  1. I can see the church having its own program and severing ties with BSA because its on now, an across the board agenda push with "civil rights" to back it - regardless of our religious and moral beliefs.
  2. Long term this will not end well.
  3. Good luck with it :)
  4. that says 8 acres. there are over 300,000 acres in Florida of which roughly 133,000 acres are meant for use to build a city of about 500,000.
  5. posted an updated (July 2015) link. Apparently, the church is still trying to nail down all the necessary bureaucratic paperwork...perhaps by the second coming
  6. In Florida, the church owns what Orlando broker Trevor Hall says "may be the state's largest piece of privately owned undeveloped real estate." The 315,000-acre Deseret Ranches, bought in the 1950s, is home to orange groves and cattle. But its location, about five miles southeast of booming Orlando, has caused its value to jump. The church is planning to build a community with 5,000 homes and 4,200 apartments, plus schools, offices and stores. Source So, wanna live near the city of Enoch one day? It was noted that this source was from 1991 Here's an update
  7. prescription drugs are fine when taken as directed by your doctor. abuse of prescription drugs and/or use of illegal drugs is not. The church strongly encourages marriage - especially being sealed to your spouse in the temple. Marriages and divorces occurring prior to membership in the church are not the business of the church except: 1. that a member is living up to the divorce decree (child support, alimony, ect.) Failure to take responsibility for legal obligations can affect temple worthiness...and perhaps membership dependent on certain circumstances. 2. Former spouses whom you had children with need to be noted in family history.
  8. OK, well, I can't help you much being in S.C. I guess with few options you have to bite the bullet or be creative...and repent later!
  9. time heals all wounds
  10. I know several men who have been divorced but are now high priests and have held leadership callings including as a member of a temple presidency so I have no idea what church "policy" your talking about. If a priesthood holder committed adultery they would in all likelihood be excommunicated - a certain way not to enter the celestial kingdom. Excommunication isn't meant as a punishment but as a method of helping someone see the errors of their ways and following the steps recommended by the stake president to fully repent receive forgiveness and have the priesthood and temple blessings restored - thereby enabling them to enter in the celestial glory on condition of continued righteousness..
  11. Hi :) James 1:5-7 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord."
  12. you can receive revelation anywhere. the temple helps us to focus on the sacred, but revelation isn't confined to the temple.
  13. If you were dying what would be the last thing you would try to tell those you cared about? Looking back at the April Conference addresses, Elder Packer's address was headed, "The end of all activity in the Church is to see that a man and a woman with their children are happy at home, sealed for eternity." Elder Perry's address was headed, "Family is the center of life and is the key to eternal happiness." Just a short time later they would pass away and the Supreme Court would rule in favor of same sex marriage. How profound and insightful their words seem now. Truly we have prophets in these latter-days.
  14. I'm not in city limits so there are no rules. The folks on the other side of the creek probably fire off as many rounds as they do set off fireworks but last night was pretty quiet so I think its pretty much over now,..and July 24th means nothing to folks out here, that's a western thing.
  15. not asking you to name the town but where on the dark side of the moon are you?
  16. is twerking allowed? I mean, how far out of bounds is out of bounds? your bishop has the contact info on your Ward's SA rep(s) and Stake high councilor over SA activities. Make yourself known.
  17. Welcome to the site. Hope you get your wish :)
  18. ah, for the good old days when you'd just wore what you had down to the creek and felt lucky if you weren't converted in the winter time...but I digress
  19. Yeah, fireworks start popping a few days before the 4th and end a few days after but with the 4th on Saturday this year its been an interesting weekend
