  1. I think that tells us what he's looking at. I promise you, they want me to wear pants in church. If I were to wear a dress my hairy legs would stand out like a sore thumb!
  2. (long exasperating sigh) https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/caffeine-overdose-linked-to-st-john-s-seagull-deaths-1.778807
  3. Except....Water, in its natural state, very small particles suspended in it called colloids. And colloids can cause water to have an off color and/or have a bad taste to it. When colloids come into contact with chlorine (this happens at most water treatment facilities) it creates trihalomethanes. And trihalomethanes are cancer causing agents.
  4. Who cares?
  5. My experience in using river water- 1. Settle out the muds, clays and yuck- self descriptive. 2. Filter using cloth or paper filters- this removes any visible garbage or "floaters". 3. Chemically treat the water- iodine is really good for this. 4. Boil- this is not always needed, as the entire series of filters used, though looks huge (but really isn't) typically gets all livable bios out of the water. 5. Activated chacoal- removes a lot of the inorganics that filters and chemicals don't get. 6. Big Berky or Brita filters- this is the final stage before drinking. Depending on the water and your resources, of course. If you don't know what's wrong with the water, you're essentially a blind man in a maze.
  6. Problem I have with this stuff is that in a real sex abuse case, no matter how much money you get, it doesn't touch true reparation for the damage done. I know back when Michael Jackson was alive, people wouid accuse him of being a ChiMo, but he'd settle out of court. Because back then (and even now) the parents only wanted money. The damage that can do to a person's image is horrible. Far better to give them what they want and they'll scurry off with the rest of the insects. Awful but true. At the same time even real victims will just settle out instead of wanting to go through the horror of court. Sickenly awful but very true.
  7. This is why I have better than normal coverage. Sure, the law says all I must have, but...is that really sufficient? Is it right? Is it moral? Is it ethical? You tell me. I can, OTOH, spend an extra $50-60 a month and have better than normal coverage. Is that $50 or $60 I could be saving really worth "that much" to me? Not really. But, when everything is considered, that $50 or $60 a month may only equal around $7,200 to $8,600....if I look in retrospect, when I see what it really becomes in a serious accident is truly worth ten times it's weight in gold. Having better than normal coverage came back to me back in 2009. In late 2006 I was in a serious accident. The other person, he had the state minimum, which ain't squat, for insurance. If I had the state minimum, I would have been in for a world of major hurt. My initial medical bills alone reached 80k. Since then, the covered medical has paid out 130k. State minimum is, IIRC, 5k. When everything was over my policy and his policy forked over to me close to $350,000. That really isn't as much as I wish because I am (from that accident) permanently disabled. But medical and lawyers are paid for. So have better than normal coverage. LB, that fella wants to harass you, your insurance carrier will deal with him. If he wants to scam you, your insurance carrier will deal with him. If he tries to scam the insurance carrier, they'll hand him his butt on a paper plate. In the end it's worth the extra $50-$60 per month.
  8. To truly understand the greatness of seagulls one must read "Jonathan Livingston Seagull". My step-daughter, when she was a little kid, did some amazing things to seagulls, and enjoyed it. Now she is married and I have told her spouse about how she was doing all of that, getting ready for her soulmate. Poor kid. I feel sorry for him.
  9. Here, let me help you.... Denson's credibility is attacked because of her many faults. Such as the prostitute that is victimized. Like Denson, the prostitute has many faults, but those faults do not make it ok to do whatever one wishes to her. Sure, the prostitute gets paid to spread her legs. But that never means it's ok to rape her. Sure, Denson made plenty of mistakes. Man, the list is long. But that never means it's ok to sexual assault her, it also never means it's ok to chide her because of her prevous conduct. Sure, question if it happened. That is routine. Yes I know of men that have been falsely accused of commiting sexual assaults/rapes. But that does not mean that all men are innocent. I also know a woman or two that lied about being raped. And that never says that all women are liars. What Trevor Noah said is right. Too many men are too fearful of being wrongfully accused. But MOE, I ask you this specifically, is Trevor or you saying that all men are perpetrators? Wait until you have been accused of something that sick and awful. Wait until your name and reputation has been dragged through the mud. You know, when it comes to something this awful, whether you have been through it or a friend has been, the impact is horrible. No, there is no comparison to being a real victim. Be it of a rape or sexual assault or of being wrongfully accused of such. Does that help you understand what I was saying?
  10. Let's say a prostitute goes to church. Is it ok to do anything improper to her because she's a prostitute? Is it ok to sexually assault her? Is it ok to rape her? After all, she IS a prostitute, right? With that inquiry aside, this is a perfect example of why I refuse to apologize for anything I might be accused of. I have been told before to just apologize and let it go, even if I did nothing. But, this case, as I said, is a perfect example. If you apologize, no matter how you word it, it still comes out as you apologizing for something you did, even if you didn't do it. As just_a_guy said "...The essence of penitence is accountability." If you show penitence, you accept responsibility.
