Streets are about to get more dangerous.
ClickyClack replied to Blackmarch's topic in Current Events
Let me ask you something: Those people who can't legally have a gun, but would have someone "print" one for them. Do you really think that they're not getting guns already? Traceable in a crime? Such people generally already use guns that are stolen, or simply destroy them. Criminals already take "traceable" guns, obliterate the serial numbers, damage the barrel/bolt face, and render them "untraceable". This would change nothing. (Keep in mind that in obliterating the serial number, they're already committing yet another crime.) It's pretty tough to regulate aluminum, steel, and plastic. Like it or not, criminals with the intent to use a firearm in their crimes are not deterred by any of these laws. If they're already willing to risk a felony for having a firearm when they shouldn't, and more felonies for committing a crime and for using a gun in their crime, then adding one more felony on the list for having an illegal firearm isn't going to change things. By the time they're done with their crime, there's generally already at least 10-20 different laws that they have broken, what's one more on top of that? That's the funny thing about criminals... they have this annoying way of skirting around laws. -
I'm in that camp. I've told my son three things: 1. If he legitimately needs to defend himself or someone else, he should make sure that he comes out the winner. 2. If it was legitimate defense, I will ALWAYS be there to back him up, so he doesn't need to worry about consequences. 3. If it is NOT legitimate defense, then #2 will not apply.

On my mission, we ate lunch with a family one day, and stuck around to visit with them. Mission rules allowed 45 minutes for eating, and right at that time, the father of the family said "Elders, I'm not chasing you out, and I'm not telling you to leave, but your allotted 45 minutes are up." Even I was able to get that hint.

I can certainly understand those feelings. The idea that I could someday be equal with my Savior and my Father In Heaven just doesn't seem possible to me. I know that it is promised, but I just can't wrap my head around it. But, either way, I plan on doing everything I can to make it to the Celestial Kingdom anyway, so it doesn't really have any effect on how I live. So, I guess once I'm there, I'll take the time to figure it out, but here on Earth, I'm too busy worrying about getting myself there to worry about what will happen after I get there.

Avoiding Sexual Desires? (pornography)?
ClickyClack replied to someldsdude's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
It's like any other addiction. You can't replace that desire in your brain with... nothing. You have to replace it with something. Give this a listen, and consider seeking professional help in further ways to change your desires. -
People tell me that I fell out of the ugly tree. And that I hit every branch on the way down.

Help! Feeling torn about life-altering decision.
ClickyClack replied to Jenamarie's topic in Advice Board
I don't know what part of WA you're in, but compare the cost of living where you're at, and where you're moving to. I know that some parts of WA are awfully expensive.... -
White and brown rice are so close in calories that it doesn't matter. Brown rice does have more nutrients, though.

Sexual Feelings Towards My Fiance
ClickyClack replied to ldsguy422's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
If you weren't hot for each other, there would be a problem. Keep your behavior in check, get married, then enjoy it. You're both normal. -
Just on a hobby level. I still use a Digital Rebel XT.

Oh, goodness, my wife is sooooo used to me doing dangerous and stupid things. Like the time I was trying to get a good picture of a rattlesnake that I found. I had to give it a good bit of coaxing to finally get it to coil up and "pose" for me.

August is always full of crazy thunderstorms, and into the start of September. If I recall, last year had a storm that put last night's to SHAME. A TREMENDOUSLY HUGE bolt hit very closely, with the associated thunderclap that sounded like our neighborhood was being blown up, right at a... well.... "personal" moment between my wife and I. I will never forget the look of my wife's face, frozen in fear, in just that pose. Anyway, I took this from my rooftop a few years ago, right at this time of year:

Congratulations!

Count the calories in the food that you eat. That will be your guide. Even if you don't have a lot of time, you can still probably work in some pushups, situps, and maybe even pullups in just a few minutes each day.

Portal Home - Spawx Web Hosting doesn't render correctly in Firefox. Looks kind of poor for a web hosting company. I'm not very familiar with pricing in the VPS market, but I would think that it would be tough to compete with places like Bluehost. I know some details of their operation, and they DEFINITELY have economies of scale working for them, and in a BIG way.

What would be your favorite non spiritual posessions?
ClickyClack replied to Hala401's topic in General Discussion
That part is easy. A couple of books on cake making, a log book to keep notes of your attempts, and eight or ten tries of experimentation, and you'll probably have it. I did the same thing for some cookies that I make - spicy ginger/molasses cookies. It took ten or fifteen rounds of trying different ingredients, different brands of ingredients, and different ratios, but I did perfect it. They are... unbelievable. If I take them to a function, they will be gone LONG before anything else, and people will ask me for more. The same happened with cakes. Two years ago, my daughter wanted strawberry cake for her birthday. I've never had a good strawberry cake, so I bought a cake-making book, some cake pans, and went to work. Starting from the book and working onwards, I came up with a strawberry cake that is... simply... astounding. Go ahead, Hala... you can do it. It's fun to try, and even "failures" are still good. -
Some of our friends use it more in the... well... bedroom, as a natural lube.

In our neighborhood, calling the city on other neighbors seems to be a sport, it goes around and around and around. The latest thing that a bunch of us got reported for was having our garbage cans at the top of our driveway, not behind our fence. Although, the official from the city agreed that it was ridiculous, gave us the written statement, and told us not to worry about it, that he wouldn't do anything over it.

You're taking the position that "hot" (sexually appealing) and "spiritual" are mutually exclusive, I would argue that they're not. I find the fact that my wife is very spiritual, dresses modestly, wears her garments, and takes the gospel seriously to be very hot.

20 years ago, when I served as a missionary in Mexico, it was already a lawless, violent, crime-ridden, cartel-controlled wasteland, and it's gone downhill from there. Seeing a new temple erected there is a shining beacon of light.

We'll see once Cyborg is back in the ring. On the whole thing of women fighting... I'm torn. I love a good MMA match, and women's matches can be good. But at the same time, things like Kim Couture having her jaw broken in half is quite a bit more displeasing to see than if it were a man.

You may want to look at the symptoms of adult ADD, and see if they describe your wife. Not in the sense of "Yeah, everyone has a little of those symptoms", but in the sense of "Wow, that is her exactly, and glaringly so."

Guns in Theaters are a Good Idea?
ClickyClack replied to annewandering's topic in General Discussion
You probably already know this, but for those not in the know, in the vast majority of times, "It fell out and went off" is a cover for either: "It fell and I tried to catch it, and pulled the trigger" or "I was playing with it and pulled the trigger". Conservatives lean more toward personal responsibility. Liberals tend more toward legislating things instead of taking personal responsibility. -
Kind of like Shadrack, Meshac, and To Bed We Go.

Each morning, pray and ask for help finding good friends, and for help in facing your challenges. Ask the Lord for direction, and make goals for the day. During the day, work on finding good friends, and on overcoming your challenges. Each night, pray and talk with the Lord about how you worked on both of those that day, and how it went with meeting your goals. When we're down, it's easy to turn to wishing, but as a good friend of mine says, "Working will win, when wishing will not!"
