Is it just me, or does there seem to be a high incidence of mid-singles women who just don't get this? I've seen a lot of "I want a big family, but I'm just not [settled into my career|over my divorce ten years ago|ready to date] yet at [35-42]. It's bad enough that they can't seem to figure out menopause is HF's way of saying "get a move on," but they don't seem to care what continuing to make excuses might do to their future kids if they ever do get ready.

If you could get the jello to set fast enough, there are several DIY 3D printer designs on Instructables that would work.

Even when copying jello?

Temple marriage and other explanations for nonmember family

This is why I keep saying we need to convert the Pope. -
Cookies and cake! Oh, you mean after that... Depends on the ward leadership, I guess. Lots of folks can tell you what should happen, but as we all know too well, there's a big gap between "should" and "does." Safe bet; volunteer to go out with the missionaries as soon as you can. They love the company, and the best way to really learn anything is to help teach it.

Interview concerns
NightSG replied to clej's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
Given the number of missionaries we hear about coming home early or having other serious problems because they've never been away from their parents before, I'd have to say this type of parenting is pretty prevalent. It also causes a lot of other problems when the child does leave home, and has no idea what to do in the world without mommy and daddy constantly there. Frankly, I think the 1989 National Jamboree was one of the best things that ever happened to me; 12 days (we drove both ways, camping at state parks and military bases) 1,000 miles from my family at age 13, and most of the scouts and scoutmasters were from other troops in the council, so I only knew a couple of the adult leaders. While I was far from being "on my own," it was a much different support structure from what I was used to in a small town with parents, grandparents, and the inescapable 30-40 local cousins, and the experience helped a lot years later when I really was on my own for the first time in a strange city. Since then, I've reconnected with a few of the scouts from my Jamboree troop, and some of the others I met there, and the feeling seems to be pretty common that we all are better adults for having that experience. -
How can I learn to love my friend who looks at porn?
NightSG replied to kenzers7's topic in Advice Board
How would you learn to love him if you didn't know he looks at porn? Odds are, you don't know a tenth of the sins of anyone you've ever met. -
Roundabout or Four Way Stop. What's your preference?
NightSG replied to classylady's topic in General Discussion
The solution I suggested several times for one in Richardson was wrong-way tire damagers. Partly because every idiot I nearly hit head on in it was driving a truck with huge, expensive tires. -
I dunno...last five significant dreams I tried to interpret...three turned out to be completely literal and creepily accurate. (Including details I couldn't possibly have known since they hadn't existed the last time I was in those places.) The other two were just as vivid and around the same time, so I'm just waiting to see. Why can't the Lamborghini, mansion and Denise Richards dream fall into that category, though?

AFAICT, that's about 95% of midsingles. Most of the remaining 5% are the ones living in mom's basement playing video games all day or similar. The half dozen of us worldwide who don't think we're the special Chosen To Be Alone crowd are pretty much out of luck.

We've seen that locally in the form of a couple of city council members who, when questioned about the possibility of spending cuts, immediately started going on about the dangers of cutting police, fire and EMS. Even when people started the discussion with photos of 5-man street crews sent to fill a single pothole, or the 3-man trash crew in the parks. (One drives, one sits in the truck bed, and one hangs of the bumper while they drive from can to can.)

On the other hand, how much is shut down that was cost-neutral and/or profitable? If National Parks are so expensive, why do they refuse to turn them over to the states when those states are willing to run them? (I realize the current offers at Grand Canyon and Mount Rushmore are to temporarily fund and/or staff the parks at state expense, but I'm sure if the Feds offered to just walk away, those states would gladly take over ownership.) All at once? (Then again, that's pretty much how our former fire chief got canned; soliciting a minor that turned out to be a cop working an online sting, and still having the chat window open when the Ranger showed up to arrest him in his office.)

Almost certainly an aesthetic choice based on lighting conditions and how the cameras will pick it up. A lot of thought goes into clothing for photography, so it may be a matter of someone simplifying the list of best choices to the point where it was just easier for everyone to get pretty much the same thing. Or maybe there was just a big sale at JC Penney.

You know, the LDS Church doesn't have a monopoly on marriages that work in this life, and you've got time to upgrade later. Make the temple your goal, and just consider this another step closer to that goal. If it helps, think of it as the next step of dating; sort of an acceptable form of shacking up :)

Want advice for protecting the underside of my car
NightSG replied to Still_Small_Voice's topic in Advice Board
Texas road dust works well for me. Just keep a steady stream of it blowing on the undercarriage, and rust there is pretty much a non-issue. -
The only title someone needs in order to listen to your problems is friend. Just remember to listen to the Spirit before acting on any counsel they give you, and go to the bishop to confess anything that requires such.

