  1. You're missing the point. A crocodile in the pool will likely draw more negative attention than a woman in a G String, too. However, one is immodest and one is not.
  2. I focus on immodesty. Speedos are just an example.
  3. You focus on how much skin is covered. I certainly didn't in my discussion.
  4. Actually, it is because we take upon the Savior's name and our dress shows our respect for ourselves and Him. The other is consideration for our brothers and sisters.
  5. I'm asking you to answer his questions. If you believe the Bible to not be scripture, you aren't LDS. If you believe the Bible to be scripture, but not literal, then answer his questions to explain the discrepancies between your position and other areas of doctrine. And if your beliefs are opposite LDS teachings, that is most definitely on you, not me.
  6. We should have a feature where we can vote someone off the island. I would accept that risk.
  7. Because his questions directly relate to issues with scripture and doctrine that appear if you DON'T believe the story. Unless you're saying the Bible is false. If that's the case, then we're easily done here.
  8. I say that at my ward all the time. After every lesson I get "that was such a great lesson". I say "you have to say that, you're Mormon". When they point out that I'm a Mormon too, I let them know I'm a convert that didn't inherit the nice gene, but I'm trying. You're much further along than I am.
  9. A female body is different than a male body. As I stated above, most people get it. An exposed stomach on a male is "essentially the same as a female equivalent" if the only feature analyzed is the exposed skin. Only most people understand they aren't the same. This applies to many body parts. The church has many rules or suggestions that I, particularly as a new member, don't understand. They are Apostles. I sustain and follow them and their guidance to the best of my ability. If they say be modest, I don't wear a speedo to the beach. I don't push it to see if I can walk the edge because I think I'm smarter than the Apostles.
  10. Well, that's why I came here, but I woke up in a font......
  11. Because the female body isn't the same as the male body. Most people get it.
  12. Particularly since it's an LDS page. It's not like he's accommodating us on his page.
  13. But it certainly includes how much of a body is covered with clothes and HOW that body is covered with clothes.
  14. You didn't answer his questions. I'm interested in hearing them.
  15. I can't imagine the pain. The only advice I can offer is to follow the rules. In the long term, knowing you did things correctly may be the only solace you have, but it's a big one. There is a lot to be said for taking the higher ground. I'm sorry you have to endure this.
  16. Or a Speedo at a public pool.
  17. I agree 100%. The government shouldn't be in the marriage business. However, that ISN'T what being pro-gay marriage is. Being for something is supporting it. If you support gay marriage, you support sin. That is decidedly different than saying "I think it's sinful but none of my business".
  18. You say "fit their anti-masturbation views" as though it is a bad thing to adhere to the church's policy on the Law of Chastity.
  19. How can you be "pro sin"?
  20. Such as same-sex marriage, masturbation, and immodesty are fine.
  21. I don’t want to speak for him, but I think you don’t have the same understanding of the term.
  22. Your guess is wrong, as is your recollection. This post and your “I’m right and if you can’t see that you’re the problem” is an example of that. You said it best: you’re full of yourself. You’ve been insulting to several great members. That’s an ugly quality, but I’m sure you don’t see it. I’ll likely leave it at that.
  23. Meh. I appreciate the compliment but don't necessarily agree. You have a great crew here. I've just been jaded with the site's content and posters lately. I don't know if it's just me getting bothered by people/things unnecessarily, or if the rest of you are just much better people than I am and look past it. It just seems like lately there has been a TON of energy from a few posters that goes into disproving the teachings of the church, insulting some very smart members, and just general opinions that belong on an anti page. It doesn't do much for my own spiritual growth. Besides, I'll save money on fountain pens.
