Okay guys, let's try to get along.

I don't know the current rule, but I know that when I was on my mission there were times when I sent a companion off on transfers and I was alone for 3-4 hours before the next one arrived. No one said anything to me about getting another priesthood holder to accompany me during those times, and I didn't seek one out.

No.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge whether she was wearing garments or not. Some garments will shrink up over time. I have one pair of old bottoms that barely hit me mid-thigh when I sit down now that were the proper length when I bought them. I also have a pair of bottoms the same size but in a different fabric that still go well below the knee.

Not to be picky, but we have heard of investigators. In fact, we often talk about people who are actively taking missionary discussions as 'investigators'. What we have not heard of is the LDS Church sending out 'investigators' to look into possible supernatural occurrances or people.

Let's not let this thread devolve into how much we support or dislike Glenn Beck's politics. This thread is about his efforts to explain the LDS Church as he views it. If you're not able to do that, please feel free to ignore this thread.

Welcome to the site. I hope you like it here.

They don't let their fans storm the field after a win against a team they claim is not their rival either.

The 'edit post to make sense' button is broken.

I think the first thing to do when people start yelling at you is to remember that they are not yelling at you personally, they are yelling at a system that they don't understand. It's rarely personal, even if they make personal comments directed toward you. And even if they make personal comments directed at you, it's best just to ignore those comments. The best way to deal with these kinds of people is to calmly explain what they need to do to rectify the situation, and put the responsibility for their problems back on them. If they want to be abusive, then you calmly tell them that you won't tolerate their abuse, and if they do it again you will hang up.

I think I know how you felt. In fact, I felt somewhat similarly when I attended that particular open house. It seemed to me that the people in charge were wholely unprepared for the number of people attending, and had no idea how to deal with the crowds in such a way as to make everyone's experiences positive. Which is quite odd, given that previous open houses in the nearby Salt Lake Valley area seemed to be much better organized, and presumably the same people should have been running the event. The Draper and Oquirrh Mountain temple open houses were certainly more enjoyable and spiritually uplifting events to me and my family. I left trying to figure out why I went away feeling so uninspired by what I had seen and heard there. Maybe it was me, I just don't know for sure.

Name Tag as a Church Service Missionary
john doe replied to CommanderSouth's topic in General Discussion
Name tags would be used to identify yourself to others as you come upon them in performing the duties you have been assigned to do as a missionary. Even Ward Missionaries generally only wear their tags (if they even have them) while they are out and about doing missionary work. I'm a little confused as to how your wearing a name tag while working from home on the computer will help others identify you as a missionary. Wouldn't it be more helpful to have an avatar that identified you as a missionary? Wouldn't that make more sense? If you are really determined to have a name tag, I suggest you bring the subject up with whoever you report to on your service mission and they can give guidance as to whether or not one is needed in your situation. -
I go topless at the pool. Nobody says anything about it, at least to my face.

Yes, they do watch it. Perhaps not as prevalent as men, but some women do watch porn.

That is the age I had always heard, 25. I had never heard 18 before. There is a huge amount of maturing and growing up done between 18 and 25 in most men, even if the quote were true.

I assume you have a reference for that somewhere. When did he say that?

Did you try rubbing Aloe Vera on it? I hear that stuff can fix any ailment.
-
Do you have an authoritative source for that assertion? I've never heard that before.

That's just the teachers for one high school's students. They teach during released-time in a nearby building off school grounds. In a school with 1200 students, it wouldn't be unusual for 800-900 to attend seminary during the school day depending on the community in Utah.

I'm really offended that you would say that about me.
