  1. Well spoken. We so often want to comfort others and tell them everything will be all right when sometimes all someone needs is someone who will just sympathize and be sad with them.
  2. Such heartbreak!
  3. Hmm... I finished it. Still didn't care for it, though it could be my taste. I actually didn't like the characters...
  4. And what do you say to Polynesian members and members of other cultures where tattoos are a vital part of their culture and history? I've never heard of anyone having to remove a tattoo.
  5. Oh, I would never get one because I don't know what it would look like when I'm old, but my dream tattoo is a leaf on my upper left arm.
  6. I plan to remain a Cancer. I'm a water sign, darn it! Cancer actually fits me! For what it's worth, I think tattoos are cool.
  7. Well, then, can't the law for polygamy make illegal such practices? To suggest that all polygamous situations are bad is grossly unfair. These groups may certainly be going against all ethics and morals, but can't the law deal with those rarer situations as they occur?
  8. Sounds like you're safe. =D My grandma recently went through the temple, and my dad decided it would be nice to do my grandfather's work. Turns out my brother had already reserved it... now I guess I'll let them fight it out.
  9. Thanks. I've already talked to my doc about it, and she has a few tricks up her sleeve to prevent anything. I should be on it about two cycles before the wedding. Fortunately my guy has been married before and knows all about it.
  10. I don't think I met you before you disappeared, so... greetings!
  11. Well, breaking the Law of Chastity IS a sin. That being said, it's difficult to go off sex when you're used to it... which is why it's so important to wait until marriage. It is a sin to decide you don't want to repent now, but I think you should follow what promptings you feel. If you feel you want to return to church, pray, etc, all of those things, for the love of all that is good, do it. Those things are good.
  12. As has been said, it's probably not the best thing to command. I dont think there is anything wrong, of course, with choosing to be vegetarian/vegan. But the scripture mentioned seems to frown upon commanding people to do it. Don't get me wrong: I think vegetarianism/veganism are extremely good things.
  13. Hope this isn't too freakish to post. I wasn't sure where else to post it, and I knew that if I went to Yahoo answers I would be told to just have sex with my fiance. I've recently started the pill in prep for getting married. So far, the wedding date as planned is mid-cycle. However, now I'm suddenly terrified the pill will throw everything off. It happened to my sister-in-law and she was bleeding on her wedding day. What are the odds that can happen?
  14. But the Sobe energy drinks and the Amp Lemonade are so tasty! When I was teaching, some kids knew "teacher was tired" if I had an energy drink on my desk. My excuse is that I suffer mild insomnia... not enough to require medication, but every now and then I just can't sleep all night and need something to get me through the day.
  15. I'm trying to decide how to plan my career future. I was trained a teacher. This spring, my contract was not renewed. So were a lot of other teachers. So the teaching job market was very competitive, and instead I wound up working for the local BSA council. I LOVE my job there and I'm pretty much obsessed with Boy Scouts. It's also a lot less stressful than teaching. My will-then-be husband and I will be moving to Logan, Utah in the fall. While I plan on looking for teaching jobs in that area, my boss likes the idea of transferring me to the council office in Logan. Which would be great. It's just that since teaching jobs aren't really posted until April and May, it's hard to really plan anything for sure. Part of me wants to say "to heck with teaching" and stay with the BSA. But I did enjoy teaching, and the hours are better. But I already have this job and it's a sure thing. Any advice?
  16. Gotcha. I think the WoW is truly open to quite a bit of personal interpretation. I drink caffeine, I even have an energy drink on a bad day, and I love the idea of tea and coffee. Probably more likely to drink tea than coffee. I have a very churchy co-worker who drinks a bit of coffee every now and then. She blames her daughters for tempting her with their coffee pot, but sometimes she needs the caffeine. She figures that she gave up smoking and alchohol and abstains from those, she can manage a sip of coffee when it's needed. I also knew the sweetest little widow in the ward who confessed to drinking all sorts of fun drinks when she and her husband went on vacation. It made her all the more adorable. My opinion of the WoW is most things banned are just fine... but only in moderation; they're just too addictive to risk it.
  17. How long have you been waiting to say that?
  18. Fox: 1 Hunter: 0. This is like when my pet rat attacked my pet cat.
  19. Having been in a very similar situation, talk to the bishop. I did this after I stopped, and even then mine was able to give me some great advice and be able to check up with me. As for the temple... I don't know. The temple wasn't a concern at the time with me. I've heard it said that masturbation isn't quite on the same level as other sexual sins, but it can lead to other things and even in itself is not quite for which sexual feelings were intended. *tries to remember* I didn't take the sacrament for a couple of weeks. That was it. But please, talk to the bishop. He can be your ally. Masturbation is an easy thing to slip back into, so you want someone who can help you.
  20. Good to hear you like them. I actually read the first edition... and I have to confess I hated it. Though the author is very nice! I emailed him with my criticisms and he was great. I recently started reading the final edition, and so far it seems lots of improvement was made. I'll go with your recommendation and continue!
  21. It's not just caffeine; otherwise, dark chocolate would be banned and I would cry. I had this conversation on the mormon.org facebook page just the other week, I swear. The caffeine is a big negative because of the amount it contains, and some other things in it slow the absorption of iron. A lot of people say tea is much healthier than coffee, and I think I agree. But I can stick to my herbals quite happily.
  22. Hi Newbie!!!
  23. Apparently this is the "hot new series" by a Utah author. Any thoughts on it from those who have read it?
  24. If only human minds weren't so prone to wandering...
