  1. That's cool. As he was speaking, I learned that he was a missionary in our ward in South Dakota when I was born.
  2. I find Dear Evan Hansen one of the most relatable musicals to me. I'm somewhat aware of how socially awkward I can be and I could see myself doing something similar in high school given those unique circumstances. And I think the music is excellent.
  3. This was similar to my thought process. We'll have a family council and discuss. Thanks for following up. It got postponed! The bishopric decided to make it Fast Sunday last week because we have General Conference and the week after is Stake Conference. Now, with a Ward Conference and missionary farewells and homecomings, it probably won't happen until November or maybe even December. Plenty of time to worry and fret about it now
  4. I just wanted to see what people's thoughts were. Is trick or treating a Sabbath appropriate activity? I'm leaning towards no. We're thinking of heading to St. George for the weekend because I hear they're doing it on Saturday. But my kids may riot if they aren't able to do it with friends 😕
  5. Just go Hogwarts style and sing at your own pace I've come to dread singing "Happy Birthday" at parties because it always goes at a much slower pace, and there's no chorister or accompanist to keep up the tempo.
  6. I've heard many forms of "Good information facilitates good inspiration." I think the people who know us best are better equipped to provide the blessings we need. But as long as the priesthood bearer is worthy, it's not much of an issue. Another thought, in the area I live in, we don't have a lot of service opportunities. Needing a blessing can be a great opportunity to let a ministering brother fulfill his calling.
  7. I went to see Shang Chi last night and there was a preview for Dear Evan Hanson. I haven't seen the play, but I do enjoy the soundtrack. I'm looking forward to the movie.
  8. I'm feeling much better this morning about it. I talked with my wife and my sponsor about it. I also have a meeting already scheduled with the bishop this week, so I'll get his input as well. Thank you all for letting me vent a little . I'm still open for more suggestions, also.
  9. That's a good point. I am not contemplating going into any detail of my sins. I'm worried more about saying or referencing excommunication or rebaptism.
  10. I just received a text from a bishopric member asking if I can speak in two weeks on the topic of the Atonement and Repentance. He also mentioned the other person speaking. She's someone I know has also been re-baptized. (in case anyone isn't familiar with my past I was excommunicated in 2019, and baptized again in 2020). Speaking in sacrament has never been a very scary thing for me in the past. I'd get a little nervous, but no real issues. But thinking about this topic now, I'm near a panic attack thinking about being vulnerable enough to share anything from the last 3 years with the entire ward. I know I don't have to, that I can go at it from an analytical, doctrinal view, but I get the feeling that I'm supposed to, or need to, take a personal approach. It's really got my spinning. I haven't even responded to him yet. Any advice, thoughts, references, examples I could share, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

  12. You pass on passing judgement on the past? So passe!
  13. Maybe he meant 'holey' war, referring to BYU's defensive line. BOOM!
  14. Your doc should call Sigourney Weaver! I hope you and your wife get better soon
  15. Classic! That's when comedians/actors could also sing. Moranis and Martin were excellent.
  16. Do you mind if I ask what ailment you and your wife have that it was prescribed for?
  17. I admit I just scanned the article, but I didn't see anything that said they didn't try Ivermectin.
  18. My wife and I read through the Ensign Liahona together as our companionship study. I think because it's always 'new' it helps us be more engaged. We discuss the ideas and principles presented in the article we read.
  19. I had a companion on my mission that pointed to Acts 2:20-21 saying that ALL things needed to be restored before the second coming will happen, including polygamy. I pointed out that polygamy had already been restored.... And then stopped. It didn't change his mind, but it makes sense to me. It needed to happen, and now it doesn't anymore.
  20. On my mission, in Oklahoma, we had a "don't ask" policy about immigration status. I can't speak with any experience on this topic, but I could imagine a similar policy about plural marriage status in some countries. Not saying it's right or not. Just that I have personal experience with the church purposefully not asking a specific question.
  21. Because COVID is contagious. 🤷‍♂️
  22. SPOILERS!!!! On another note, how is it no one has mentioned Greatest Showman yet? I gotta admit I like the music. The story was fairly compelling as well. I'm a big fan of stories where the spouse doesn't "follow their heart" and go with adultery.
  23. I can remember at least three lessons I've been in where we talked about faith and thinking similar ideas. It always seems that we want to come up with one overarching definition for something. Sometimes a word or idea can mean different things to different people at different times.
