Christ imagery in “Dune” continues to captivate readers and spark discussions about the intersections of religion, myth, and storytelling.
  19. Not sure about his personal religious beliefs but the books were highly spiritual. Shai-Hulud
  20. The water of life is harvested from a young sandworm and is likely a distillate from their bile. Young sandworms are pre-pubescent thus unlikely associated with your connotation. And bile is slightly alkaline akin to the vinegar that Christ was given… Your Dune lore could use a brush-up.
  21. The initial book was best IMHO. Great Christ imagery. Taking the water of life was the closest thing i’ve read to compare to the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I loved how all the witches suffered whilst Paul was converting the water. I assume that Satan and his followers had a similar experience.
  22. Paul spends quite some time discussing the circumcision in this weeks CFM Romans 2:25-29 I was pondering the practice and just thought how it’s kinda bizarre. The removal of the sensitive part of the tissue… Health concerns Only men do it. It obviously shouldn’t be displayed in public (like garments). Garments seem to allow daily reflection, whereas the circumcision probably didn’t especially if it was done without trauma (although, I have seen some ugly complications from botched circumcisions).
  23. Nah.
  24. It is extremely difficult to get patients or approval for level one studies on children or pregnant women concerning controversial procedures or medications. I suspect zero. Not willing to do the research though. At least one person on the committee is weary and voice full about the current policy and they don’t want to be seen as late comers to the game when other countries have started changing policy.
