  1. biodegradable ADJECTIVE (of a substance or object) capable of being decomposed by bacteria or other living organisms and thereby avoiding pollution. Just a real definition. Found in a real dictionary. If anyone was interested...
  2. When does she get off of her mission?
  3. It was a 3 hour day trip from Redding. All the children loved it. Wander up to the roof garden after the tour. It will continue to be open till June 1st. It was beautiful. The last time I was there, I was 2 and sealed to my parents. I don’t have many recollections other than I spilled some cheerios on the floor and it got cleaned up fast. The Lord’s servants have done some great work. Can’t wait to go back after the dedication.
  4. When did cotton become an irreplaceable resource? Are you implying that the LDS church is singlehandedly destroying the environment? Are you referring to Garments as "fast fashion"? Cuz, ... really? And I burn my garments when they are all used up. So they are not ending up in the precious landfill.
  5. Well perhaps you are worrying about the wrong things? You may want to read C.S. Lewis's The Screwtape Letters. As a surgeon I live and die by triage. When I am literally taking care of a train wreck in in the OR and an ER doc is persisting to speak to me about an ankle sprain or a non-displaced clavicle fracture I go a little bit crazy. If the Lord asked me to go out and hunt a grizzly bear and turn his skin into my garments I would. I killed a little brown bear trying to get into my home 2 weeks ago... If I wasn't wearing garments. I would be wearing other underclothing anyways. LDS would not be going around commando butt nekid otherwise... When our G's are threadbare we are instructed to remove the sacred parts and to use the remainder as cleaning rags, etc. I can go on and on...
  6. All the problems in the world and this is what you choose to worry about?
  7. No need to bother the police
  8. Sometimes I wish that instant Karma was a thing. I know that God will sort out justice / mercy in the hereafter. But some people deserve justice.
  9. Just as an example. What do you see here that is wrong? I have to fix this today.
  10. There is a current thread about Zion with focus on no poor among them. What if instead of Zion being a place where the rich provide for the poor. It is a place where no attorneys are necessary and business practices were honorable. And craftsmen and manufacturers took pride in their work and didn't cut corners. Can you imagine the prosperity?
  11. Oh yeah. “Nope, not interested” My BS sensor is hyper aware.
  12. If the car is under warranty and I am not getting charged any $$, and they can get me a courtesy replacement then yes. In all other cases nowai. Reminds me of an off color clip from the movie Lethal Weapon where Leo Getz (Joe Pecsi) goes thru a drive thru and orders a steak sandwich and gets tuna fish instead... Just do a google search for ripped off and dealership. As a surgeon I can tell you story after story of people in my community who get questionable / unnecessary surgery. When $$ is involved I do my due diligence ask questions and let them understand that I wont tolerate any tom foolery. Even for tire care I avoid the big tire store with the lines and lots of employees and seek out the mom and pop shops. I have a guy from India who does all my tire care. He is fast, there is never a line, and he isn’t trying to rip me off. One time instead of offering to sell me a new tire he just placed a rubber patch in the tire and I was good to go in like 5 minutes, no charge. I also know that I am supporting a family and not some corporation. I freakin hate Walmart. Man, you got me all started!
  13. Is this what you are looking for? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prosperity_theology
  14. Too many to list. Man I can’t wait till the hereafter when St Peter tells me how many hours (years) I have spent watching TV. One of my favorite Batman clips, which btw adequately describes many of my days. This thread reminds me of a quote from the book Ready Player One (which was much better than the movie). And I totally identified with the main character Wade Watts. You could say I covered all the bases. I studied Monty Python. And not just Holy Grail, either. Every single one of their films, albums, and books, and every episode of the original BBC series. (Including those two “lost” episodes they did for German television.) I wasn’t going to cut any corners. I wasn’t going to miss something obvious. Somewhere along the way, I started to go overboard. I may, in fact, have started to go a little insane. I watched every episode of The Greatest American Hero, Airwolf, The A-Team, Knight Rider, Misfits of Science, and The Muppet Show. What about The Simpsons, you ask? I knew more about Springfield than I knew about my own city. Star Trek? Oh, I did my homework. TOS, TNG, DS9. Even Voyager and Enterprise. I watched them all in chronological order. The movies, too.”
  15. Your and my understanding of the Celestial Kingdom is diametrically opposed. All those professions that you have despairing listed are skills that Heavenly Father has perfected. Let us realize that the privilege to work is a gift, that power to work is a blessing, that love of work is success. – David O McKay Moses 1:39 This is my work and my glory - John 5:17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. Can you explain what you think the Celestial kingdom is in your imagination? Because, as I understand it, the Celestial kingdom is a place where we will continue to learn and work until we achieve perfection. It seems to me that you may be shooting for the terrestrial kingdom. A place where you don’t have to work and everything is provided for you.
  16. I still have that cappuccino machine in my Amazon wish list...
  17. Ever Read Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged?
  18. https://news.gallup.com/poll/166211/worldwide-median-household-income-000.aspx But we are a worldwide church not just the USA. So we should be listing worldwide income. Which is under 10K per household. According to this data, ever American (even those who live off the dole) are filthy rich. If I were to convince one of my associates to declare me disabled (which I could easily do). I would qualify for SSDI of $2491 a month! That would be more than double the worldwide household income. Then I could quit my orthopaedic practice, abandon my patients and spend all my time and effort on social, emotional, and spiritual enlightenment. I see the light!
  19. Can you go into more detail here? Why cannot you achieve this?
  20. Love me some Thomas Paine. Don't be a summer soldier or sunshine patriot... FREEDOM!
  21. What about an American flag on a license plate or a digital one on a computer screen? It is still a Flag? WE can go on and on. Made of glass, wood? Chiseled into granite? I ask you, what makes the American Flag an American Flag? The Flag from the World Trade Center
  22. Don't think I can. But curiously during my Sunday School class with 14-15 year olds. We discussed the importance of the question, "What lack I yet?' And it is powerful, but only if you follow through and make the changes. This young man didn't even struggle with the possibility of following the advice. He just became sad and grieved walking away. The Lord will not ask us to abandon our family and possessions. But He may ask us to do much more simple things like work on humility. Or pray and study the scriptures more fervently. It will only make a difference if we take the advice and promptings of the spirit. When people leave the church it is usually because they stop doing the simple things like prayer, scripture study, tithing, church service, etc...
  23. Yes. White, male, LDS, breeder, conservative I better check my privilege
  24. If you were truly interested in garments you would investigate the church, learn from the missionaries, and find out for yourself. I’m reluctant to continue further discussion with someone who might be a troll The America flag can be made out of various fabrics and sizes. Some may burn or spit on the flag. Others honor old glory and would lay down their lives to defend it. I know where I stand. I don’t know your position.
