  1. Will do! It all depends on what time they release us Thursday and when I can get a ride to Temple Square.
  2. I think it will be Thursday afternoon. I want to watch the movie in the JS Memorial Building and buy a goat or something. I fly home Thursday evening.
  3. I don't care about Trump or the Nicene Creed. This is a non-issue for me.
  4. In Utah for a few more days. I think I'll be in Temple Square for a few hours at the end of the week if anyone else will be there.
  5. I asked a lot of crazy questions when I first came here.
  6. Just my impression from this: "Many members of the Church receive their endowment before a mission or marriage, while others simply have a strong desire to move forward along the covenant path."
  7. Hi!
  8. This touches upon something I was trying to explain in another thread. You do it better. Thank you.
  9. What are your thoughts on the gift of discernment?
  10. I hate "what if" scenarios because there is no easy answer to an issue that will never arise. The Prophet wouldn't ask us to do something that is horribly wrong. If we agree to play that game using your scenario, we'd have to admit that we either wouldn't follow the Prophet or that we would commit a horrible act. This scenario wouldn't arise. I don't view Mormon Stories so I can't answer about the content, but I believe the host was excommunicated. That alone would keep me away.
  11. For me personally, anti-Mormon stems from intent. Are you faithful? Do you desire to be faithful? Are you approaching Saints with issues hoping they can be resolved? If the answer to those questions is "yes", then I personally wouldn't find it to be anti-Mormon at all. I hope there never comes a day that we are not able to lean on stronger members for support. On the other hand, do you make no attempt to be faithful or keep your covenants? Do you call into question the teachings of the church and their authority from Heavenly Father? Do you publicly announce doctrine that runs counter to church teachings (or is borderline) then defend it and try to sway people to your opinion? Do you lead people astray? That behavior I find to be anti-Mormon.
  12. Very well said. If people hear His word and feel judged, mirror time is probably called for.
  13. I remember you posting, but if I can't remember the topic of your posts it probably means we typically agree. Particularly if you don't post often. I don't think there is an "in crowd". I think it's mostly that there are a few posters who are incredibly faithful, insightful, and very good at expressing it so they stick out. Others are trolls or contrary, so they stick out. Most just blend in and add to or detract from the content, but not in a dramatic way, so they just blend in. I'm on a kick against trolls and frauds for some reason. It's not a good thing at all. It doesn't do me or anyone else any favors, but it causes me to stick out. I also post like I talk in person: very directly and what's on my mind. It can be offputting for some. I've found a few spots where I can interact without that type of negativity so it's likely a matter of time before I take an extended break. Most of my discussions with people from this forum are on Facebook, anyway.
  14. That stinks. I honestly don't recall any of your posts or comments, so you aren't a misfit to me.
  15. This. I speak what's on my mind. People aren't required to like or agree with it.
  16. Edited. Never mind. I'm not biting such an obvious troll. I second what @The Folk Prophet said.
  17. Very awesome point, @zil. @Carborendum, what exactly is it to forgive yourself and repent? I believe we have a fairly strong sense of repentance because we teach it frequently. What is forgiveness, though? We day we forgive others all the time. I honestly believe we typically mean it and act as such, too. However, does forgiving someone set the clock back to to before the transgression? In most cases I don't believe that is possible. If your spouse is unfaithful you forgive them and work to restore normalcy to your relationship. How long does it take to reset the hearts and minds in the relationship to the point they were at prior to the infidelity? Is it ever even possible? I believe He knows our hearts and that is how we are judged. We preach all the time to investigators and those with shaky testimonies that we should act on faith and the desire to believe. We control actions. I think the same applies to forgiveness. We must desire to foregive, even ourselves, and pray for that desired end state. The natural man is imperfect, though, so I don't believe repentance is tied to perfection. At least I hope it isn't.
  18. I'm trying to learn about Temple Ordinances, specifically the Endowment. This link is probably the most information I've found thus far as I've been avoiding "bad" sites. Still, the introduction almost seems to suggest it's not imperative to get it done. https://www.lds.org/temples/what-is-temple-endowment?lang=eng
  19. Hey! I resemble that remark. I still prepared and taught my class every Sunday.
  20. It is for people who prefer controversy over faith.
  21. The problem isn't there leftists or conservatives are insane. The problem is leftists and conservatives ignore, and sometime even embrace, their insane fringe because it's better than what they view as the alternative. "Well, at least they're kinda on my side". That's how you get the nutjobs the left elected in the midterms.
  22. I've been looking at that, too. I've been waiting to see a sample.
