My mother heard this story a while ago. The friend had a young daughter (maybe four years old) and a new baby. Apparently one day, the mother overheard the daughter asking the baby, "can you tell me about Jesus? Because I'm beginning to forget." Maybe it's one of those Mormon "urban legends" but it's neat anyway.

My husband is half black, and there's been no family history done on that side of the family; partially because they're not LDS and not interested in genealogy, partially because the records are so fuzzy due to slavery. His grandfather isn't even sure of his own birthdate. My patriarchal blessing says I need to do family history; mine is done as far back as it can go, so that can only mean I have to help with his. What a challenge!

Milk chocolate all the way. Dark is too bitter, and white is just... ehh.

I don't worry about doctors seeing my garments since I'm in Utah... I figure if they're not LDS, they're used to seeing them, or they are LDS, they might be wearing them themselves!

UFOs fascinate me.

I'm already loving this season! It's great to see all those familiar faces back again. I always liked Stephanie, Tom, and James, and Russell is a new favorite and I'm glad to see him again. But, I'm not sure if his tactics are going to work a second time; these players aren't as stupid as his teammates last season. Judging from his reaction at the last reunion show, he probably doesn't do so well in this season, or else he wouldn't have been so upset. On another note, it was pretty hilarious to see Sugar following Colby around camp. I just about died laughing when he retreated from her to the fire but she curled up on the sand!

I have two cats, Max and Nico. I also have two toads but they just sort of sit there.

I couldn't agree more with you, need4peace. Ads and jokes making fun of men really make me angry.

That's what I thought. Wouldn't she have wondered why he didn't want to vow to be faithful? I know I'd have a problem with it.

Women's Groups Urge CBS To Pull Super Bowl Abortion Ad
annamaureen replied to Just_A_Guy's topic in Current Events
I was interested to see this commercial after all the kerfuffle over it. But when I was watching the Superbowl, I almost missed it because it was so... well, un-controversial. It was very simple and innocent, and I honestly wouldn’t have known it was about abortion except that I’d heard all the controversy beforehand. It just seemed like a message about the importance of families. Apparently, some feminists are now saying that the Tebow ad "encourages violence against women." Are you serious!? What a load of crap. They're just trying to find something to complain about. Interesting that they have no problem with those unnecessarily sexual GoDaddy ads. -
I don't know, it kind of made me chuckle. It's not hilariously clever but I didn't immediately think "blasphemy!"

Yes, I'd jump at the chance!

Most of us have heard at some time or another that women are more righteous than men, more women will make it to the Celestial Kingdom, etc. Is this just one of those "cultural" church beliefs, or is there anything to back this up in scripture, doctrine, or from general authorities?

Recently found out husband is having an affair

All I can say is, you're a far more composed woman than me! -
My mother wanted to name me Anastasia... luckily she went for just Anna. I really dodged a bullet there!

Obviously it's not my decision how these things will be, but this seems sad and unfair to me. My great-grandmother lost her first husband in WWII, and remarried after. She loved them both and has been sealed by proxy to both of them. It saddens me to think she'll be forced to choose between them. And what about the poor husband who gets kicked to the curb?

I don't know if the church has a position, but I'm an organ donor. If I'm dead, it's not like I'll need them!

Could someone explain this in more detail? I'm reading about Sarah and for some reason I'm not grasping it. I'm having trouble seeing how it's relevant to the plan of salvation.

Seen it, but never stops being funny!

Sin is sin, and I don't think you can hash out in detail which sin is "worse" than another. However, I do believe that Heavenly Father knows us intimately and takes all circumstances into account.

That's what I thought, too.

Farmville, Zoo world, Aquarium World, oh my!

To be honest, I frequently hide my friends when too many of these Farmville type games start popping up in my news feed! -
revealing past sins to significant other
annamaureen replied to bonanzafan's topic in General Discussion
My husband and I talked about our past mistakes when we got engaged. But it wasn't in the form of an "apology." I would've been hurt and angry if he'd hid something and I'd only found out after we were married. -
Personally, I try to pay more attention to the movie's content rather than rating. There are some seriously raunchy PG-13 films out there.

This reminds me of how my father got all doubtful and skeptical when he found out my boyfriend (now husband) wasn't an RM. I was like, "Uh, Dad, you're not an RM!" We got engaged when he was twenty-three. Technically he could've still served a mission (as a family friend snootily reminded me.) But it seemed pointless for me to insist on it. After years of inactivity he'd returned to full activity in the church. We were engaged and were both worthy to be sealed. I don't see how going on a mission would've made him "better."
