Politicians fight wars. As a Soldier, when planning a mission you start with clear objectives. You build your mission step by step, commit to success, and always have a "what next". You accomplish your objective, now "what next". Something throws a wrench in your mission, so "what next". I swear politicians never plan their "what next". They either never set realistic objectives or never commit to them. What was the goal for Afghanistan? What was the "what next"?

Pfft. The "near left" and even today's moderates are enemies to liberty.

I’m not sure which side I fall on, yet. I appreciate the expressed views, though.

Olivia Sandor was accepted to BYU-H but then denied a medical exemption for the COVID vaccine. While there may be more to the story, how much say does the First Presidency have in these issues? https://www.tpusa.com/live/shocking-byu-hawaii-is-anti-science-and-anti-student

Please Explain - Pope Reimposed Restrictions on the Latin Mass

I’ve been studying the Catholic Church and Catholicism recently. The struggle to maintain control is being lost and doctrine/politics are merging at many levels. I’m really enjoying the rich history and devotion. -
If the schools wanted to stop teaching English at all and actively start teaching that people who believed in God were mentally ill and needed to be locked up, would you support it as "part of their agency" and believe that opposing it was of Satan?

Grunt is a term used for someone who's military occupational specialty is infantry. Both Army and USMC have infantry, as @pam pointed out. Crossed Rifles is the Army insignia for infantry and the infamous blue cord is awarded upon completion of training at Ft Benning.

I gutted and remodeled a bathroom. I've spent most weekends at camp. I've taken a 4 day motorcycle trip with some great friends. I'm spending a few more weeks with my kids traveling. Who knows what else.

I don't understand your argument at all. Are you saying I'm required to allow my children to be exposed to sin and if I shelter them from that then I'm like Satan?

I disagree. The issue is many families aren't teaching their children values or the worth and importance of liberty. Additionally, those that are teaching CRT, Communism, etc aren't teaching children to think critically. They may "say" they are, but they aren't. They are indoctrinating their children. This is no different than the millions of other families, including us, that are indoctrinating our children. I give them a foundation of my beliefs. I hope they develop an affinity for, or a testimony of, those beliefs. I hope that they examine those beliefs and have an unshakeable understanding of them. Then I send them out into the world. Hopefully, as they encounter new ideas and opposing beliefs they sound those ideas off the foundation they were given, accepting what fits with their world view and rejecting what doesn't. With many households no longer focused on the family, those children are open to indoctrination by anyone.

Does the Lord want/need diverse perspectives?
Grunt replied to NeedleinA's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I had this discussion previously. -
I enjoy the time during sacrament. This week I was asked to bless as we were short on Priests. I was blessing with a shy young man who doesn't look at anyone or say a word, typically. I was deep in prayer and forgot where I was until I was kicked and noticed him standing up waiting for me.

I'm usually just talking to myself. Ask my wife. -
It's the schools job to teach them whatever my community tells them to teach them.

Does the Lord want/need diverse perspectives?
Grunt replied to NeedleinA's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
What exactly do you mean by "want diverse perspectives"? About what? Do you think God cares if blue is your favorite color and green is mine? Do you think he wants us to have those differing opinions? Do you think God cares if you think it's OK to drink coffee, beer, and not tithe and for me to believe not following those covenants is sinful? Do you think he wants us to have THOSE differing opinions? -
We just changed the requirements for our missionaries. We can have in-person meals now IF there is a non-member present. Ward leadership can authorize meals with less-active members or other members they feel would benefit.
-
I've never heard of a Transient Bishop. We do help members with rent and other things when needed.
-
We're pretty much back to normal. Missionaries still can't come to dinner, but that's about it.

I think a more proper statement might have been "not interested in efficiency at the expense of ......."

This was something I needed today. Thank you so much for posting it. I appreciate it more than you'll ever know.

Speak when NOT moved upon by the Holy Ghost
Grunt replied to Fether's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
You all are WAY smarter than I am and understand scripture far better than I do, but here is my take on this and how I wrap my pea brain around issues and concepts that cause some people to leave the Church. First, I believe Heavenly Father loves us and sent Christ to atone for our sins. Second, I believe that, as all-knowing, he understands what idiots we are in our mortal lives and the struggles we face. He sees the beginning and the end. Third, I believe that because of that, we receive revelation for our time. Because of that, policies may change. Fourth, changing policies don't change His laws. They don't change what exists in His kingdoms. Changing blacks holding priesthood authority or children of certain couples being baptized doesn't change what exists in Heaven. Single individuals making definitive statements about policy doesn't make it doctrine. Fifth, things like gender being eternal and marriage being between a man and a woman wasn't a policy declaration. It was a statement of God's truth. Policies may change based on this as things are revealed, but that won't make those policies doctrine either. Sixth, as unjust or off things seem to me, I trust God. When the Prophet says things that go against my beliefs, I question my beliefs. I follow the Prophet. That doesn't mean I believe the Prophet is infallible, it means that if I'm choosing between myself being wrong or the Prophet being wrong, I'll place my bet on the Prophet. -
Or coffee. Or any other number of things. I don't feel the need to point out to Saints that they are sinning. They already know. HOWEVER, as an adult convert, I. can tell you that it was extremely confusing to see Saints openly drinking beer, coffee, or other things as though it were normal and still tell others how to be good Saints. I have zero problem pointing out to others that a person's example may not be the best to follow. It drove me nuts and made things difficult. It was worse on this forum when other Saints didn't call it out. It's confusing and not exactly in the spirit of ministry.

Critical Race Theory - Someone (liberal) please explain
Grunt replied to Fether's topic in General Discussion
Do you think it matters what they say they are trying to do with their movement? Isn't what is actually being done with their movement more important? After all, once the bus leaves the station it really isn't "their" movement anymore.
