  1. Has he sought help/counseling for his PTSD? That in all liklihood is the root of his alcoholism. The worst experience of my life was my time spent on the path of PTSD. I understand now why many use drugs and/or alcohol to kill off the PTSD, even if temporarily. Fortunately I never had a use for either and though I suffered for a great length of time, I was able to overcome it and am a better person for that experience. As odd as it may sound, I would not trade away that experience (PTSD) and the person I have become from that trial. I hope he finds relief. It is a living/waking nightmare. As a side note I was going to join the army at 17, do boot in the summer between Jr. and Sr. years of High School, reserves during my Sr. year and then go full time after graduation. Left to my own devices it is a decision I passed on and regret. The Lord had a different path for me which nearly 30 years later I can see quite clearly now.
  2. Very true. Every single person who has assaulted me at work was either intoxicated or high. Every. Single. One.
  3. I've worked Sunday's for many years now. I work graveyards, Sun-Wed. I have made my HT appointments for Sunday's right after church. I also told the EQ presidency that I only have time available for two families until my work schedule changes. I HT without a companion for many years. I had my son go with me for a couple years until he turned 14 and now is officially my companion. I found ways to make both my profession and religion work together. I would seek a way to make them balance, rather then leaving a good paying job without a more compelling reason then HT. You can find the time if you try, and in reality, taking care of your family is a much higher priority then HT.
  4. English, a little bit of spanish, tweaker and criminalese.
  5. Mine are still a few years away. At least one will probably still wait til 19.
  6. That was a very wise decision. I'm in the avoid appearances of impropriety crowd.
  7. I spent a lot of money on my house/property. If I had any problems with the boundaries, I'd be doing everything I had to in order to protect my investment. I'd try to do it nicely, but in the end, I paid a lot of money for what I own and would protect it.
  8. September = 710 hours. Removing sleep hours = 510 hours. 196 hours at work = 314 hours Let's make a real conservative guess that 1/3 of those remaining hours are spent out in public = 105 hours. 105 public hours + 196 work hours = 301 hours. So, a minimum of 301 hours last month I carried a firearm with me when away from home. 301 hours in public with a firearm and not one single shot fired. Gosh...imagine that.
  9. I think with five police officers and one corrections officer in my ward that this would end rather quickly.
  10. Celebrate Halloween. Cancel Thanksgiving and have a Halloween turkey. Cancel Christmas and have Halloween presents!! Zombie Bob joins us each Halloween!!! People started to talk about Christmas wayyyyy to early last year (like back in September). My response was to put up this deocration on December 1st. Zombie Bob likes Christmas too.
  11. Yea, really no other way to interpret that statement.
  12. I only play one online game (Delta Force Blackhawk Down). If any of you choose to play, look for our server: THB Murders On. Let me know if you come in. My game name is BravoTwoZeroTHB or Bravo2ZeroTHB. I'm in our server every Thursday night and some Fri and Sat nights.
  13. Why don't you send an email to whichever one you are not going to be with and let them know?
  14. We should be talking about Glocks, not the weather and not our health. No wonder so many of you are hellbound.
  15. And you know this to be the case how?
  16. Going to hell if you don't carry Glocks. Going to hell if you choose beans over rice in your food storage.
  17. I don't wear my garments during pre-planned sports. I play pickup games of soccer and basketball with them on. When I was still playing in an organized league I did not wear them while playing soccer. Same with basketball. I also wear them when I go out for my 4 mile rucksack hike (exercise) and come home quite sweaty. I change into a clean pair after I shower.
  18. I play Blackhawk Down. The game has an in screen chat function. The group I play with uses mumble (voice over the internet program) and we just talk to each other while playing.
  19. The only time I don't carry is when my activity is not conducive to carrying. But then everyone is used to me carrying too so it just never comes up.
  20. The type of bullet is more likely to determine car door penetration, not the caliber (at least in the larger calibers we have been discussing.) I don't know of any semi-automatic pistols that must be manually cocked after each shot either. Our office has had shootings where .45 rounds have failed to kill the suspect, including one where the bullet bounced off the skull. Same with the 9mm. Both calibers have also killed the assailants. We use a high quality tactical round from Federal as our duty ammo, so the ammo wasn't the cause of either "bouncing" incident.
  21. Some info here that may be of help as you do your food storage and emergency preparedness: Easy Preparedness: Why Food Storage and Emergency Preparedness?
  22. Buy Glock or you are all going to hell. How's that for derailing the rest of this thread?
  23. I can see that a number of members of this message board are hellbound. That's a pity, you all seemed like such nice people. Just goes to show you can never really get to know someone on the internet.
  24. Gun selection is like car selection. All kinds of arguements about which is better. As mentioned above, you are a heathen and will damned for all eternity if you choose something other then a Glock. That said, the first thing is to choose a caliber that you are comfortable shooting AND has a consistent ability to put someone down. I am assuming you are talking about a self defense weapon. Then if you have a range that will rent guns, you should shoot a bunch and different calibers. Whichever one you are comfortable with is the right choice. But if you choose something other then a Glock you are a pagan and going to hell for all eternity. I have carried several different handguns and finally settled on the Glock 17 early in my career. I've carried the same gun for 13 years now (G17). It has consistently performed. The only other advice I would suggest is to avoid anything but the larger brand name guns. You know, names like Glock, which I might add is what the armed portion of church security carry, and thus the Official Handgun of the Church. All others of course will find themselves in Outer Darkness.