  11. After reading all eight (expletive) pages, I think I'm ready to puke. The thread itself is "ok". But this guy LatterDSaint set you guys up. He wants a debate full of vitrol and angst. Bam. He's on ignore. But then two senior moderators that not only fell for it but also participated in the improper conduct, man...I'm like DUDES! What the heck is wrong with you?!?!?! I lost respect for both and both of them (who will remain unnamed) are now on my ignore list. I am involved in politics and I assure you this thread was nothing more than a bait & switch.
  12. Pardon me, but...Trump's wife has never done pornshoots, and the one she did may not have been fully clothed, but it really was a long ways from porn. I just find it astonishing that people have so little to attack Trump on that they have to go dig up his past. Just like Judge Kavenaugh (sp?). They can't find anything recent so they look in the past, and when they can't find anything there they'll make something up. ETA- I stand corrected. However, it really is irrelevant.
  13. Let's build one in Pitcairn....
  14. Thank you for the compliment, NT. Caught me by surprise. JJ, well, he's an alright dude from the very beginning. But Vort and Carbo....I dunno man.
  15. Is this information that we really need, here? I mean, seriously. Even someone like her has the right to some form of privacy. I really like this part in the manual- "If the person refuses to leave and continues to cause a disturbance at the pulpit, turn off the microphone and dismiss the meeting." Very simple and keeps everyone safe. So now with the congregation safe you can send in the Gestapo (tic).
  16. What if how you talk to someone "pushes them over the edge", and they kill themselves? What would that be called and how would that be handled? By the church and/or the authorities? Like is that manslaughter, murder...? There are some people out there that are so sensitive about things that I swear... I tried telling the guys in the Gospel Essentials class about suicide when it came up in discussion regarding some course that's coming up in a few days on dealing with suicide. No matter how much I tried to tell them what it's like and what causes it, they (there were only three of us) showed they really didn't care. I felt as if I was talking to a brick wall. But then I reflect on when I had those "feelings", and if only someone out there actually cared, instead of the worthless lip service....
  17. If you cannot do it, be direct about it and say so. It is wrong to do what he did, clearly. But when you leave the church, you benefit no one and certainly not yourself. You do not go to church to be with him or others, but to worship God. If anything, you are hurting yourself and your relationship with God.
  18. I watched her video, and I find it disturbing. Not as much that she and her whoever/whatever did it, but it gets me to wonder how much of what happens there is videoed by outsiders. Or even members. It can be done with ease. She is inadvertantly showing us how little privacy we really have. Some of the stuff people tell during their testimony, I mean that's some very personal stuff. I don't think they want the whole world to know. But going back to McKenna Denson, she is having a lot of difficulty with this issue, but then it's never easy to go s far as she went. She needs, if anything, prayers. I don't think what she did was right especially when she pre-planned it (0:06-1:37). But I must ask, exactly what instruction do the church leaders get regarding such allegations? Back years ago when I was interim pastor for a Christian non-denominational fellowship, we were given instruction on reporting such allegations to the police.
  19. No, I do not see scheduling as a moral or ethical issue, as I explained in response to Blackmarch.
  20. What sucks is the only LDS woman willing to go out with me is an hour away, and even then I think she's inactive.
  21. I am not sure his stay at BYU will be for much longer. But I could be wrong.
  22. Or you could go to college, get married, and then go on a mission with your wife when you retire. About college, they have these really neat certificates that you can earn in some technical field that'll earn you far more money on your first job than any of the degrees out there.
  23. Square, then divide, then Pi(R2). One square mile as radius is 1 mile. Thus 3.14159265359(1SQ) = 3.14159265359 square miles. Active members versus trolls and lurkers. Which is one reason I'm secretive about the video I shared (proving I have and do shower with a 20 oz. soda bottle). Except now I have a 1/2 gallon pump sprayer I converted. It helps a lot. Speaking of which, I'm gathing funds to pick up a replacement trailer. The massive cloudburst back in June did some damage to my trailer. Not asking for any, but if anything prayers would help a lot. Prayers always help.
  24. At least the money you make while working during chrch is legal, thus moral. There are times I don't go to church because of the physical pain I endure. Sometimes the pain meds don't do their job. Or I may be ill. Should I come to Sacrament if I have pnuemonia? The flu? Absolutely not. If I have family in from out of state, would God be offended that I spent the day with them, instead of church? I don't think so. But...how does my scheduling affect others?
  25. However, to entertain the thought, speeding isn't an issue because in speeding it affects no one. Until you wreck.
