  1. So, you've already seen the future and know that she will be cranky? Very interesting....
  2. They have looked me up using my name, birthdate, and ward before to verify I have been endowed. It's no big deal.
  3. BY keeping in touch. There are so many ways these days to stay connected even halfway around the world.

  5. I have always had good experiences at the distribution center. I'm sure that sometimes they get bored with having to answer the same 5 questions all day every day, but I think they try to be as helpful as possible without being ornery.
  6. Priesthood Session isn't on Friday nights either. No wonder you can't find it.
  7. Whenever I hear someone say that I always ask them how much less they could care before they couldn't care less. And then I get the same look that you get.
  8. Let's not turn this into a discussion on Gays, okay?
  9. I haven't read all of this story yet, but what I have read is interesting to me. Prison chaplains: The ups and downs of ministering to the incarcerated | Deseret News
  10. I suggest you go to your local swimming pool or fitness center and use the showers after the activity. After a while, you learn how to look at other men without staring at their genitalia and stop being self-conscious about how yours may or may not compare to theirs. You eventually realize that everyone is different and that it is no big deal. Side story time: My coworker went to Germany to pick up his son from his mission and tour the country a little bit. In one area, they spent a couple nights at the home of a Branch President. In the evening, the BP's parents came over for dinner and to swim in the BP's pool. So after dinner, the father went to the side of the pool, took off his clothes and garments, and dove in and swam a couple laps naked. This took my friend by surprise, and he and his wife put on swimsuits before entering the pool, but the sight of this 80 year-old man swimming naked was obviously not a big deal to the family and it was implied that such things are not unusual in many European areas. The thought of such natural private-public nudity kind of freaks us Americans out a little bit because of our culture, but in many areas of the world it is no big deal. I'm not advocating that we should endorse or introduce those kinds of things here in the US, but you may be sent to a place where such private-public nudity is accepted, and it would do you good to not get freaked out by it. I know that I have read stories of missionaries in some parts of the world who had to go to public bathhouses because they don't have a tub in their apartment, so it may end up being something you will have to figure out how to deal with.
  11. Which, according to the story you linked, is about 20% of what he will need to defend himself.
  12. Oh, you don't have to leave the discussion. I just want you to try to see both sides of the story and get the facts straight before rushing to judgment and being influenced by propaganda churned out by news organizations with an agenda.
  13. Just because I don't tow the party line that MSNBC spews does not mean that I get my news from Fox News. Your assertion is baseless. What Sphere would that be? The one that allows for evidence to come out before rushing to judgement? The one that allows for the possibility that Zimmerman may or may not be guilty of a crime because we haven't yet seen all the evidence? http://www.lds.net/forums/current-events/45817-trayvon-martin-17.html#post666516 But you haven't yet changed your mind on the possibility that Zimmerman may have been completely justified in defending himself, have you? News Flash: Skittles and iced tea don't always add up to 'instant victim of violence'. You mean by starting a thread claiming that the 911 call shows that Zimmerman is a racist?http://www.lds.net/forums/current-events/45817-trayvon-martin.html#post662167 Oh yeah, that was shot down pretty quickly, wasn't it? http://www.lds.net/forums/current-events/45817-trayvon-martin.html#post662171 And here we are 20 pages on, and you still will not accept the possibility that Martin might have initiated the escalation from 'neighborhood watch guy sees and follows unfamiliar guy at night in area where property crimes had recently occurred' to 'neighborhood watch guy shoots guy he claims attacked him and was beating his head into the sidewalk and has wounds seemingly consistent with that story'. You, sir, seem to be the one influenced by the propaganda spewed out by the media without questioning it. I love the way you try to claim that you alone are looking at all possibilities yet have already convicted Zimmerman in your own mind. http://www.lds.net/forums/current-events/45817-trayvon-martin-16.html#post666416 http://www.lds.net/forums/current-events/45817-trayvon-martin-17.html#post666503 http://www.lds.net/forums/current-events/45817-trayvon-martin-18.html#post666532
  14. And therein lies the problem. You have let your emotions tell your brain to ignore all the evidence (or lack thereof) and come to the conclusion that Zimmerman is guilty of something with no evidence to back up that emotion. You are the epitome of the kind of person that Sharpton and the New Black Panthers want to influence when they go off on their baseless diatribes. You seem to have a hard time separating facts from emotions.
  15. Let me get this straight. You're saying that the act of following someone is an aggressive act? And that a person is justified in initiating a fight merely because he/she is being followed in a strange neighborhood at night where the locals probably don't know them and recent property crimes have occurred? Really, where did you find this tidbit of information? Because it has always been my understanding that when you shoot at a person you shoot to kill. There is generally not the time in a close hand-to-hand battle to aim at a non-lethal area. I've always been told to shoot for the center-mass area, and that aiming for an arm or a leg generally means you will miss your target. Have you ever even shot a gun before? Do you know how difficult it is to aim a handgun with a high degree of accuracy? I've never heard that part of the 911 transcript. Please link to it so I can hear it for myself. No, none of those assertions are common sense, or proof of anything. Sounds to me like you've already made up your mind. I thought you were the guy who embraced the whole 'innocent until proven guilty' thing. But your posts show the absolute opposite.
  16. Let me answer that now-- Nope, won't happen.
  17. It's been said before, and I'll repeat it here. Anyone who joins a church, any church, just to gain the approval of a guy or girl, is doing it for the wrong reasons. It's not cause for celebration.
  18. Why? Because he shot a man that he claims attacked him? Why would defending yourself make you guilty of any crime? Is it because there was a gun involved?
  19. No, the key word is not following. The key word may be attacking or possibly even threatening. You do not get a free pass to beat on somebody just because they are following you. There is no defense needed for someone who is merely following you and reporting your movements and location to police, because there is no threat to you. The important questions in my mind are who initiated the physical contact, and was Zimmerman fearful for his life or safety at the time he shot Martin? If Martin initiated the fight, and if Zimmerman was reasonably in fear for his life or safety at the time he shot Martin, then in my mind he was justified in taking whatever means he could in saving his own life. If Zimmerman threatened or attacked Martin, then it obviously puts a different light in the situation. But so far I have seen no evidence come out that paints Zimmerman as the aggressor who threatened or attacked Martin.
  20. So you're saying that posting links to stories about black people beating up white people in the name of Trayvon is not relevant to the issue? I'm thinking you're just angry that the events and article don't help your social and political views. If you find any articles where whites or Hispanics are beating up blacks in the name of George Zimmerman, feel free to post them.
  21. They must be the same people who drive Dodge trucks in the US.

  23. My first question is why the callings are going unfilled. Are they being refused or are the calls not going out? Second, the only thing you can really control is yourself. Make sure that you are attempting to be part of the solution, and not part of the problem.
  24. I disagree with the premise that just because someone has been attending church all their life that they don't get anything out of it. I believe it was Pres. Kimball who, in his 80s said that he still learned something every time he went to the temple. It's been my experience that I learn more and gain more when I am an active participant in the lessons, whether as an instructor or as a member of the class. The times I have come away with less is when I have sat quietly in the class doing and saying nothing, adding nothing to the discussion. Those are the times I have sat back waiting for someone else to feed me instead of actively seeking to be fed spiritually.
  25. I love it when people get their holier-than-thou jollies by telling others that they have a low intelligence level by not choosing the same type of recreational activity as they do. BTW, studies have shown that someone who chooses the same recreation activity for 25 straight years is pretty unimaginative and dull. It's okay to stretch your horizons and have different experiences and try new and different things.