This doesn't seem to fit anywhere else on the board, but I guess sewing is a preparedness skill, since we aren't likely to become nudists over simple disruptions in supply chains... I got spoiled on a machine with a freearm, and now I've got a very-well-maintained Emdeko without one. I know grandma used to make men's dress shirts (as well as almost everything else including Disney-character trauma plate carriers for a cop friend's body armor) on a Singer 401 that was state-of-the-art when granddad gave it to her, (Mom's still using it, BTW. Why couldn't Singer have gone into the car business?) so I know a freearm isn't really necessary for these things, but I never learned to sew sleeves on without it. Can someone explain the process in caveman terms? Next issue; I recently picked up another dress shirt on eBay that looks great, except it desperately needs to be taken in a couple inches on the sides and a bit on the sleeves. The front pieces are a perfect match for a fitted shirt I've been comparing to, but the back is too wide. I would do it as usual, tapering the side seams down from the armpit, but it's also a vertical pinstripe pattern that would really show that much of an angle mismatch. I'm thinking of taking the side and sleeve seams out and redoing from that point, but I don't have a felling foot for the Emdeko to match the original seams, and my attempts at flat felled seams without the foot never look right. Would French seams look OK, since I'll be doing both sides anyway? Is it that much extra effort to remove the cuffs so I can redo the entire sleeve tube to get a clean, even taper there? How do I make sure to not change the shoulders when putting the sleeves back on? They fit exactly right as it is.

He could be right; we do get all kinds in here. OP: Keep praying, and make sure you're paying attention while waiting for an answer.

My mom knits while listening to financial reports. Apparently after a few decades of knitting and being an accountant, it helps her to sort through the details without getting bogged down in them so she's still seeing the big picture. It must work; she catches others' mistakes all the time, and makes very few of her own. (In the accounting, she makes plenty in the knitting. Sometimes I think she spends as much time unraveling as knitting.)

Do you have an outbuilding of some sort? Anything with a slab more than 20-30 feet from the house? A good in-floor safe away from the main house is the best option for security, fire resistance and ease of access. Granddad's solution was a Corliss about 3'x3'x5' he'd picked up at an auction somewhere, placed in his all-metal shop building. With the 6" thick walls, it was so heavy that the first flatbed wrecker that tried to haul it off after he died had to call for backup. Pretty sure nobody could have taken it without waking up the neighbors, even though the closest ones were 150 yards away.

Ok, here we go on the comparison photos. Unaltered, decent brand shirt, probably $35-$40 if I hadn't found it at an outlet store for $9.99: This is how pretty much all men's shirts with a big enough collar (17.5") look on me unless they're "fitted" or "slim" styles, and I ain't very slim. Same brand, taken in on the sides, but not the sleeves: George, sides and sleeves taken in: (WalMart $12.99 brand. *Better than Puritan but still WalMart.) That sleeve looks tighter than it is. Probably had it a bit twisted in the pic. And for comparison, the unaltered Van Heusen Fitted ($45-$50) I picked up on eBay for $5: I'll spare you the shirtless shot from the singles' pool party, but I think you can get a pretty good idea of what I'm camouflaging in these. Suffice it to say that the $25 used sewing machine I picked up Tuesday has more than paid for itself already. A little work on a jacket will do the same thing, though it is more effort due to removing and reattaching the lining. Basically, a little practice, a few Howcast and/or Instructables lessons, and a sewing machine can expand your wardrobe cheaply while making it look expensive.

I think they mention it somewhere on the site, but the uniform, loose mix is also excellent for root crops like carrots and potatoes. I used it in regular pots for a winter crop of radishes, too. If you're feeling industrious about setting things up, it's not expensive to rig up a small irrigation system for it, too. Then all you need is a regular hose timer to make the garden pretty low maintenance.

Also worth a mention is Home | Square Foot GardeningSquare Foot Gardening If you're buying in bulk, the supplies really aren't expensive, but be warned; if grass or weeds make their way into the SFG mix, you will have the healthiest weed crop you've ever seen. Pretty sure I could have made a square bale from the coastal bermuda that invaded my 32sf attempt at it.

Hmmm...no more driving to Church functions, then. It's far more dangerous than even a lot of "extreme" sports.
