  1. That's because in Utah, July 24th is an official state holiday. While LDS in other areas may celebrate the pioneers entering Salt Lake Valley around that date, most other states' legislators and governors don't recognize it as important enough to declare it an officially paid holiday. Go figure.
  2. On a more serious note relating to the OP, I think there has been a misconception and/or misinterpretation of things. Instead of people actually getting whiter in color, I believe that people who find joy and happiness through living the Gospel show it in their countenance. You can usually tell a person is happy and confortable with who they are before God by how they look outwardly, and you could say that some people are positively glowing. That does not mean that a dark-skinned person actually turns white, but that they have that 'glow' of the Gospel about them. That glow comes from within.
  3. Do you mean that Jesus really doesn't want me to be a Sunbeam? Becuase that always disappointed all the Moonbeams in the world.
  4. I haven't seen flypaper in years. I always got freaked out that I would accidentally get tangled in it, or worse, have it stick to my face as I walked by.
  5. Oh, so you admit it! I can see the headline now: "Pastor admits to bribery, doesn't know if he gave them or received them".
  6. Oh, come on Pam, you know you were getting bribes and kick-backs. Just like when your dentist or insurance agent send you desk calendars and refrigerator magnets. Evil, pure evil, isn't that right Anne?
  7. They knew it was there. It had been covered over. 19th-century baptistry discovered at new Provo LDS temple site | ksl.com
  8. That's been pretty much the gist of what I've read too.
  9. I agree. A man should be a gentleman no matter whether the woman is a jerk or not about it.
  10. The report I read is that it's the worst movie ever, not just worst in the series. Dreadfully bad, they said. Maybe you just have awfully bad taste in movies?
  11. It's a shot at Women's Libbers. Many men are afraid to be gentlemen these days because some women excoriate them for it.
  12. She's a prude? Maybe your definition of 'prude' differs from mine.
  13. While it may not rise to the level of a firing offense, the incident does need to be noted in her employment file and looked at if there becomes a pattern. And depending on the market for teachers in her area, she may not get her contract renewed when it expires.
  14. This is what happens when the "You didn't build that" people gain too much control.
  15. The chocolate wax donettes? I liked those for a while. The powdered ones are good, but the powder gets all over your clothes when you eat them. About all I eat nowadays are the pies.
  16. That's got to be close to the dumbest piece of advice I've seen concerning politics.
  17. I'll bet he hasn't sat through a Twilight movie so he couldn't really tell us which would be worse though.
  18. Yep, I'd seriously rather have my eyes gouged out than sit through 10 hours of Twilight movies. I couldn't even get through 2 minutes of that dreck last summer when one came on TV.
  19. Yeah. Everyone knows that it's the Republicans who should be compared to Hitler.
  20. You're right. He should have just defriended her.
  21. So you're saying they post on LDS.net? I can see where you could make that argument.
  22. Agreed. How boring would a game be if everyone playing was perfect?
  23. Yes, it connects through the wifi just fine. But like I say, when I go to 'store' it just shows what I can buy from B&N. Some people have told me I can borrow ebooks from the library, but I see no controls on the unit that would indicate that that is possible.
