  1. It's not our standard. It's Christ's. Furthermore, this life is a knot on an infinite thread. You'd rather they be denied eternal happiness in the Celestial Kingdom rather than miss the sin?
  2. I read the article, but I'd love to see the data set and questions. Wording is everything.
  3. Of course it teaches the importance to listen. You don't discipline your children and not tell them why. Children are children. It is my job to educate them.
  4. Absolutely not. It's my responsibility to teach my children. They are children. Most choices they aren't allowed to make. I
  5. Oooooooh, you vile temptress!
  6. I’m in the “I don’t care” camp. There are many things I don’t know. Engineer or not, there are also many miracles and events from Scripture that can’t be explained. Why accept some and not others?
  7. Heh. I laugh at the idea of my children saying no to me.
  8. Interesting. My pop ups go away and don’t come back when I hit “watch later”.
  9. If the conversation happened in the same way it did in this thread? Of course I would have. Actually, things would likely have never gotten to that point because they would have gone horribly wrong as soon as you said "your Bishop is an idiot". I'm usually extremely polite and respectful in person, but I don't handle insults well. Like I said, I still have that new Mormon smell. Haven't even taken the tags off yet. I struggle to have the love and kindness of my brothers and sisters. I hope to someday, though.
  10. I'm sorry. I chose my words poorly. What I meant to say was you definitively called the Bishop an idiot, then claimed you were speaking of his "idiotic message", then claimed to stand behind your statement. You're flip-flopping between two stories. See how that works?
  11. You've got a forked tongue and the backtracking doesn't change the facts. Personally, I'd have locked your account for personally attacking a Bishop, or any other member, rather than the message. I still have that new Mormon smell, though, so I'm less forgiving and loving than my brothers and sisters.
  12. Words mean things. Use the words you mean. Sometimes it's best to just apologize for a misuse of words and move on.
  13. Only you DIDN'T say it was idiotic to convey that message. You said HE is an idiot. Huge difference. Words mean something.
  14. Nobody claimed he was imperfect. Admitting imperfection is a far distance from "idiot". If you want a two-party conversation, send a private message. You didn't. You posted on a discussion board. I'm having a respectable discussion about your boorish behavior.
  15. Because he represents a Church leader that he sustains. I'd suggest you try to be a little less insulting and a little more respecting of another's beliefs if you're looking for actual conversation.
  16. I completely agree as well, but I'm a little taken aback by calling a Bishop an idiot.
  17. I received mine last month and I've been a member less time than you. If you feel prompted to get it, I see no reason why you would wait. I rarely know what I'm talking about, but my sentiment seems to be in line with everyone else's, so maybe this blind squirrel found a nut.
  18. Do you live here? https://www.ksl.com/?sid=46311746&nid=148&title=heavy-hit-during-church-game-leads-to-child-abuse-charge
  19. First, kudos to you for adhering to your standards. I think this is one of the problems with social media. You feel isolated because you aren't being viewed by people you don't know. Why? Break it down logically. Can you make videos with your children regardless of the number of people who view them? Of course. You're focusing on the wrong end of the process. MAKING the fun videos with your children is the important part. Bond with them. Teach them. Enjoy the experience. WATCHING the videos does nothing for you except give you a little joy when your view counter goes up. How many views do you need before YOU consider it a success? Don't evaluate yourself on your views. The real joy is in the production. That said, find topics that help people. Find topics that people find interesting. Produce decent videos and promote them through other means. If people find value, they will watch.
  20. I don't think that will be affected for the most part. It seems like all the LDS Tools will be open as well is Google and most websites. It looks like they are just shutting down social media and gaming sites. My young children color during the meeting. I don't allow electronics in general, but I do allow reading and coloring. During Sacrament they stop and sit quietly in their chairs.
  21. There is no service in my ward. A robust data plan won't help anyone.
  22. It looks like the Church is locking down the internet. https://www.deseretnews.com/article/900017435/most-social-networks-will-no-longer-be-available-in-lds-meetinghouses-beginning-in-may.html I can't think of many ways this would be a bad thing.
