Also, from what I understand, flu shots are only effective for about 6 months. That's why they like to give them out in the fall, so they last through the winter, into spring. I wouldn't be surprised if an annual COVID shot becomes normal.

My son lost about 50% hearing in his right ear when he was six. Honestly we do see it as something that we should try to fix as much as possible. He now wears a hearing aid. We've been part of a community of parents with hearing-impaired and/or deaf children, and for the most part they are all doing whatever they can to help their children hear as much as possible. They are a great group with a lot of resources. I think not having one of the senses means a person is less-able than the typical person, disabled. It is different to me than being color-blind or autistic where something works differently, not diminished or altogether gone.

I figure all the %'s start to add (multiple?) up. If I'm being physically distant 70% more than normal, and the mask blocks 50% of particles, and the vaccine is 80% effective. (And I'm just making up all these numbers as an example ) Then my overall exposure and risk drops much more than what is offered by any one method.

That is an incredible comparison. 2020 COVID deaths were about 350k. 2018 abortions (the latest I could find) were over 600k!

I think if it had been PR, they'd have done it back in April or May. Having it come out after they've had their own time to study it makes me think the opposite, that it isn't (just) PR.

If we're getting technical, the commandment is not Thou shalt not murder. It is "Thou shalt not kill", correct? https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/ex/20?lang=eng

I had seen the feature when I first started on this forum over two years ago. I never thought much of it after. But I did wonder if I'd ever make it. Just two weeks ago, it happened and I never noticed it! Of course my posts that got the rep were about comic books and Zingers....well and mourning with Backroads.

Interesting. I've felt the opposite. The changes that have been made in the last few years seem incredibly inspired with some hindsight. The change to two hour church with CFM at home was a great practice to moving to pandemic church at home. The change to allow any baptized member be a witness for another's baptism allowed my wife to be a witness of mine. The change to not require the complete High Council for a membership council allowed me to meet with just the Stake Presidency for mine to be able to get baptized during the pandemic. Just to name a few.

The way I read that section of the Handbook, it seems that getting vaccinations is the default. Only if someone has a reason for concern, then seek counsel and guidance.

Right? Most non-white shirts on men I see at church are shades of blue

Thanks Mirk, for some reason, I didn't get the email.

Maybe because they believe in Ex Nihilo creation, so it's not a problem.

Marijuana Hallucination or Demonic Experience?

My dad is a legislator in NV. He sometimes seeks counsel from the Church on issues. When NV was looking to legalize MJ, he likes to sum up the guidance he got as "Don't smoke it" -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacrament_(LDS_Church) I found the section on Changes to the Sacrament very interesting! It seems like before the 1898 it was only priests and Melchizedek priesthood holders preparing and passing the sacrament. And when deacons and teachers first were included, there was some reluctance Given that there isn't any scriptural references, I could see a time where the passing and/or preparing is opened up to others, similarly to how witnesses of baptisms was.

I don't believe anyone will be tormented just for being gay either. -
Flip all breakers to the house. On a more serious note, my wife hates the endless cycle that laundry can become so she likes to do laundry once a week. Sunday nights we gather in the TV room with all the laundry and separate it while watching something. (She then spends Mondays processing all the laundry and Monday night we fold while listening to a Conference talk) We recently finished Dwight in Shining Armor on BYUTV. We're trying out other shows on there now. Nothing really seems as good yet. I really like this tradition. It gets the kids involved in the chore, we're together as a family, watching something we can talk about later and share jokes.
